This trade gives Columbus some valuable cap and roster space to upgrade their team and provides our young Ottawa club with another pair of veteran contributors who can provide steady mentorship and create competition for jobs in training camp. Vlad and Greg are quality players who we feel could provide even more to our team than they did last season. Adding another high pick to continue building our core was a key element to this deal. Ottawa is not done yet though. With the addition of key free agent signings Donskoi, Stralman, and Gunnarsson along with the crop of young players knocking on the NHL door, we feel we are positioning ourselves to start building a competitive squad. Generally I am the one taking in these contracts, but with the pending re-signing of Rittich, and our hands in a couple cookie jars in FA, not to mention our next star Kakko coming to the big club, we needed to shed some salary off the books and open up some spots. Also helps us to clear out some contracts! With that said Call-up: Columbus calls up Kappo Kakko to the big club

Kobayashi Maru
Bob MacKenzie is reporting that the Ducks may be engaging in deals around Josh Manson and Tyler Bozak for teams to round out their top 6 F group and top 4 D groups. Some NTC in play so teams need to determine that part first. It sounds like the ducks are looking for mid range prospects and 2/3 round picks in return. Also the post you see above will have that catchy, (more like ketchy) Banner to denote an announcement about waiver claims or clears. ; ) Edited July 8, 2019 by Primal Optimist
