Israel the most racist country on earth?

I know this is going to attract the paid Hasbara crowd like flies to a rotting piece of meat. But reality is becoming impossible to ignore.....

Just last week the Mayor Itimar Shimoni of the Israeli city of Ashkelon mass-fired all workers of Arab decent, and laughed off criticism that he was even violating Israeli discrimination law. He even said he would not hire any arabs. This in addition to the epidemic of arabs getting mass fired across Israel. He literally just made it official as a matter of stated Government policy.

Imagine if the mayor of Vancouver made an announcement that all workers of X decent have been fired, and no worker of this ethnic background will be rehired? Would the city of Vancouver tolerate such a policy?

Now today Israel has approved a "jewish state law". which gives the government the authority to revoke resident status for any palestinian or their relatives accused of any acts of "violence" including throwing rocks at armoured military vehicles in a protest.

That means if a relative of yours (say a brother, cousin, father etc..) throws rocks at an Israeli army patrol in a protest. You will lose you residency permit alongside your brother and other members of your family arbitrarily selected by Israeli authtorities. that means you become an illegal alien overnight with no ability to work or function.

To put this in perspective:

Arab Israeli's have citizenship's because they live in "Israel proper" (land recognized as before 67 occupationnas Israeli land)

The Palestinians with residency were the ones living in Israeli occupied territory. For them to accept Israeli citizenship is tantamount to them accepting Israeli occupation of their lands (universally recognized by the UN, and virtually all member states including the US)

these are the group of people Israel has been systematically trying to ethnic cleanse for decades and which this law is specifically targeted against.

The amount of mass murder and state practised racism Israel gets away with is vomit inducing. the last country that so badly discriminated in an official capacity was Aparthied South Africa. How come the world stood up to South Africa, But stays silent to Israel?

There are plenty of countries that have racism embedded in their laws, practices etc. Israel is racist and gets special attention for some bizarre reason, but I doubt it's the most racist.

I have traveled a lot and in my journeys I can say young Israelis are the biggest douche bags. I didn't get a racist vibe, but certainly a condescending, egotistical asshat vibe.

The problem is the status. Israel wants the international status of a Sweden/Denmark. but wants to act like Apartheid South Africa.

the problem is their privlidged international status. Israel should be receiving the same treatment and sanctions as South Africa until it changes its policies...

The problem isn't Israel really. As it will do whatever it thinks it can get away with. The problem is with Israel's western enablers.

Israel is a tiny state, with very little strategic depth, resource poor and surrounded by enemies or potential enemies. If the western countries wanted to, They could easily bring Israel to her knees with very moderate sanctions and force it to change its ways...

I believe the EU is finally considering some sanctions with teeth on Israel. More of this is needed

Care to comment on what actually happened?

An Israeli mayor removed workers from one specific site outside a kindergarten, after residents complained following several massacres of Israeli citizens. The move was then condemned by just about every other Israeli official in the country, and the workers were put back on the site. That's hardly systematic. In fact, it represents the state stepping in to help a discriminated group.

The bizarre thing about commentary on this issue is the obsession with certain people to completely make things up when it comes to Israel. Clearly what the mayor was doing was racist. However, no one bothers to report how his actions were widely condemned in Israeli society, despite an ongoing ethnic conflict.

And no I am not being paid.

Blame the early UN and UK for putting them in a location surrounded on three sides by people with different beliefs and displacing people that have lived there for centuries?

Maybe if they were moved to Madagasgar there would have been less problems?

I'd agree, a lot of Young Israelis are d-bags. It's largely a cultural thing. In Israeli society it is considered polite to be blunt and straight forward. In Canadian society we like to be relatively withdrawn and shy.

Once again way off.

Israel is forging very close alliances with several EU countries:

Israel has recently forged a strong alliance with Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Romania, all EU countries:

It's all money guys. The people at the top of the Zionist ladder have cash, and it was their money and influence that brought Israel into being.

They have influential people back in the US making sure Israel remains an ally despite any human rights violations Israel commits in it's own state.

In the West, if you speak out against the Israeli occupation and tyranny, you will be labeled an anti-Semite.

This of course is ridiculous nonsense from the masses of uneducated, christian Americans who don't understand that Palestinians speak a Semitic language, and unlike the majority of their Jewish overlords, have been living there speaking it for many centuries

(Modern day Hebrew hadn't been used as a day-to-day spoken language for many years until the late 19th century)

No one put them anywhere. There has always been a constant Jewish presence in what is now Israel despite constant attempts to destroy them. The land around Israel is not historically muslim or Arab. It's historically very multicultural. It wasn't until the late 19th century following several major massacres (think in the 100s of thousands and millions): Kurds, Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, etc...and the replacement of these people by Arabs from Saudia Arabia, that the land became more or less exclusively muslim and Arab.

Also, the UK recently released on exhibit of what the area around Jerusalem (where all of the "settlements" are being built) looked like in the 1860s. Hardly anyone living there:

There are numerous editorials on this exact same issue.

I actually brought this exact thing in to question earlier this week in another thread and some Cab got all pissy about it and used his opinion to refute it while refusing to actually research the subject.

