[Proposal] Boston - Vancouver

Recommended Posts

To Boston: a 3rd round pick 2023, Madison Bowey

To Vancouver: Jakub Zboril

why?

- Zboril, a 1st round pick in 2015, was beat out at camp this year after playing most of last season

- Has not gotten a game in yet this season, and will not be dressed again today

- Cheap contract for the year

- Will be a RFA at season's end and value will decrease even more if he hasn't played

- Boston is at a full roster, but will want to activate Lazar sooner than later (week-to-week), they have no waiver exempt players on their line-up except Swayman (a goalie)

- Played a lot of games between 18-21 mins last year

- Gives the Canucks the flexibility to put Rathbone in Abby to polish his game/continue his development, as well as send Brad Hunt down to give Abby the star power they need to be in competition for 1st place in the league (yep!). This is what he was brought here to do most likely until Hamonic's situation

- Zboril will compliment Burroughs or Schenn well, has a good two-way game

- Did not PK too much last year (0:35 per game) but in my opinion has the toolbox to be step up as a PKer

- Gives Baumer/Shaw/Green the ability to ice a third pairing for 15 mins+ per night and not tire out the Quinn or OEL pairings rather than the >12 minutes currently happening

- Boston gets depth back that has already passed thru waivers in Bowey (similar to Canucks' acquisition of Juulsen) if someone gets hurt, Bowey is not likely to get a shot here with Rathbone, Burroughs, Schenn and Juulsen (and Zboril if this trade occured) ahead of him on the depth chart now

Quinn - Poolman

OEL - Myers

Zboril - Burroughs

Schenn, Hunt/Juulsen

Call-ups: Rathbone, Woo, Hunt/Juulsen

Boston only has 7 Ds on their roster.  John Moore has been assigned to Providence today while they've kept Zboril on their main roster.

To activate Lazar they will probably demote forward Anton Blidh rather than move a D.

If we can add him that'd be great.  Still seems like he hasn't yet been able to put it all together but good to see that he got in a good amount of games last season.  I'd prefer it that (if he's able to stay healthy) he can be the #7 guy, since he's also got physicality and mobility, which would really help our bottom pair.
