Ryan Smith? Lol this team is about youth and the changing of the gaurd. Give to Eberle it's an obvious choice.

It's gotta be Hall. Based on past resume's, Hall's two memorial cups with WIndsor are way more impressive than Eberle's 2009 world junior win (with a overly stacked team canada). To win one of the hardest trophies in sports (the memorial cup) back to back without Windsor being the host team in either of them is very very impressive.

Well lets look at Hall's competition/teammates

2009:
Windsor notable players: Ellis, Blacker, Henrique, Watson, Wellwood, Loktionov, Hall
Rimouski: M. Bourdon, Cormier
Drummodville: Kulikov, Couturier
Kelowna: Backlund, Benn, Barrie, Myers

Windsor has the clear better roster. Kelowna is second.

2010:
Windsor: Ellis, Fowler, Henrique, Kassian, Wellwood, Hall
Moncton: Gormley, D. Savard, Kabonov, G. Bourque
Calgary: No NHL players
Brandon: Glennie, Calvert, Stone, B. Schenn, Hamonic

Windsor has even more future stars. Brandon is the only team that looks decent.

Don't get me wrong, winning back-to-back cups is definately impressive, but Windsor had stacked rosters both years.

captain should be eberle... not hall.. if its not ebs then management and the coaching staff is flawed.. hes a natural leader and clutch as anyone.. plus what good is a captain if they are gonna be gettin suspended for dirty hits and injured for long peroids of time (hall).

...and despite having all those great players, Hall was the leader and Memorial Cup MVP in back to back years. And it's not like he was 19 and 20 when he did it. He did it in his 16 and 17 year old seasons. Basically everyone but Fowler had already been drafted. Henrique was 2 years older than Hall.

Also, it's not like he just had a great week at the Memorial Cup. Combine those two regular seasons and he had a goals per game average of 0.65 and a points per game of 1.63. That prorates to 39 goals and 98 points over 60 games. In the OHL playoffs he had 33 goals and 71 points in 39 games. Which prorates to 51 goals and 110 points. So he clearly elevates his game in the big moments. Again, this is all before he was even drafted.

A lot of players can be great when they're the only offense star on a team in junior while getting 35+ minutes a night but it takes something else to he the leader of a great team.

Also, keep in kind that in 2010 when Eberle was 19 years old and had 13 points in 6 games...a 17 year old Hall in his draft year had 12 points.

Even recently. Eberle had 34 goals and 76 points last season. Hall has 32 goals and 73 points in his last 82 games despite being drafted 2 years later. Keep in mind that they also play on a line together and it's Hall that drives the offense on their line.

I also don't know why Hall is considered immature. Watch one of his post game interviews. He never points the finger at his teammates or the refs. He talks about how he could be better after a loss.

Eberle is a good leader and I'd have no problem with him being captain but the Oilers are Hall's team. No offense to Eberle but you would never see him drop to his knees and try and block an empty net goal while already being down by THREE goals in his first game back from an injury where he had a player step on his face like Hall did.

Sure it's reckless behaviour but he's one of the most competitive guys you'll ever see and that's part of what would make him a good captain.

...and people really need to stop calling Hall dirty because of ONE play where he basically missed a hip check at Center ice. If Shanahan thought there was anything more than being wreck less to that play, Hall would have received more than just a 2 game suspension. There wasn't an intent to injure and one play shouldn't define a player. That's just stupid.

Hall. Eberle is one cocky guy apparently from someone who went to his high school.

Hall seems too reckless, which also makes him injury prone.

It should be noted that Eberle has taken way more big hits than Hall this season. I'm not sure Hall has even been caught with his head down.

They should give it to their Trevor Linden - Ryan Smyth the veteran and longtime Team Canada captain for the WC. When he retires, hand it to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
