Anyway, this could be one of those solid under-the-radar types of signing that pays dividends.

No. It won't.

At this point Brule will be lucky to land an NHL job. He is a bust, folks. Even with sheltered minutes, he could only put up a meager 5 goals 14pts in 33gp.

'Oh, but if you translate that to a full season...' So point me to where he last played a full season then. B-B-B-B-B-BUST!

No thanks. We already have Ebbett. We already have Schroeder, who has yet to prove that he's a bust or not.

If i took a dump, and that dump took a dump, ate its own dump and then took another dump, that dump would still know more than Eklund. Well not exactly a good first post but hey, what can you do. Love to get Brule for cheap though

Welcome to CDC. Nice dump.
Eklund had the sense to repeat something remotely reasonable this time.
Brule isn't the biggest guy, but is physical for his size, has obvious potential, looked alright playing for Phoenix this postseason, and could be interesting playing with Higgins and Hansen. If he was willing to sign a two-way contract at less than half his last cap hit, he could be a good depth option.

I'd love it if MG took a flyer on Brule, I've always thought he'd look good in a Canucks uniform.

We have enough depth at wings. Would not want him at center.

Eklund try Canucks are interested in Parise if you're looking for more hits.

Could be a cheap replacement for Pahlsson, I honestly wouldnt mind this

Samuel Påhlsson was so useless that I don't think we even need a replacement for him. Him gone is replacement enough. Gillis made an error with that trade.

But we could need Brule anyways.

I watched Brule play in Phoenix last season. He's not afraid to go into traffic, plays with a lot of energy, might be a good risk at a good price !

Gilbert Brule would be a good pickup if he would accept a two way contract. If he can't make the lineup, at least he would add skill to the Wolves.

btw Canucks "looking" at every single player in the UFA market.
That's what teams do at this time of year.
Means nothing.

I agree, save the one way- bottom 6 money for bigger, grittier guys.

I can't believe some ppl think this guy is our 3rd line center answer- he was a healthy scratch on the OILERS for gawd sakes!

This just in;

The Vancouver Canucks may or may not be looking at all the good players. There is a possibility they may talk to some as well. You heard it here first!

If you like looking at statistics to determine who's better, you're just a casual fan.

2.41 season GAA isn't very impressive. Let's not get into playoffs and his SV%.

Cory Schneider is the next Patrick Roy.

Canucks will not have Shroeder Ebbett and Brule on the roster. I don't think thats what MG has in mind when he says we are getting bigger and younger

We have plenty of bottom 6 depth at center, it's at top 6 where we could use the help with Kesler out. One of Schroeder or Ebbett might be able to do it but Brule wouldn't fit the bill. I'd rather we went after Mueller, as has been mentioned.

If this team lets go of Sang he will burn this team next year.

I say deploy Kesler at the pivotal 3rd line centre and trade for Weiss or Fleischmann or Grabovski. Not sure Grule is the right guy.

Brule improved a lot last year, 13 in 30 games and and plus 7, i'd take a chance on him.

Brule could be a good fit at third line center... but he is a RFA so we would have to give up draft picks or aquire him by trade.

Brule wasn't qualified, therefore, as of July 1st he is a UFA

Wow! Can't believe 85% of posters here would love to land Brule...
... a small, soft player and... a mega bust! An AHL player at best.
Oh yes,,, he is a Canadian boy and that is enough to sign him! :picard:

I can't believe 85% of the posters just repeat cliches without thinking for themselves.

Small does not always = soft. Old does not always = slow, etc...

I would actually like to see Brule on the third line.

Sedin - Sedin - Semin
Doan - Weiss - Kesler
Burrows - Brule - Kassian
Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen

Edler - Carle
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Garrison - Kulikov

Schneider
Lack

Weiss and Kulikov would be picked up in Luongo trade package. Then sign Brule, Carle, Semin and Doan through free agency.

:picard: Clearly youve never watched him play. Just because he is smaller doesnt mean hes soft. Please watch some highlights before you post stupid comments like this. Hes thrown huge hits his entire career, please youtube and see for yourself (i dont know how to post videos) and hes been in lots of fights. He has lots of grit

Everyone says hes a bust and that hit point totals are crapty, thats what happens when you play 3rd/4th line minutes on a defensive minded team. If you saw him in edmonton when he played with Penner and Gagner getting 1st line minutes, then you would know how good he can be with the right fit. Im not saying he is our saviour but he can help the team

Sheltered minutes? what exactly does that mean? He was 13th in ice time for coyotes forwards and still produced some numbers in the reg season and playoffs

When was the last time Ebbett or schroeder played a full season? Oh right, schroeder never, and ebbett never. If youre going to bash a player for something make sure the guys youre praising dont have the same downfall :picard:

Schroeder is also tiny, we dont need a tiny, non-phyiscal forward as our 2nd/3rd line centre
