Yes, I am familiar with Tycrop.

They are hiring welders now big time. I think their  oil patch division is called Propel.......

You are totally correct in that Oil patch production cut backs will affect many smaller BC communities such as Chilliwack  / Rosedale.

Sad to see BC having so few industries that pay workers quality wages and benefits.....

Oh i hear you. Many lower mainland welding  / fabrication shops do huge dollars on Alberta tar sands equipment.

I have visited many of them through my work.  Tycrop  out in Chilliwack does some amazing work on oil sands equip.

A slow down in crude production will hurt all provinces, no doubt.

I worked for propel for a month they got tons of work for fracking equiment including sanjel change over

Is ti REALLY dead though?

Golden boy just announced unequivocally that the pipeline WILL be built

https://globalnews.ca/news/4000183/that-pipeline-is-going-to-get-built-says-trudeau/?utm_source=GlobalBC&utm_medium=Facebook

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is promising a pipeline will be built.

His comments were made in an interview with 630 CHED’s Kelsey Campbell on the Ryan Jespersen Show in Edmonton Thursday morning, and come after a war of words between B.C. and Alberta over the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

“We were assured, and we did the science and we did the research, the Kinder Morgan pipeline is not a danger to the B.C. coast. Particularly not, given the billions of dollars that we’ve invested in the Oceans Protection Plan,” said Trudeau.“And that pipeline is going to get built. We will stand by our decision, we will ensure that the Kinder Morgan pipeline gets built.”

“We can’t be simply trapped in the American market and that’s why getting this pipeline built, which has been waited for a long time, is something that this government is serious about,” He said.

“The recovery in the Alberta economy is coming slowly, but if we want to keep it and if we want to make sure that it does impact positively on families and workers across the province, we’ve gotta keep moving forward on responsible projects like the Trans Mountain.”

Alberta Premier Rachel Notley is threatening legal action against B.C. as Premier John Horgan’s government is looking at banning increases on shipments of diluted bitumen off the coast until it can determine shippers are prepared, and can properly clean up a spill.

For its part, B.C. says the ban is not a stalling tactic, but a responsibility.

Prime Minister Trudeau will be speaking at a town hall meeting in Nanaimo Friday morning.

Love BC

So PROUD of my province...

The B.C. government claims it has the legal authority to restrict the bitumen travelling through the province via pipeline.

The province’s Environmental Management Act gives it the right to take action that would protect B.C.’s coastline and environment, said Environment Minister George Heyman.

They can claim they have the legal authority, but they are wrong.

The feds have a LOT more power than you think. They just don't usually use it. That is until they do.

Quelle surprise!

Just look at how much money in royalties the feds take in the from the oil industry each year and you can figure out why.

Heck, someone should tell Weaver how much money BC takes in each year in oil and gas royalties. Hint: It's in the more than the ICBC dumpster fire.....

Vancouver and all of BC  is ready for the challenge.

Is JT up to arresting thousands of middle class educated BC citizens and retired citizens.....

Meh, just withhold the federal transfer payments until they start adhering to law. No need for arrests.

Remember, ol' JT has daddy to live up to. Remember your history, questions about the army, and the famous quote......

Meh, just withhold fed income tax payments  until they start sending federal transfer payments......

Double whammy for those in the patch today...

As Suncor Energy prepares to shed 400 jobs to prepare for the implementation of driverless ore-hauling trucks, the union representing workers at the company is publicly condemning the decision

Tax evasion is illegal. Your treading down the path to independence. Don't count on the feds letting us, or the US supporting us for that matter.

As daddy said, if you don't think he will call in the army, well, just watch him.

Expanding a bitumen pipeline through residential properties.......  potentially destroying Vancouver Harbour........  encouraging / increasing  Global Warming   all should be illegal  as well.

We will see how Justin feels about arresting hundreds  ( thoussands ) of  senior citizens.

I don't see Justin having the stomach for it.   100 % sure he will back down .

Now it all starts

FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — A restaurant in Alberta’s oilsands hub is taking its own stand against the B.C. government’s plan to obstruct an expansion of the Kinder Morgan pipeline. Boycotting all BC wine in the restaurant.

Great - my neighbour tells me now his restaurant will no longer purchase any beef from Alberta.....  in retaliation for Alberta boycotting BC wines....

Really Alberta  - time for you to realize you don't get to poison BC with your tar sludge......

without natural resources - mining, energy, forestry(pulp and paper) western canada really has nothing. i suppose we could survive for a bit with the tear down and rebuild of houses in the vancouver area - along with the influx of foreign money. doesnt really seem like a sound strategy

The Alberta oil industry is the safest on earth. I don't get you, you want to kill jobs in Canada and cut revenue to this Country only to prop up and support nations like Arabia, Venezuela, Russian, U.S, etc.
