  1. I hope Jake gets another opportunity with an NHL team, and makes the most of it. The way he openly wept when they read the verdict makes me think he was not only relieved, but remorseful. I hope he learned his lesson.
  2. Panthers traded two guys who were a huge part of their highest scoring offense. Have to think they didn't think they'd be able to resign Huberdeau or Weegar, and that's why they valued Tkachuk with an extension.
  3. After seeing that highlight video, I think he should be on the 2nd line with Horvat. Very dangerous around and behind the net. Could give it to Horvat in his favourite spot in the slot, or score himself.
  4. Severson is better than Myers. He's younger, way better at carrying the puck, has a better shot, and the Devils had the 14th ranked PK largely because of him. Where was the Canucks' PK ranked? Oh yeah, 30th.
  5. Fabbro is also from Coquitlam, BC. He only got 24 points playing next to Josi though, albeit in just 66 games. Then again, Josi doesn't get 96 points without him... It's actually insane how many points he got last season.
  6. I was fixated on their 1st rounder, but I really like this trade. McLeod and Mikheyev on the 3rd line would be a pain to play against--speed for days. And McLeod might have untapped offensive potential. If we had a choice between Bahl and Mukhamadullin, I'd choose Mukhamadullin. But Bahl might fit our needs more. Hughes - Severson would be an amazing 1st pairing. I'd rather trade for Severson than sign Klingberg for sure.
  7. I haven't given up on Hoglander, but it's hard to see how he fits in our top 9 without someone being traded.
  8. I think if that were to happen, it would have been done at the draft. I wouldn't trade Nemec if I were them though. Luke Hughes - Nemec could be insane. Sucks for us. Quinn Hughes - Nemec could be even better.
  9. I think Myers was pretty good for us defensively last season. Definitely improved in that regard. But then again he's still prone to those headshaking gaffes. We need RHD, and I don't think trading our best RHD solves that problem. Would only trade him if we can improve on him.
  10. I'd like 2 of Podkolzin, Kuzmenko, and Mikheyev to play on the 3rd line. Only wish one of them was a center. Don't know what to do about Hoglander though. I guess we could put him on the 2nd line and bury Pearson on the 4th--or just trade Pearson. I agree about Garland, he has a very fair contract for what he brings to the table. I wouldn't be surprised if we struck a deal with the Devils with Miller going their way, and us getting Severson and a 1st. Especially if they expect Nemec to play next season.
  11. So I was looking at the 2016 NHL Draft on Wikipedia, and I can't believe this guy hasn't been an All Star. The Canadiens should just be patient and sign him as an UFA. They'd be idiots if they traded for him. I don't think it makes sense for us to get him.
  12. I disagree that Miller wouldn't bring a big return. He is good in all situations, and damn near got 100 points last season. I think it all depends on whether he'd garner the most before the season, or at the trade deadline. A cup contending team might pay up to get him on the deadline, but a retooling team like the Devils might want him before the season starts to give him time to settle in. Personally, I would prefer to do the latter in some ways, because if someone gives a 1st round pick to help them get over the hump, they might disappoint and we'd end up with a fairly high pick. At the same time, I want to see more games with Miller in our uniform. He has been a warrior for us, and I don't to give him an unceremonious departure.
  13. Klingberg has been a consistent player throughout his career, and could continue to be productive into his 30s. But, seems weird to me too. We can't get him without doing some cap dumps, and the last thing I want is to trade Miller without getting a top RHD and high pick back, because we can't resign him. What forwards could we trade as a cap dump? Cause the main guy I'm thinking of is Myers. I wouldn't like trading Garland for next to nothing, because he played well last year. With how our lines look like now, it seems like Hoglander could be buried on our 4th line. I guess we could trade Miller for a huge package of picks, and sign Klingberg, but to me that still seems like a subtraction.
  14. I think we could secure a fair extension with Severson if he were to come here. He'd like to play on the first pairing with Hughes rather than behind Dougie Hamilton. He doesn't have to be Hughes' partner 5 years from now, but he'd help Hughes develop and reach the next level. Canadian boy too, with ties to BC having played for the Kelowna Rockets.
  15. What if they offered Severson and a 1st? Severson had defensive deficiencies early in his career, but I think you're underrating him in that regard currently. He keeps getting better. There is a good chance he cracks 50 points soon, especially if he comes here.
  16. As a Devils fan, I didn't like the trade at first, cause I like Ty Smith. He had a rough season last year, but showed a lot of potential in his rookie season. Plus they gave up the pick. However, now I think something else is brewing. I doubt they would trade for Marino just to flip him, but they might trade Severson. I agree with the sentiment that since they missed out on Gaudreau, they might do something impulsive like raising their offer for a Miller trade. Severson has scored 11 goals twice, is a RHD, and is still only 27 with his prime ahead of him. I'm a Devils fan, but being a Canucks fan takes precedence.
  17. Although I'm not sure I'd give Malkin 4+ year deal, you have to think Rutherford and Allvin are interested, given their Penguins ties.
  18. Didn't even notice this thread haha. Kind of funny Lekkerimaki isn't even an option in the poll. I'm glad we got him instead of the guys with the most votes ie. Pickering, Ohgren, and Geekie. Probably would have voted for Lambert, Mintyukov, or Miroschnichenko, but I'm happy with who we got.
  19. I'm not really sure how to rate this draft, because I have two conflicting lines of thought: Wish we got more picks; but I'm glad we didn't trade down in the 1st, and got Lekkermaki. Will have to do more research on the other selections, because we didn't really draft by need, but rather what we thought was BPA. Would have liked to get a RHD, but I'm not ready to assume there was one waiting for us that we should have gotten instead.
  20. That's interesting: I for sure thought that they'd put DeBrincat with Tkachuk, but you're right that they might put him with Stutzle. Regardless, it definitely balances the lines out, and makes for a much more dangerous top 6. I can't believe Chicago didn't get a roster player back. 7th overall is valuable, but they'd be lucky to have it come out as good as DeBrincat, a two time 40 goal scorer. I've never been a big fan of the Senators, but I am starting to become excited about what they are building.
  21. He might not have Kane passing to him, but I think DeBrincat would do very well with Tkachuk across from him. The Blackhawks are really hoping Korchinski is the second coming of Makar... I'm skeptical on that front. They are doing a scorched earth rebuild. I'd take Seth Jones with salary retained. He started slow, but really came on after the 1st month of the season. Had the 3rd most points on the team--51 points on the 29th ranked offense is nothing to scoff at. Still only 27, and a RHD. I think he'd return to 12+ goals with Hughes passing to him.
  22. I thought drafting Slafkovsky over Wright was questionable from a Canadiens perspective (although I secretly wanted Slaf to go to the Devils), but when they pulled off this trade I was blown away. Got the most intriguing winger in the draft, and a center who still has a lot of potential. It was an unreal moment cause it happened during the Kraken's pick, so Canadiens fans clearly thought they pulled off a trade for 4th overall to get Wright.
  23. I'm happy we got Lekkermaki; and happy for him. He looked so emotional walking to the stage. What a moment.
