Had we been missing Henrik Sedin all season, instead of Ryan Kesler, would we be better or worse than we are right now?

So, as we know, we are 13-9-6 on the season.

Henrik has put up 27 points in 28 games (solid production).

(random generated lineup).

Raymond Kesler Higgins
Sedin Schroeder Burrows
Hansen Lapierre Kassian
Weise Ebbett Pinnizzotto

The teams pretty used to playing without Kesler or without Kesler being effective so isn't it an obvious answer.

It allows you to play the matchup game much more effectively, and also spreads the offense onto 2 seperate lines.
(Kesler centering 1 line, Daniel playing the wing on another)

Henrik, because that would mean we now have no first line.
As it is now:

Line 1
Line 3
Line 4a
Line 4b

Take Hernik out, and it's now:

Line 2
Line 3
Line 4a
Line 4b

I think with Henrik its
Line 1, 3, 4A, 4B
but with Kesler its
Line 1B, 2A, 4A, 4B.

You would be able to use Daniels line (Schroeder + Burrows) as an offensive line, and use Keslers line (Raymond/Higgins) as a 2 way line that would provide offense/shut down opposing lines and free up softer matchups for Daniels line.

What a stupid topic

Says the guy whos most recent trade proposal was

Luongo, Booth, Schroeder, 1st rounder in 2012 or 2013 for Nash
Kesler, Tanev, Raymond for Getzlaf and a 4th in 2012

The NHL is a fixed old boys club. I've come to acceptance with that and just watch for entertainment. The 2011 & 2012 Canucks are champs in my books. Go Canucks Go!

Worse. Way worse.

Hank leads the team in points (tied with Daniel for the lead in goals, leads the team in assists) and incredibly is a +16 on the season, despite the awful defense and goaltending we've seen lately. Kesler, while he would make a bigger impact defensively and physically, does not do as much for the team overall as Hank does.

Hank is playing like an MVP again, we lose him and we don't make the playoffs, with or without Kesler in the lineup, it doesn't matter.

Henrik Sedin is the most important player on the team without question and he is having an amazing season. Take him out and this team is in the Seth Jones hunt. Maybe the emotion of losing him carries them for a while but you don't lose a player like that and survive. I used to think Daniel was better and maybe he can score more but Henrik is doing so much this year.

Henrik is the Canucks. No disrespect to Daniel but we've seen what the Canucks are without Daniel, Without kesler. We haven't seen the Canucks without Henrik and that my friends will be the worse nightmare you could ever think of.

When Henrik goes, we go.

To be honest I'd rather have Henrik out, and grab Seth Jones from the draft -_-

Easy math

Henrik has 27pts in 28gp

Kesler has 5pts in 7gp x that by four to make the same 28 and it is 20pts in 28gp

Henrik more points than kesler would have had.

Losing Henrik would have this team trying to play a game they have not had to play in what... 8 seasons?

Losing a player who has been on your roster every single game for that many seasons would severely hamper the team, even with Kesler in the lineup.

Do you honestly think 7 games is a large enough sample to project scoring totals?
Also comparing Henriks production to Keslers is kind of apples- oranges

There's more to hockey than offensive output, let alone goals and assists.

Henrik is the best player on this team. We wouldn't be able to bandage a loss like him. Kesler hasn't played that well since 2011.

Losing Henrik would be more devastating.

Not only in regards to the points he produces but it might hurt Daniel's production too.

Hank for sure, we would be without our best and only player on the Canucks that can pass.

IF Hank could learn to be defensively responsible, (instead of sitting in the penalty box each night) I'd say goodbye, Kes. He's proving to be made of glass, while Hank's our current Iron Man.

What's hanks + - this year?

Edit: found it...

Hank is +16, best on the team

Kess is -4 in seven games played (bad start for him)

Kass is -7 lowest on the team!!!!!!!!

I hate +/-... worst stat in the world. But regardless Kesler was doing that one a broken foot. Probably affected his ability to backcheck/play strong defensively.

Also, using a sample size of 7 games will not give you any sort of relevant stats.
What holds more weight regarding defensive play? Keslers Selke, or his -4 in 7 games?

Lol it would hurt to lose a sedin over kesler just cause keslers injury prone and I don't see him having another dominant season anytime soon. And besides even though sedins are not the same as they used to be you can always count on them, I can't remember lthe last time I counted on kesler to score a clutch goal or set up a play that got us a winning goal.

I want trying to bash kess with stat, just thought it was surprising. As far as the kass + - I think it's a telling stat you see him standing there watching people shoot on a reg bassis, I'm actually surprised its only -7.

if we lose henrik we will be talking about who we should be drafting in the top 10. That's how badass it is to lose Henrik.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares
