Amish Rake Fighter
Love Salo but he's as fragile as a baby panda egg
Rocket Robin
Always loved Salo but smartly HE went after some late career money that we just couldnt gamble on going forward. I want him to do well as always been a fav but getting Garrison who could work out longer term was the right move. . I agree 100% well said bud
The Creature Blue Lagoon
Who cares, Salo doesn't play here anymore, and Garrison is a plug.
casofilia.canuck.nz
If the past is anything to go by, Sami will outperform most of the NHL in the number of injuries. The season is only a few games in and it is a short season so he may be a bit safer this season but wait till he has to pay a full season. Go Canucks Go. The Bookie
Salo is +8 and Hedman is + 6 and are the top Plus/Minus leaders in the league, that is a sign of instant chemistry and teamwork. Meanwhile, Chara is +2 and so is Beregron*. 4 games = too small a sample size. I'll be interested to check back in with this thread at the halfway point. *vInTaGe*
I wouldn't be surprised, but I'm happy we have Garrison.
-Vintage Canuck-
Anyone noticed people who have been registering lately have been creating useless threads?
Jougo
He's from the hometown of the Sedins AND BY FAR!!!! No, it's "BY FAR, they are on fire so far."
DownUndaCanuck
He just had an amazing game, on ice for all 6 goals scored, registered 2 assists as well while Garrison really hasn't done much for the Canucks at all yet. I wouldn't be surprised if Garrison was just a one-hit-wonder to be honest, you don't just dish out long, expensive contracts for one good season. Garrison > Salo in the long run though. oldnews
AT THE MOMENT, down in the south, the Tampa Bay Lighting are really lighting the lamp and with Sami Salo, the veteran D man who use to play for us signed a 2 year (3.7M/per year) contrast with Tampa in the off-season. He's now paired up with Victor Hedman, a 6-6 monster from the hometown of the Sedin's and BY FAR, they are on fire so far. Sami Salo's guidance and experience will help shape how Victor Hedman will be in the future. Now what I am saying is that we made a mistake letting Salo go and signing Garrison who had only 1 good season and may not show consistency which may be a problem. So my question is, will Salo out-perform Garrison? Keep in mind they have a stacked 1st line down there. Love Sami. My favorite player and extremely hard to see him go - and I hope he rocks in Tampa and they obviously needed him considering he landed two years and is playing on their top pairing. Love it, but I'm not going to engage in this Garrison vs Salo thing. Under the last CBA the 35+ risk (cap hit counts regardless) was a hard one for a contender to take - Tampa on the other hand isn't up against the cap. I'm not going to engage in this Salo vs Garrison thing - Sami is a stud who will produce nicely in Tampa - Garrison willl produce just fine for a long time. Seems to me he's leading the Canucks right now at +3 - not surprising though - they guy is a solid two way top four blueliner. Best of luck Sami. nucks_rule1
no one will take it away form Sami that he is a very reliable dman (when healthy) has a bomb of a shot and smart defensively. The problem was his age and his health. He couldn't stay healthy and when he was he couldn't catch up to guys often taking bad penalties. regardless the Canucks still wanted him back but TB gave him some nice money to go live under the sun. Miss Sami and wish him well.
NuckleheadFan
I liked Sami in a Canucks uniform, but I think he wanted little more stability in a 2 year contract and the Canucks were only willing to give him a 1 year contract (like last year). Wish him well. He is all class.
Nashi
I miss Salo but it is too early to come to any conclusions and he is not outperforming Garrison.
shoots&scores
Hope Sami doesn't give him any tips on staying healthy! Kiddin'. Love Salo.
frazzY
I hope he does well in tbay and stays healthy for once. But why compare him and Garrison and turn it into a negative? I dont understand the fans here..
Swedish Vikings
Salo has always been our most solid D-men. Sad to see him go.

Tortorella's Rant
I was going to say that Swedish Viking is King of the BS but then I saw he was defending Kassian. So either it is the same guy and he's defending Kassian to throw us off or this really is someone else. This does sound like a typical King of the BS post
wallstreetamigo
TRADE LUONGO TO GET SALO BACKKKKKK!!!!!!THEN WE CAN HAVE GARRISON AND SALO AND NO LONGER NEED TO COMPARE WHO WILL HAVE A BETTER YEAR.......win win for all....
