Solidarity is important on an international level, but it's also important to be wary of appropriating issues that aren't ours. Canada has it's own racial issues, we've got a very racist history and our hands are still dirty today. 

Chinese head tax, Komagata Maru, Residential schools, the restriction of black immigration, starlight tours, Africville, the highway of tears, Canada's murdered and missing indigenous women. The ongoing mistreatment of Canada's indigenous people's, the backlash to taking in Syrian refugees. 

Canada's hands ain't clean, we have a lot of work to do.
