The media is all over it: powerplay is pretty much ineffective... the Canucks have barely won a number of recent games by narrow margins in low-scoring games but no one can really put their finger on what the problem is. Is it just that Kesler is out, and so if other teams contain the Sedins, they can pretty much shut down the Canuck attack?

What do the Canucks need to do? Has the team reached its peak, having become a step or two slower than everyone else, all of a sudden? Seriously, this lack of scoring is so unlike the Canucks we've become used to over the past decade. Everyone's worried somewhat. :sadno:

CDC is crawling with 'experts' that seem to have answers for everything. What's wrong with our scoring and how do the Canucks get it back on track? :excl:

First line gets shut down, no other lines for teams to really worry about since we have no second line.
No powerplay either.
Most of all, no heart.

We used to have two legit scoring threats,

Sedin line, Kessler line.

Teams would have to deal with both. Now all they have to do is shut down the Sedins.

One scoring line isn't enough to be successful in this league.

After the Boston series management tried to change our teams formula from 'skilled' to 'tough' and it hasn't worked. Lack of scoring from losing and trading skilled goal scorers whome I will leave unnamed. I think it's pretty obvious if you have been paying attention.

If you like looking at statistics to determine who's better, you're just a casual fan.

2.41 season GAA isn't very impressive. Let's not get into playoffs and his SV%.

Cory Schneider is the next Patrick Roy.

Because we can't score off the rush..

Raymond/Hansen/Kesler/Burrows are the only ones on team that can legitimately score off the rush..

No offense but you can't put kassian with kesler or booth. Kassian is totally not NHL material especially as a forward.

It used to be lack of scoring depth, now it's lack of primary scoring. Sedins need to step the **** up.

Lol at the idea that kassian booth and ballard being injured is a key reason.. Because these players have provided so much offense while playing this year right?
Lol this forum is too funny.

Im not convinced that even Kes coming back right now would make much of a difference.. is he gonna score three goals a game on a night like tonight?

Why cant some of you just deal with the fact that this team is playing lazy uninspired hockey? Why not call it as it is instead of dreaming up excuses? The pp is in a coma, the defence has been brutal all season and the canucks cant seem to play a full game start to finish.. what does that have to do with kesler or any other player being injured? Do these excuses allow a pass to all the other players on the ice or to av? Come ON

Look at this lineup.. Even when healthy this is the same damn team that couldn't score during the 2011 run. MG lost out on Doan and that was his only card. He won't give up the assests to aquire a top six guy cause we don't have them, or can't afford to trade them. Factor in the Sedins looking like they've regressed far sooner than expected and Burrows just having an awful year.. god that contract doesn't look so good now. Booth was not the anwser for the 2nd line, nor do i expect him to be all that effective if he ever comes back. Raymond is a streaky scorer. Kassian not ready yet to produce on a 2nd line level yet.

Shoulda dealt Luo when there was some actual buzz instead of being greedy.

We have to many hot/cold players. Higgins,Hansen,Raymond are all hot/ cold players. When tere hot we am score when there cold we can't.
In our cup year we had more consistency and Torres was really our only hot/cold player.
I think it's good to have players like that, but not when there all on your top 6

Lack of depth due to injuries. Too much invested in a D corps that is severely under performing for the most part. A lot of players who only seem to score in streaks (Raymond, Higgins, Hansen). Daniel not playing very well - not shooting and trying to be far too cute with the puck at times. Too much play around the boards on PP.

Gets a little better with Kesler back, but need another top 9 player AT LEAST, or we're going to get stomped by Chicago if we make the second round.

Don't count Kesler out, are you seeing what Lupul is doing? He came back and he's putting up muti-point games every night. Kesler is waaay better than Lupul, don't count him out.

Hopefully they're just saving their energy for the playoffs... Pretty much all one goal games during the winning streak. We used to run away with games just a couple years ago.

Regular Season: Under sell

Playoffs: Over deliver

We need our injured Americans back!

Sedins are on the decline. They're only going to get worse. Sorry CDC, that's how it is.

Burrows' offensive game is largely due to the Sedins. Because of their declining production, he's been less of an offensive force. It's not a big drop off, but a drop off none the less. Only on pace for about 20 goals as opposed to his usual 25-30 range.

Edler can't seem to step up his offensive game. It's been dwelling in the 40-50 point range for five seasons now.

We basically have no second line.

...

I can see why the offense sucks.

But there's other alarming factors we should be worried about that have nothing to do with offense.

kesler would help.

When Malhotra was first here we were unbeatabe literally. That was the best canucks team ive ever seen but ofcourse him being gone had a huge effect even though we still made the finals.

Lost erhoff a pp guy. Lost hodgeson our clutch second pp guy. Lost salo added garison who cant hit the net. Added booth who knows how to lose and get injured.

Added sestito who loses every fight and cant play.

Sedins have no support. Falling apart dont know if mg or av had more influence on those latest moves. Maybe it is what it is like bert said.

Remember when our dmen would pinch in on the PP and the Sedins would constantly rotate and find the backdoor play? Remember when our PP had a net presence?
Neither do I.

Streaky second line.

Predictable top line and rediculously predictable power play.

A defense that sucks at defense and is forced to deal with that issue first.

No Erhoff and no salo - directly effects the above two points....I'm sorry but JaGarr seems nice and all but he can't hit the net.
