Gurn
News on a possible replacement for Cheech: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/entertainment/tv/report-ray-ferraro-could-fill-john-garrett-s-role-on-canucks-tv-broadcasts/ar-AA1bUlDg?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=2e8bcc3f44a741319526ce4459438f68&ei=29 " Veteran broadcaster Ray Ferraro could be filling the role of colour analyst on Vancouver Canucks regional TV broadcasts next season, according to a report from Daily Hive’s Tyler Green. Here’s some of what Green had to say: Numerous sources have indicated to Daily Hive that the Vancouver Canucks organization has made a major play to bring Ferraro into the mix to be John Shorthouse’s new broadcast partner. Unless Ferraro has an out-clause in his contract with ESPN, the 58-year-old native of Trail, BC will be limited in his game coverage for the Canucks broadcasts to no more than about 25 games. Ferraro is married to Canucks assistant general manager Cammi Granato, and recently made the decision to stop doing the World Juniors so that he could spend more time with his family in Vancouver. On top of his work with TSN at the World Juniors, Ferraro has served as the colour commentator in the EA Sports NHL video game series for a number of years, along with work at ESPN, NBC, and yes, Sportsnet. The Canucks signed a new 10-year partnership with Rogers this past season. John Garrett announced his departure from Canucks broadcasts during this past season, but did add that he’ll still be doing some work for Sportsnet across various properties next season. Garrett has worked alongside John Shorthouse and Dan Murphy. Replacing Garrett is a tall task for the Canucks and Sportsnet to pull off, but many would agree that Ferraro’s broadcasting pedigree, along with his preexisting relationship with Shorthouse and Murphy would make the transition easier. As for who might call the other games that Ferraro won’t be able to due to his current commitments to ESPN, Green threw out Corey Hirsch, Randip Janda, and Dave Tomlinson. Gurn
^ Personally I don't think it happens. To much conflict of interest, with Ray and Cammi being married. The team has already gotten freaky about how they deal with media, who needs the extra stress. Heck, even now, if Ray got a scoop about the Canucks, and he didn't get it from Cammi, I say he already gives the info to a friend, rather than have JR think his AGM is leaking info to her man.
Jaimito
I like Ray. Will be good fir analysis. He isn't a homer like Garrett, but he's tied to nux via his wife. Hope he will give it a try. Good for his family situation too.
