Just more proof that capitalism is trash. They love raising prices of goods, but refuse to raise our salaries to compensate. I wish more people would start fighting back against this garbage.

Capitalism is the best system ever created and no argument otherwise is even close. It's Crony Capitalism that is a problem.

In Canada wages have rises 5.2% year over year. If you want people to fight back against this garbage I suggest you ask for a raise like it appears everyone else has.

Capitalism is trash. "Crony" capitalism is still capitalism. It amazes me that people will still defend it.

Capitalism is ok

Pure capitalism is not.

Socialism in part is ok.

Pure socialism is not.

Take any metric to an extreme like we are seeing in our markets right now and you will see the bad and only the bad because it inevitably ONLY benefits the wealthy or powerful.  What we have now worked very well for decades until it was broken in the 80s.

I cannot seem to find daily or weekly historical price data. The closest I could find was monthly data for Vancouver (regular unleaded). Not sure if this is the price on the last day of the month or an average for the month. .....

Jan 170.5

Feb 177.1

Mar 198.3

Apr 198.5

May 220.1

Jun  225.4

Jul  202.4

Aug 193.2

Granted this is not Pentiction data but the price increases you're recalling are not reflected in the data. You wouldn't think data like this would be hard to find but I couldn't find daily or even weekly pricing data. You're usually pretty good researching things. Perhaps you can locate it. I'd be curious to see it.

I can't find that specific data.  But I can say that within a month, from end of Feb to the start of April gas prices jumped essentially 70 cents which is insane.  That they have not reduced at all and are in fact increasing again is a slap in the face.

The problem is that the wealthy were always running things.

Oh, you are one of those people. Not a surprise at all.

A "take charge" kind of person? Yes I am. Let me give you some free advice from someone with a bit of mileage on the odometer. If you don't like something or are unhappy make some changes. Complaining will not change anything nor will it make you feel any better. Good luck to you.

LOL, yeah, "take charge." I'm sure you tell people to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. A saying that is really stupid because it is physically impossible. As long as you get yours, then screw everyone else, right? It doesn't matter if they are suffering, they just need to get off their asses and stop being lazy, right?

Whoa now.

There's literally nothing wrong with a person succeeding.  At all.  Suggesting otherwise is approaching the opposite side of the bad parts of capitalism.  A person succeeding is not somehow detrimental to society or others as a whole; it only highlights either the ability of some to persevere or the unwillingness of others to attempt the same and instead moan about it.

Futz has ben very vocal and very outspoken about how they achieved what they have and how hard it was and has willingly shared that knowledge in various groups.

To suggest it's as simple as getting up and not being lazy, is in fact good advice.  Advice many don't take.  Opportunity is everywhere if one applies themselves or learns the knowledge of the area in which they are interested.  Pulling ones self up by the boot straps is in fact physically impossible but nothing was ever EVER achieved without a serious amount of elbow grease at some point.

Have you considered switching to de-caf coffee?

It may help you stay calm, and read what someone said; instead of what you think they said?

You're making an awful lot of assumptions. You seem intent on being a victim. It's a free country. You have free will. If you want to be a victim, be a victim.

You just defined the term - crony capitalism.

This has been the problem for a few decades now but especially since 2008.

I have no problems with someone becoming successful. However, I have tons of problems with how people act about their success and try to apply it to everyone else like things are actually equal, when we know damn well it isn't. I've been around too many people who have that attitude I described.
