    I think we're "pulling a Buffalo", go on a 20 game losing streak, secure a top pick, and then improve rapidly for the rest of the year.

      Yes! BUF had some nice pieces last year, but the team has changed after getting the #1 and trading for Skinner. Mittelstadt is also turning into a really good player. They also have good goaltending in Hutton. Good goaltending makes a world of difference. Unless Demko comes in next year and kicks down the door, or they trade for a true NHL starter, it might be a while before the Canucks are close to being a playoff team. Getting the #1 would sure help though.
