So, what movies do you think need sequels?

IMO, the dead franchises need to be left.

So here's my picks:
Pulp fiction
Fifth element
Django
Godzilla(the one with hank azaria and mat broderick)
Independence day

Thats all i can conjure at the moment

Dune

I know they did the mini series...but it would be awesome for them to do God Emperor of Dune (4th book).

Howard the Duck

Edit: sequel OR prequel

Edit2: if not H the D, I thought Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was pretty funny, but covered very little of the original material. Could use some sequels there

Apparently a remake is in the early stages

Seriously. There's enough ideas floating around without resorting to butchering old movies with semantics of prequels/sequels.

Well, the question was, in your opinion, what films do you think should get a sequel? We already know franchises are being butchered.

Yeah...just a remake of the first Novel....

http://janeiris.hubp...o-Watch-Out-For

Why didn't they try something like one of the prequels? Like the Butlerian Jihad?

Ah well...hopefully it will do better than the first and then maybe they'll continue the series....

I hate sequels and prequels. 99% of the time they tarnish the impression a great movie left on you.

The only time they really work is when something was designed to be a trilogy or series.

Kids these days will never experience movies as the people from the 80's and 90's

Exactly what I was going to say. Apparently there WAS supposed to be a prequel explaining how the vampires met up (a big deal was made about the fact that they all seem to have different period clothing, meaning that they are from different eras). A scene showing the earthquake that created their cave would be cool.

Sadly, it would take a LOT of make up to make them look as young as they did! :sadno:

Not a sequel/prequel but for the love of god someone (if not Ron Howard) has to make The Dark Tower series into a string of films.

The Godfather Part II was certainly a great sequel. As good as the original Godfather. Godfather III not so much.

That rumour has been floating around for a while. A dark tower movie

What stephen king movies would you like to see on the silver screen?

Me?

The stand. Kings best work deserves a good movie, not that crap tv movie from the 90's
IT (done properly, although some parts are best left out) apparently casting is in the works
The dark tower and the pet cemetery are being set up
Carrie looks like it might be butchered.

Yes the Dark Tower series has been purchased but the studio who was supposed to make it backed out due to production costs and it is currently collecting dust. Ron Howard is apparently the man who decides what will happen but he is probably busy right now making the Arrested Development movie :P.

Besides the Dark Tower, I would like to see remakes of The Dark Half and The Dead Zone (I also wouldn't mind seeing It rebooted). I wish Frank Darabont had decided to make the Longwalk before Hunger Games came out, a travesty in my opinion. The Stand is such a good novel, I don't know of anyone who could pull it off without it being viewed as "cheesy" (kind of like what they did to Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series or what I predict they will do to the upcoming Odd Thomas movie).

That's why I said 99% of the time. Of course there is the odd exception.

Easily my favorite set of books growing up. The Dark Tower, done properly, would be twice as long as the Lord of the Rings. Man I just don't see any movie studio doing it justice. Way too much oppurtunity to ruin the story by not including all the best parts.

Pulp Fiction
Total Recall (prequel to original, not that Colin crap)
Planet Terror, just for fun

My fear as well. There is a lot of material to cover but considering the story's structure, a lot could be cut out without hurting the overall storyline. My only stipulation is that Anthony Hopkins would have to return as Ted Brautigan, non-negotiable.
