Yes, that's usually where a team that rebuilding end up...near the basement. What would you like Trader Jim to do? Trade prospects or picks to get us up to 18th overall where we miss the playoffs anyways.

Problem is yes it would be nice to add scoring and upgrade the team. It won't happen overnight and the team does not have the assets to obtain such upgrades without weakening other positions and their prospect pool. 

This team does not have pieces in place to replace the declining core and if you play the " just miss the playoffs " game and get a mid range pick likely as opposed to being a bottom team for multiple seasons you won't get those top line players. It sucks but the team cannot continue to pretend they have a chance. Yes be competitive and work hard, when the youth gets better the team will.
