    No game sevens in the first round this year.  I wonder how long it has been since that happened?

      Here to report my research :) 

       

      It has been 16 years. In 2001 there were two sweeps, and the other six series all ended in 6 games.

       

      2006 and 2007 both just had one first round series go to game 7. The norm since 2000 is 2-3 game 7s in the first round.

      Nice work.  I knew it felt like it had been a while.  Although I enjoyed seeing the Leafs get eliminated, there's nothing quite like a game 7.

      Agree with you on both points there. Although there were no game 7s in the first round in 2001, 3 of 4 series in the second round went to game 7. Maybe it'll happen again - there are some close matchups
