Junkyard Dog
Vancouver trades Brock Boeser 6.65M x 2 years. New York Islanders trades Jean-Gabriel Pageau 5M x 3 years. 2023 4th round pick. Why does the Vancouver Canucks do this? They trade from a winger surplus to gain a spot needed. Pageau is an elite defensive top 9 right shot C who despite 68.7% even-strength D-zone starts scored 40 points on a defensive team. He has been a consistent 55%+ faceoff Center, secondary scoring producer and fills a significant void both at C and on the PK. He also plays physically, having 170+ hits in each of the past two seasons. Canucks also gain 1.65M in cap next year in the process. Why does the New York Islanders do this? They trade from a centre surplus in order to gain aid needed at wing. Although they gain a bit of cap they get a bit more younger and help offensively they need in the top 6 wings. This trade would give us over 8M in cap which would help us try to retool the D-core even more so with us having acquired cap while getting a pretty good 3rd C. Please no no Pageau 5'10 - 180 lbs - 30 yrs old.. We need more grit and size not more small forward big pass and 5 million X 3yrs. Also 30 yrs old..

On our current team he’d be 3rd in hits with 175 hits and he’d be our best faceoff man while providing some good secondary scoring. He’s been a pretty consistent player throughout his career which makes me feel that he’s capable of playing a good 31, 32 and 33 year old seasons. Not any players in free agency better than him for what he brings. Maybe trade-wise like Scott Laughton who’s a bit younger but he’s coming off a career year and is on a rebuilding team that will want assets.
Canucks Curse
I don't mind this move, but Colton sissons feels like a bit better of a fit, lower cap hit, right shot C younger, local, bigger, tougher

We move the Gatlsnd cap from wing to 3C. Love for this to happen.

Pageau 30 - 5'10--180 lbs 3 yrs X 5 million Can't see Tocchet wanting more smaller guys... Grit guy like Colton Sissons 29 - 6'1 -200 Right C - Local - 3 yrs X 2.8 million
Pears
I’d rather keep Boeser.

Predators also looking for scoring. Pretty much same age(1 year younger), bigger but scores less. Big stand out is his cap hit which is more friendly. Could probably swing Garland and still save a little over 2M. Boeser would give us just under 4M. I prefer him as a target. Nice call.
CanuckFan1123
I have a feeling Boeser is going to have his best season yet next season. It would be a mistake to consider moving him unless he’s part of a trade for a really significant asset.
