Was hoping Detroit could keep the series going, Nashville's got lots of time to rest.

End of an era I'd say
Never thought the Preds would dispose of the Wings that easily
Props to a classy franchise for progressing so much

Hope this isn't Lidstrom's last game. The guy looks like he still has some quality hockey left in him
Maybe the idea of playing in the Winter Classic will lure him back for one more year

See ya later deadwings! Guarantee you the wings wont be in the upper echelon of the league for years now, kind of like a passing of the guard.
I rather lose with the Canucks, than win with any other team

This is OUR year

I find it quite interesting that the Red Wings went from a cup win vs. Pittsburgh, to a cup loss vs. Pittsburgh, to a conference final loss vs. Chicago, to a 2nd round exit vs. San Jose, to a 1st round vs Nashville.

@DetroitRedWings: Zetterberg said that he told Shea Weber 'well played, good luck and see you next year' in the handshake line.

Hope Weber learned something from the incident.

all those people who are surprised to see wings loose in 5th game are a bit ignorant of the fact that nashville has an amazing team this year with an amazing goalie and I have them winning the conference finals

No, they didn't lose the Chicago in the conference finals. They won. That was in 2009 when they went on to have a rematch with the Penguins.

Wings lost two years in a row to San Jose in the second round.
EMBRACE THE HATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really?! I think that fans base has had more than enough winning for awhile.

Lemme add despite being one of the best teams, they are having difficulties filling up the seats in their arena. It's like they are spoiled like hell.

But yea, I didn't think they will go out in 5. Didn't see it coming. Detroit might have a little more skill, but Nashville had more grit, and the also have some skill, and world class goalie.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

http://bleacherrepor...d-top-prospects

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

So what? You can't deny the fact that Detroit has made hockey a great sport to watch for years. The games between Canucks and Detroit are always interesting.

It's never fun to see an elite team (especially a well-respected team in my eyes) to have an early 1st round exit (well except Boston ;) ).

But seeing their stats, they are declining.

We have been spoiled as well. Although we haven't won the cup yet, we still have a team (with two amazing goaltenders) that is able to compete in the playoffs for years to come. If you don't call that spoiled, then I don't know what is.

Love Rinne, but love Lidstrom and Datsyuk too. "You suck" chants aren't needed while handshakes are going on, c'mon ..

Agree. I know it's their tradition but that's going a bit too far.

It's a game c'mon, they finally beat their most hated rivals. It's not like they threatened to beat the hell out them, oh wait they do after every goal.

Us Canuck fans can't really talk about class though

It's not the end at all for Detroit. They will still contend next year and with or without Lidstrom they will have some significant cap space to work with in the off season. With one of if not the best GM in the league I think they'll improve.

It feels so great to get finally beat the red wings in a playoff series after losing to them twice in the 2004 playoffs and 2008 playoffs

Must feel great to defeat the Wings.. Enjoy the victory.. Much respect for the Preds organization, they have come a long way.

Holy, can't believe it only lasted 5. I know everyone is praising Lidstrom right now, but I definitely think he was at least a little behind where he was last year. He just didn't take control of the game as often.

The Red Wings, especially if Liddy retires are going to be in a huge need for a defenseman. With all of the rumours of Stuart signing closer to home as well.... I could still see Ryan Suter signing there, but if Nashville goes on a good run this year, maybe he'll want to stick around.

Nashville is also the only team that in the past 10 years to be able to beat them in under 6 games.