Here is a reference for this for those in question.

The minority that is the ultra orthodox hates their own kind for wanting more freedoms. Up to and including spitting on and stoning their own women for going to school or holding hands with boys not of the ultra orthodox sects and not forgetting their massive stance against homo sexuality including spitting on and ostracizing.

The Far Right representing the simply Hasidic members despise the ultra orthodox for their backwards beliefs and the fact they refuse to vote with them or allow them into their congregations because of their "liberal views"

The centrists or liberals as is representing the majority are reviled for questioning why the state HAS to be a religious state, this includes the hate coming from the Ultra Orthodox, the far right and Hasidic as well as the members of the country over the age of 50 who wonder why the youth refuse to pick up arms and fight the enemies of said state.

And here is where it gets REALLY good.

A ruling party that not only hates Palestinians, but also and not including, other members of the semtic pheno-type and blood line, African migrants, anyone not pro Israel

All of this while forgetting that now the entire population is galvanized against the following. The UK, France, Sweden and large parts of the EU for speaking out against the Palestinian issue, Egypt, Growing parts of America, African and Chinese migrants, Australians for their questioning of Palestinian Partheid and basically ANYONE not of the current Isreali beleif in their own dominance in the region.

There are MOUNTAINS of videos on this not exclusive to youtube.

But honestly, the end result is that racists are found ALL over the world, but once you mix religion into the countries charter, make the population hyper aggressive and throw a smattering of the UN can't do squat to us it gets dangerous.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=fX3E9FcWN7s

Now I REALLY want to stress that this is NOT endemic to ONLY Israel. That is NOT the case I am trying to make at all.

Racism is alive and prevalent in ALL countries of the world, one needs only visit Shanghai or Mumbai and note that to be true as people from both cities are reviled in other parts of the country.

But Israel is a unique case where war, cultural and religious issues as well as the threat of incursions feed fear. Then when you mix a leadership caste that is so pro war and so fixed on the belief of their own divine purpose in the world along with a military partner in the US that basically gives them carte blanche in the region it gets decidedly scary.

Israeli much like Palestine right now are raising a new generation of angry children and teenagers. This hate we see in the aging population and the religious caste is being passed on to the youth in both countries.

Racism is NOT a specialty of Israel, but they are falling deeper in to it than is being reported based on unique issues in that region of the world.

It doesn't mean we need to be looking at a country across the ocean and pointing fingers when our own neighbours hate "that pakistani store owner" or your buddy is making fun of "that asian kid with the lisp"

Israel has issues they need to fix, the true story is how these issues are being passed on to the next generation.

The link you provided is nearly three years old. Have they forged any new ties in that time?

Suggesting that Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Romania are of any significance and have any pull within the EU is a massive stretch. The EU is Germany and France. They call the shots.

Israel has a "special relationship" with Germany. Although I'd agree that Germany has more pull due to its huge economic standing, I don't see how France has any more influence than the UK, Italy, Spain, etc..

Israel recently signed a "free skies" agreement with the EU:

http://www.jpost.com/Diplomacy-and-Politics/Israel-EU-formally-sign-Open-Skies-agreement-316038

They also signed an agreement on trade for pharmaceuticals:

http://ec.europa.eu/health/files/international/2013_qa_israel-eu.pdf

Israel's relations with Greece have progressed and are now widening into a potential natural gas pipeline that would supply much of the EU as an alternative to Russian supplies:

http://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-pitches-massive-natural-gas-pipeline-plan-to-europe/

Considering that aviation, pharmaceuticals, and soon natural gas are 3 of the major portions of the Israeli economy, this hardly shows a trend towards any kind of boycott.

Israel has issues they need to fix, the true story is how these issues are being passed on to the next generation.

So you're taking a bunch of isolated incidents and using them to condemn the whole society. Did you also the part where thousands of people recently marched in support of the ethnic minorities:

http://www.haaretz.com/news/national/thousands-in-jerusalem-protest-racism-against-ethiopian-israelis-1.407998

Israel is in the midst of an awful ethnically based war. Of course this going to flare up hatred. If you asked Palestinians about there views on Jews/Israelis the responses you'd get would be much worse. Even if you went to the UK and asked people their opinions on Polish people, you'd be able to get all sorts of soundbytes and racism.

Once again, you also need to do a much better job of picking your links. That hidden camera video was staged in order to find the reactions of Israelis to a racist shopkeeper. The video ends with a Jewish woman buying the Arab woman a coffee after the Jewish shop owner, who was an actor, supposedly refused to sell to her. The Jewish woman is in tears after hearing the way the shop keeper was talking to the muslim woman.

Clearly most "racist country in the world".

I have never noticed this. All the ones I have met have been very friendly, especially to Canadians.

Sure, it's just my experience. But I've encountered them several times, in totally different places and most, not at all, were total douche bags.

Do you have ANYTHING you can post that is not directly from an Israeli source? Something impartial? AP, BBC something of the sort?

This is very true.

D baggedness is not specific to any one region or people in the world.

A-Holes can be found everywhere.

Look no further than your average Israeli thread on the CDC ;)
