I like Ellie Goulding and Lights, but this is my favorite 'dub' track. Just a good song reminds me of something you'd hear in a Canucks tribute video.

I've been hearing a sampling of this style of music and I want to explore further.

Where should I begin?

I'm talking Skrillex, Deadmau5, etc as well as some of the more underground stuff.

Deadmau5 is NOT Dubstep - just sayin'. He's made maybe one song that is Dubstep and he's predominantly House and a little Trance.

So we are officially in a bit of a silly season, and in general I stay away from the completely crazy rumors that persist on the internet, or in the case of the Leafs having interest in Nabokov or Turco I will occasionally debunk them...however, I have been getting inundated with emails, PMs, and questions on twitter regarding a few rumors that are out there...so here goes.. I will address the rumors and follow with what I have or haven't heard...If you all like this format, maybe Wacky Wednesdays could be a regular feature. I wouldn't do it more than once a week, because I am too busy talking to actual sources and attempting to provide you all with as much unique information as possible.

Too busy talking to actual sources? lolwut

Most Dubstep I hear is fusion based so it's no surprise people might confuse house, trance, dance, dnb, and so on for Dubstep.

This is interesting, not really dubstep, but still a unique style:

I personally don't like dubstep very much but I would still prefer it any day over death metal. How the frack can anyone listen to that sh*t? Seriously, I would rather listen to nails scratching a chalkboard.

If Death Metal was popular, it would be getting the same response as Justin Bieber, Dubstep, etc...

But I can agree. Death Metal/Screamo, etc... Is the worst genre of music in the world.

People have different tastes in music.

Also 'death metal' is a very simple way of classifying a very broad range of music.

Surely that many people aren't under the influence...

Just tried it under the influence. It still sounds like my sound card broke at the same time as the amp got cranked.

Must be taking the wrong drugs.

This is how I've always described dubstep. It's sounds so dumb. But the songs are like jingles in the sense that they get stuck in your head. WUBBBBBB WUBBBBB WAAHAHAH
I'm saying Aladeen a lot because http://forum.canucks...dpost__10922428

I bet when Schneider turns 38, he will have broken all of Luongo's records.

Why is it when i hear the genre term Dubstep i think of Sublime? Then a friend plays me some dubstep and i equate that to industrial techno?? Just give me some 90's punk and 80's thrash metal tyvm.

Explain me the difference between

Screamo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXb7pO01-sk

Metal:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr0aKbKaJSE

How is it any different, obviously guitar sounds different, As death Metal is more aggresive but they're both yelling like complete morons. What's the difference? They fall into the same category of genre.

How can people like that?

Vocals, lyrics, guitar, bass, drums, timing, speed, composition etc.

People like many types of music, that's beauty of it, just because you don't like it or think it's crap doesn't mean other people can't enjoy it for whatever reason.

Not sure if this is dubstep but I like it:

Also like this one (from A Serbian Film) and yes I've seen the movie.
It's messed up, like really messed up.
