Alex the Great
@TheFourthPeriod: To reiterate, Shane Doan will not be signing with anyone until July 8, at the earliest. Shane Doan is willing to give the Coyotes every opportunity to re-sign him, but if the team's future in Phoenix remains unclear in the next week, he'll then pursue other options. Doan, 35, will become an unrestricted free agent tomorrow, and will be free to sign with any team he so chooses. However, Doan isn't itching to leave the organization and "wants to give the Coyotes every opportunity" to sign him, his agent, Terry Bross, told TFP Saturday evening. Speaking to TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta, Bross indicated the earliest his client would sign a contract -- with the Coyotes or another club -- would presumably be July 8, the date in which the Coyotes will have a clearer picture as to whether or not they'll be staying in Arizona. If it is determined that the Coyotes' ownership situation is resolved and the team remains in Phoenix, it is expected that Doan will come to terms on a new deal with the club. But if the Coyotes' future remains cloudy, the sense is that Doan will sign with another team. Bross confirmed that they will still "take calls" and entertain offers from other clubs from July 1-8, and then make a decision. In 79 games with the Coyotes this past season, Doan registered 22 goals and 28 assists for 50 points. The Alberta native has spent his entire career with the Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets organization, having been drafted seventh-overall by the original Jets in 1995. Over his career, Doan has accumulated 318 goals and 470 assists for 788 points in 1,198 regular-season games.

Jaku
That's good, I'm glad he's giving the Coyotes a chance to figure it out. Very classy move, I hope for his sake, whatever happens and wherever he signs he enjoys it and is at peace with the situation.

Neversummer
Good for him for showing Pho some loyalty even at the risk of his own loss. Afterall, the musical chairs could end very quickly and he could be the one left standing after other UFA's sign with teams.
