Edler0023
So if Bieksa or Hamhuis shove Richards' head into the glass, they only get a fine, no suspension right? In all seriousness though ...hope Clifford is okay, dumb hit by Bitz. Weren't the hits on Kesler and Burrows similar though? I havent seen a replay anywhere so cant say much I guess. binderdonedat
The amount of energy that Bitz delivered in that hit is more powerful than Weber's face slam if you consider Bitz weight and the speed he was coming at. It was very dangerous. However, not a huge loss for LA because Clifford is not a key player, not many points.

hudson bay rules
2 games is fine but I've given up trying to guess what Shanny will dish out. Weber fine etc... WTF????
DeNiro
Hmm, 2 playoff games for a hit that you see a million times during the regular season... Yet Keith gets 5 regular season games for a flying elbow with intent to injure? Something tells me these two suspensions should be nowhere close to each other. But we shouldn't be surprised, there's clearly a double standard for each team, as we all saw with the Rome suspension.

Sami Solo
Sadly under the current CBA that's the maximum that Shanahan can fine him.
Mauii
People like Bitz need to be taken out of the game...besides he severely compromised the Canucks chances...he's a liability to the team. If the NHL does not take the appropriate measures to the protect the players, perhaps the Canucks organization will have to step up, considering the NHL is being negligent by not doing so. PS. $2500 is chump change for a hockey player but yet a $50,000 fine (rough estimate which I understand they raised just before the playoffs probably knowing there is going to be nonesense by the NHL - what pro organization is so worried about this that they need to raise the fine) for speaking against the NHL...do we not live in a country that promotes freedom of expression but have laws to protect the safety of others...what is more valuable to the NHL or of greater concern...the protection of the safety of the players or shutting down peoples ability to speak the truth about the activities of the NHL...where is the NHL's priorities? Is such an organization fit to oversee a pro organization.
Vlas=d
Plain and simple, they lose Weber Nashville done, hence the fine. If that was Crosby I wonder what would have happened.....

Sami Solo
If Weber only got a fine, then Bitz should get a slap on the wrist, maybe make him stand in the corner for 10 mins? Lol
lateralus
As I said, moral of the story is to wear a visor: Zetts wears a visor, gets his face thrown into the glass, isn't injured. Weber can be let off, on to game 2. Kyle Clifford doesn't wear a visor, eats glass, out for who knows how long, gotta give Bitz a game or two. RunningWild
Just so I'm clear. Shanahan has already stated that 1 playoff game suspension = 12 regular season games. So, Keith gets 5 regular season games which is equivalent of 1/3 of 1 playoff game. Meanwhile, Canucks are still without Daniel. Shea Weber (a repeat offender), gets a $2,500 fine for smashing someones head into the glass in the last minute of game. Isn't there some sort of NHL rule that any fights, instigators or large issues that happened in last 5 minutes of game are suspendable?!? Bitz (1st time offender) gets 2 playoff games, which is the equivalent of 24 regular season games. I hope Gillis laughs in Shanahans face. What a joke of a league. LeanBeef
Anyone know if Clifford got suspended for his hit on Tanev last year? It was similar, but Shanahan wasn't in control.
