  1. Definitely like the idea of Newhook and gives us a ton of flexibility on C/W. I can almost guarantee that Gaudette stays C over Madden but either way that is a nice grouping of forwards.
  2. Krebs has the intangibles we are looking for but I can’t get over the 19 goals. He is a guaranteed NHL player but concerned his ceiling is not at the level of Zegras or Newhook. Regardless we will get a good player and all three are good players.
  3. I’m leaning Zegras with Newhook a very close second. Either way I could see this in a couple years for a second line: Zegras Horvat Madden Newhook Horvat Madden
  4. This is why you sign him if he wants to come to Vancouver. Top player in the league and plays a playoff style of hockey. Still relatively young and would instantly be arguably our best player with Petey and Brock. I think the chances are low that he comes here but if he wants to you go for it. Trade Sutter and Eriksson and you instantly have the net equal cap. Top six looks pretty dynamic: Panarin Petterson Pearson (Boldy/Zegras/Newhook waiting in the wings) Baertschi Horvat Boeser
  5. Was there a report talking about his skating improving. To be that will be his limiting factor, but if he can get that going he has the potential for a bottom 6 role. Has the grit and character, but needs to be able to catch them to battle. He was one of my favorite picks, but I just want to see him boost that element to succeed.
  6. Definitely interested in buying low on Puljujarvi but not at the expense of Lucic's contract. I truly feel there is a fit for both teams on a salary retained Sutter (Truly what they need) + mid pick (4th?) for Puljujarvi. If we did that we essentially get a high pick winger nearly ready to contribute and could then draft a D like Broberg.
  7. I’d be pretty happy if Turcotte, Cozens or Zegras drop to us. Will certainly be interesting this year.
  8. Just for curiousity, would anybody trade the tenth pick this year for Noah Dobson? Don’t see why the islanders would but it would certainly meet a need.
  9. Hughes Kakko Byram Cozens Dach Turcotte Podkolzin Caufield Zegras Boldy That’s my top 10 as of this point.
  10. Agreed that is a bit optimistic. I think he’ll thrive in the right environment.
  11. Definitely nice value at the deadline for those guys. If we can carry the cap that works but may need to move them at the draft at 75% value. with Risto/Puljujarvi I just feel we need a couple lotto tickets of buy low and they are my top candidates. If that lineup is possible it just feels like it could compete next year past the first round of the playoffs and has longevity as they are all very to fairly young.
  12. Both plus the draft. Collect all the assets, haha. My offseason would be: sign Panarin sign Schenn trade for Ristolainen (even including higher pick next year if needed) trade for Puljujarvi if price is low buyout/sign Tryamkin draft Boldy/Zegras/Caufield/Turcotte trade away Sutter, Tanev, Granlund, Pouliot Panarin Pettersson Puljujarvi Pearson Horvat Boeser Baertchi Gaudette Leivo Roussel Beagle Virtanen Eriksson/Motte Edler Ristolainen Hughes Tryamkin Joulevi Stecher Hutton Schenn
  13. Been pretty impressed with Braden Schneider. Draft year is next year though. Smooth skating RHD with offensive skills and size. Looking like a high pick for next year and a nice fit for the Canucks.
  14. Ageeed. If he is at 10 you take him and run. I suspect he’ll go 4, right after Byram.
  15. Is he one of those thousands of lawyers from diamond and diamond lawyers? Nothing tougher...
  16. Definitely good to hear. He seemed to put in additional effort this year. Still see the potential in him. Wonder if a Panarin signing would increase Goldys output too. Panarin's play is exactly what we want to see out of Goldy. Mentorship opportunity?
  17. Good list. I think I swap Seider and Harley and Heinola and Robertson, but I think it's close. There is something I really like about Broberg but I think he's ranked correctly.
  18. I get where you are coming from but we can’t compare just on size. My understanding is that Caufield is a dig in the corners type of guy and a scorer. Similar in size to Gaudreau but a different player altogether. Looking at the top scorers in the playoffs you see players of all sizes.
  19. That would be the most exciting part of the offseason. Getting the big Tree back this year would be such great news.
  20. That is actually quite possible and makes we want to trade for 11,12 to go with 13. If that is what is remaining I think you go with Podkolzin with Cozens/Zegras a close second/third. Doesn’t it feel like the best player in this draft could be anywhere from 1-12?
  21. Do you think a team near the mid-lower part of the 1st would trade them to us for 2nd and 3rd? Grab someone like York/Seider/Kaliyev instead of drafting a second and third?
  22. That sure would be nice. If Tryamkin can play RD then we are set.
  23. RD vs LD is part of it but it’s also size, edge, age, and cap hit. There is an element of D to refine still but we need to have a d balance. Can’t have all Tanevs. To your point earlier if the ask is Boeser, then it’s a no. Only in a buy low-ish scenario.
  24. It will work. He was a unique talent when here and likely only improved and knows where he fits more. Him coming back will be one of the turning points for us. Just hope it’s this year and not next.
