Just watching the Hot Stove from the 2nd intermission of the Pitt ,BOS game ... they start talking about who NYR are looking at for coaches... and Healy says:
" there are strong considerations for Mark (messier) to coach the rangers, but the hard decision for the Rangers is alain vigneault , who is out in the market and avaliable, how do you turn down a guy with his record and his success? if he wouldve had a goaltender he wouldve won a stanley cup." And no one on the panel even flinched at that comment just moved right along.......

It was the media who labeled Luongo as number 1 in the league when he came to Van ... Now on the way out the media is labeling him a pile of number 2.

Toronto media can't hide their anger that they didn't pry Luongo out of here for nothing.

They've been doing nothing but try to tear him down and lower his value ever since.

It's pretty pathetic for so called "professionals".

Right?!
(Though it's actually worse. We only scored 8 goals in the finals, making our goal per game average only 1.14. :()

When your goalie's number of Stanley Cup Finals shutouts is higher than your teams' goals per game average in the finals, the goalie ain't the problem!

Healey is the biggest troll. There's other media members I dislike more but Healey is always dependable to make dumb comments. Anyone who objectively watched it knew we didn't score enough goals. Goaltending wasn't the main fault.

If any of our media were there, they'd sit on their hands as well.

Sick of TO-based clowns talking about our team like it's gospel when they're all idiots with no friggin' clue.

So, Luongo never had a meltdown in Boston?

Yep he did. He also got 2 shutouts. Or, the same number of times his team managed to score more than 1 goal.

Also, the same number of times his team scored 0 goals.

Also, the number of games we ended up losing where Boston was kept to no more than a single goal through half the game, giving the team ample time to get into it.

He didn't say that.

The thread concerns Vancouver being able to win the cup with an average goaltender giving an average performance.

I don't think we would have even won 1 game with a goalie giving average performances in games 1,2, and 5.

Well. last time I checked, going into overtime zero- zero gives a team a better chance to win than letting in 8 goals in regulation.

If you like looking at statistics to determine who's better, you're just a casual fan.

2.41 season GAA isn't very impressive. Let's not get into playoffs and his SV%.

Cory Schneider is the next Patrick Roy.

We did have a Goalie in the wins. But the Bruins were shooting into an open net in Boston.

it was everyones fault. from the forwards, to the D, to the goaltending, to the coaching.

you cannot ignore the fact the canucks couldnt score
you cannot ignore the fact that the luongo had meltdowns vs chicago and boston
you cannot ignore the fact that AV loves plugs

was it luongos fault we lost to boston...yes...look at games 3 and 4...lost a ton of momentum..but on that note...it was luongo who won us both games 1 and 2.

double edged sword

Watch Bowness somehow mess up Tampa Bay's already amazing 2 powerplay units...he'll probably tell Stamkos to do drop passes from centre ice, take him out from the faceoff dot, and place him infront of the goalie

It is. But then, he got twice as many shutouts as 8 against games. Luo had 2 bad games, 2 shutouts and did well enough the rest of the time. His team failed more than he did.

Besides, how many SCF games can you really expect to win when your team needs more than regulation to get a single goal?

Funny how people think it's ok to expect the goalie to be perfect, but not to expect the rest of the team to be merely good.

3.37 GAA in Healy's career.
.887 and 166 wins in 437 NHL regular season games.13 wins in 37 playoff games played.3.36 GAA.
Really credible for a loser.

If a game goes into overtime 0-0 or 1-1, no one is blaming the shooters, they are just praising the goaltenders up and down.

I don't blame Lou for loosing the series but I sure as hell do for not keeping us in every game.
