If Boeser had any illusions of hockey immortality I suspect he was cured this season. 2 injuries = reality check. He will go pro by fall.

If he turns pro this spring, he can burn a full year off his ELC.

markstrom has not proven he is a starter

....because he hasn't been given a starter's workload. How else does a goalie prove it?

he is overpaid as a back up

Not really.

there is no doubt miller is a starter and a better goalie

Miller is a great goalie. There is no doubting that fact. Once again, the goalie who gets the starter's workload usually plays better because they have had the chance to play and develop consistency.

markstrom is not a long term solution for this team

Based on what?

I have personally heard Boesers coach say they are fully expecting him to make the jump to pros this summer in a interview. Benning has been quoted saying he's going to get him signed This off-season. Craig Button has said he's NHL ready and will make the jump.  This whole FA walking thing is much less common then the player signing with his drafting team. Quit making mountains out of molehill.

OK thank you!! That's all I need man... some level of comfort so I can start a Boeser fan club!

Benning will and give him starter money and the coach will give him the lions share of the starts.

They need to know what they have in Markstrom. It's time to move on from old vets, no matter how talented.

If Miller is signed to anything more than $4M, and Willie is still the coach, Markstrom is as good as traded.

I agree with you but Benning is fairly simple to predict and if Willie is around then you know who is starting.

PB..simultaneously was guessing/posting a similar amount. Wonder if that's how they(mgt) feel?

well let's just look at some recent goalie history on this team then

schneids clearly demonstrated he was an upcoming #1 starting goalie when luongo was on the team

he forced his way into the line up, he was not given games to show he was a #1, he made it obvious

markstrom simply has not been able to do that

he has too many poor starts

you do not give a goalie games to prove he is a #1.. he uses the game starts he is given to show you

if he cannot do that then he is showing you he is not capable

People predicted that Benning was going to have another dud of a deadline. Maybe we're in for a treat.

I think...hope so. If the youth movement is underway for the forwards and defense, it should then happen for the goaltending in kind.

Good thing you're not a coach.

Schneider had the opportunity because the starter Luongo faltered. He didn't force his way. The coach (AV) chose to go with him because of Luongo's flaky play.

And Schneider, while a really good goaltender has had some horrible games this season, so by your rationale, is he still a starter?

Markstrom has had some poor games, but has also had some stellar games as well, and if you look at the defense in front of both during their wins/losses, this is also telling.
