FYI:  Pearson is the ranked the 722nd worst +/- player in the league out of 736 active players.  (736 is the very worst in the entire National Hockey league)

Should have never been resigned by Uncle Jim B. (Another in the long list of benning screwball mistakes)

IS THERE A WAY WE CAN FACTOR IN HIS BAD PENALTIES

oops screaming

Is this draft supposed to be a deep one? Asking for a friend.

yes

and you know what that means?

It means that Uncle New Jim will be able to acquire better waiver fodder when he starts trading picks to try and claw his way into the play, er meaningful games in March

I think with salary retained they are both very tradeable.

Myers would be the perfect number 5 guy if getting paid 3m

OEL would be a good 4D elsewhere.

If they got paid like those positions, I'm sure a team would take them.

If we rebuild, we don't need cap for 3 years anyway so I would retain salary and trade out key assets to make the value attractive

OEL is a little difficult because he has contract that expires in 2027. Basically just under 5 years left.

It would suck to be on the hook for his salary when we need the money in a few years.

That's when management has to get creative.

If that means. Trading Bo and using some of the sweeteners on that deal to package up OEL for less salary retention etc...

Big fan of OEL but his play has regressed terribly this year. It will only get worse as he is getting older.

He is a 3rd or 4th D at best right now on a decent club

that is all good, but you can only retain salary on 3 players

who do you pick?

You are dreaming if you think the NHL will let us get the 1OA. The “lottery” system is a joke and the draw is behind closed doors with no one doing any sort of over watch. We are not getting Bedard. Bettman has other ideas as to where he will go….like Arizona.

There's a legal firm that oversees it.  I'm sure that there would be many questions regarding tampering if there wasn't.

Thanks for pointing out how bad Miller and Boeser;s +/-  are too - which I also noted while checking the official stats - but purposely did not mention as i did not want to muddy the discussion at hand of "How Bad Pearson Really is" by only mentioning the fact that Pearson's is the  722nd worst +/- player in the entire National Hockey League out of 736 active players according to official NHL Stats - as of tonight.

but but butt

Brock got there quicker!

woot

We aren't retaining any salary currently are we?

I would say Myers and Boeser might be the only ones we need to retain

I actually think Miller is well worth his current cap hit along with his 8m future cap hit. He would have easily gotten that and more in the open market so I'm sure there's value there. A point / game  player who can play C for 8m?

That's not bad at all

"Hey Thatch, got yer game back?"

"Not sure, haven't played in a couple of days"

"Hey Thatch, got yor game back yet?"

"Not sure haven't played in a week"

"Hey Thatch, got ur game back yet?"

"not sure, havn't plaiyed inna mont"

Most assists among players with 0 goals:

Mathew Barzal (NYI) - 18

Morgan Rielly (TOR) - 14

Quinn Hughes (VAN) - 13

Brock Boeser (VAN) - 9

remember when Hughes said that Josi had 100 more shots than he did?

that he wanted to close the gap?

at 17 games in

Josi 61

Hughes 23

If it was only one year, fine.  If any GM wants to cripple the franchise with long-term dead cap, he needs to be fired on the spot.

there are probably 31 GMs who would be happy to cripple us with dead cap

Yes sir.

I dont know why this is so hard to understand on this board .

one dimensional players dont win you championships.  complete players win you championships.

its as if half of this board just wants to see certain players rack up points so they can feel good about their fantasy hockey.

I was looking at league leaders the other day

one player in the top 13 has won a cup, Stamkos

14-18 have at least one each

Kane (3), a long time ago

OV, a while ago

Rantanen and McKinnon, last season

back  in 09 Malkin won both the Stanley and Art Ross

It’s unfortunate that the negativity and darkness has made so many posters here to a point where they refused to enjoy the win last night and see some of the positives that went on.

No, somebody is always offended . Always. It's the age of liberals and democrats.  I'm not a fan of the opposite views,  but, I am definitely sick of the extremes the other way.  Nobody can say or post anything even slightly close to any lines without somebody getting whiny about it.

Kinda like what you just did there. It's ironic

You're offended by other people being offended.
