Nuxfanabroad
Short & sweet, JT Miller, for Jeff Skinner(retain 1 mill for 5 yrs) Sabs include their 2023 1st; also a 2023 2nd(they have 3, we'll take the lowest) Skinner has a NMC. Maybe the Sabs hard-sell this, claiming he'll be bought out if refusing. If it were available, would you?
Blue Jay 22
This will never happen. For starters, why would the Sabres trade an albatross contract and a 1st for another albatross contract? I’m pretty sure Jim Benning isn’t their GM. On top of that, good luck trying to convince Skinner to waive and go from a promising looking team to a current basement dweller. Edit: your hypothetical scenario of the Sabres threatening Skinner with a buyout if he refuses to waive is illegal I’m pretty sure. qwijibo
I don’t see Buffalo belong interested. Skinner’s ca hit is higher but is contract is done when he’s 35. You have them take in n additional $23m in real dollars for a player who is under contract until age 37. And you want a 1st in what looks to be a historically strong draft and a second for them to do it. All this on top of Miller struggling to start the year off

luckylager
To answer the question without technicalities. Yes, absolutely I'd do that. Then trade Skinner to some other sucker.
