With our cap issues we have tons of issues to deal with before we sign any of those ufa...

I'm also assuming a ton of teams will dump players to clear their cap issues.

Go big on Clarkson. Dump the tweeners and build a solid definite top 6. It would be nice to have set lines instead of 6-7 different guys who play on our 2nd line.

By far one of the weakest FA pools in years..... I think we need to build through trades. We're already over the cap for next year, and we need some young guns asap.

Agreed. Next year is going to be insane.

Malkin, Heatley, Gaborik, Vanek, Thornton, Marleau, Datsyuk, Bouwmeester, Boyle, MIller, Phaneuf, Sedins, Timonen, Markov, Lundqvist, Sedins, Pavelski, etc etc

Morrow is done.

MacArthur brings us nothing that we dont already have up and down the lineup.

Ribiero is a bigger diver than anyone on our team.

Penner for $2m or less, he's so slow now.

Stalberg doesn't bring us much we dont have

Dupuis is old and will retire a Penguin

Clarkson is gritty and good, I'd prefer him over Clowe who is slow and fails to create on his own.

I agree with almost all of what you're saying, but I kind of like MacArthur. Nothing special, but I think he would be a good improvement over Raymond. Good third liner who can pot a few goals if he's needed to move up in the lineup--as will always be the case with Canucks' injury issues.

He may not be as fast as Raymond (I'm not sure), but I know he's fast. He's better on his legs, too. Hits more (not a lot), and scores a few more goals, too. MacArthur just turned 28, and Raymond turns 28 before the season starts, so there's no age issue.

IMO, MacArthur would be a solid and relatively cheap pickup for depth.

Screw signing free agents. I want to see some young players in the Canucks lineup next year. Gaunce as a 3rd line centre, maybe Lain as a 4th line centre (depending on how well he does at camp), Jensen on the wing, Corrado and Tanev on the blue line, Mallet on the 4th, give Sauve a game or two, Schroeder (if he doesn't get traded), a young guy that we would get in the Lu trade, etc. I want to see some young guns in the Canucks lineup next year. We need an injection of youth and we need to start developing our rookies at the NHL level.

I remember when the phrase "Young Gun" was reserved for Emilio Estevez movies and Upper Deck Fedorov hockey cards

Not Alexandre Mallet and Kellan Lain

It seems like everyone on this board seems to think Torres is some sort of god, some sort big game changer. I mean if he is that a good a player and a 'game breaker' why weren't there 29 other teams wanting him at the the trade deadline? or when he was a FA, the guy is a solid 3rd line player, nothing more nothing less, quit acting like he's going to be a game changer for us cuz he's not.

I have it on good authority that Shawn matthias from Florida wants to come here... I hope he can be part of the loungo deal. He's still a rfa, if we wanted him via free agency we'd need to wait a year. He'd be a great fit in a canucks sweater

Would be really happy if we got Clowe or Clarkson for the second line. Bringing in Torres back would be a big boost to the fourth line. Would absolutely love Bickell as a fourth liner. Wouldn't mind bringing Penner in for the fourth either.

A big no to Ribeiro though. Would just compound our issues.

Well I would take McDonald for the simple fact that we wouldnt have to worry about playing against him anymore. The guy always makes me shutter whenever we play against him. I would love to see the Canuck killer stats against us. And yes.... He is miles better than Ebbet

I believe Clowe would be better than keeping Booth. Look at how many more games Clowe has played in the past three seasons then Booth. I think Clarkson too but I see him getting a much larger contract. Also Morrow for leadership and desire to win. Besides Kesler we are lacking that. Would be great to have Morrow on the 3rd line. Also his cost maybe lower.

Burrows Sedin Kassian
Sedin Kesler Clowe
Higgins Schreoder Morrow
Jensen Lapierre Hansen

Reason is I believe the Sedins are the best passers. No scoring with lack of good passing.

Clowe will most likely resign with New York, he's doing great there.

I'm still more depressed at the fact he chose them over us than that we lost against San Jose.

I can't wait for Torres to pull a stupid penalty and cost San Jose a series.

Guy's he's a hand grenade waiting to have the pin pulled. I don't want him or players like Cooke within a 100 miles of the team.

Top of my list: Clarkson. (although we'll have to shed a bunch of salary to make it happen)

He can show Kassian the right way to play the power forward game...
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Personally, I think the guy on the Blues that does the most damage to us is Alex Steen...

This list will probably grow by about 20 players or so after the buyouts and not all bought out players will be useless some will just be coming off bad contracts. For instance if Booth is bought out he would easily get a contract somewhere else at about $2M per.

You have to ask yourself where Booth will fit in if he is not a top 6 player. Even if as you suggest he was resigned at $2 mil it places him on a 3rd line. He has size(and will hit) and speed but seems to turn the puck relatively easily. Van cannot keep him at $4.5M.

David Clarkson
Douglas Murray

Trade Bieksa+Schroeder for Brayden Schenn+2nd (unrealistic but whatever).

Luongo for Brian Campbell (Again unrealistic).

I think we should be targeting a backup goalie, a RH depth defenseman, and 1-2 top 9 wingers.

Backup: Thomas Greiss.
Depth D-man: Ryan O'Byrne
Winger 1: David Clarkson
Winger 2: Eric Nystrom

But how does that solve our number one problem, which is lack of scoring?
