2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
Kobayashi Maru replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Thinking these should be our targets. I would have Turcotte, Boldy, Caufield. Either way we will get a good player. -
Personally I would want to try for both and move Tanev out. I don’t think Virtanen has the value to get Risto and I think we want to keep him. There is some combo that works to make it happen. Risto, Myers, Edler, Hughes in the top 4 is a nice retool of the D. Plus Tryamkin and Joulevi coming on lower cap hits and it will all fit nicely.

[Rumor] Panarin Interested in Vancouver

To me that is the dream. Sign Panarin, get Tryamkin back and trade for Risto: Panarin Petterson Boeser Tryamkin Ristolainen Hughes Tanev/Myers Edler Stetcher Joulevi Schenn -

Wonder if Benning has anything to do with this to ensure he stays healthy for any minimal trade value he may have. Granlund can still be an effective bottow six player, but feel that it may be timing to move on. -
This exactly. We need Tryamkin back and MacEwen on our fourth line. Bottom six consisting of the following works for me: Roussel Gaudette Virtanen MacEwen Beagle Motte

They’ll look like those goats that randomly fall down from shock, haha. -

I think you’re right. Signing Panarin still allows for the rest of the core to be signed. Having that skill injected along with a new pick and we’re in great shape. -

That has a nice look to it. Then attack them with: Pearson Horvat Ferland makes a nice combo once Newhook is ready. -
[Proposal] Virtanen for Toffoli
Kobayashi Maru replied to Pete M's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Toffoli would be a good add but Jake is progressing so I don’t make that trade. Size, speed and shot + little trade value due to not putting it fully together yet = us keeping him. -

I guess no D or G from Canada this year. Steer clear, haha. -

Unless I don’t recall correctly(entirely possible) he was in he top 3-5 of mock drafts before the season started. Just the question of his skill against top competition. We could see him vault up the standings. -
Definitely some risk with Myers for those remaining years unless he is fine with 4. Not that I would ever pair them together regularly just think of Tryamkin Myers ourt in the last minute of the game or in vital situations. Lockdown mode.
-
I think he’s our playoff answer to Tkachuk along with Virtanen. Obviously not at the same level skill wise but with their speed and size on lines 3 and 4 they can keep his focus and get him off his game. That will all be important soon.

That has been my hope too as he seems like a new Edler but a bit faster. Only downside is he is another LHD. Seems like another 12-15 year top 4 fixture. -
I think we keep Gaudette and Madden as they fit our needs at C with options at W going forward. Most likely if we just want a young top pairing/top 4 type d, we move our 1st pick this year. 1st for Risto/Dumba/Trouba type gets what we need. We need that more than Krebs/Boldy. We can more easily get that W in free agency.
-
In summary, he needs to come back on a one year deal. Hope he is looking for that and not converting this effort into a longer deal. That would end up being a fantastic situation for the Canucks. I think you have your Hughes pairing until he moves up the D pairing lines which may actually happen faster. I think Schenn makes Tanev redundant if we can get a top pairing RHD. Still have this feeling that Ristolainen fits that bill if we can send some decent assets (Some combo of Hutton, Lind, DiPietro, 2nds etc. Just to confirm not all of this just a couple elements) their way: Edler Ristolainen Tryamkin (Find a way) Stecher Hughes Schenn Joulevi Biega/Someone/Anyone Also gives you three legit LHD that could potentially move Edler down the lineup.
-
Or maybe the Fiero with the Lambo body kit. Either way I’m excited to see Hughes tonight. Hopefully starts to change the dynamic of the D moving the puck.
-
As long as he’s not a Dodge Stratus...
-
Definitely fun to drive but there is likely some Tanev reference there for reliability. Hoping for Hughes to have the Mazda reliability
-
Demko will be fine as he adjusts to the NHL game. Takes a bit of time but all of the elements are there. It may seem minor but I notice when he handles the puck (good puck handler in my mind) he places the puck precisely a few inches from the lower rear post (whatever that part is called) when placing it behind the net. Seems to allow the D to get the puck quicker on the rush. The fact that he pays attention to details at that level bodes well for him to focus on specifics of his game. The kid will be alright!

This is pretty much how I see it too. At least 1-6 as Boldy, Zegras, Dach are all close after that -

If we drop I think we will still find a quality player. May force us into a Newhook, Broberg or Caufield type player which honestly could all be in contention for best player past Hughes, Kakko and Byram. Either way I think we will still find a useful piece for our future. -

I hope we're all seeing the same thing that the line would be called "Petey Pan"? Regardless of that it would be an awesome line. -

I think he should be our primary target via trade. PP point getter with size and some edge. Pair him with Edler and eventually Juolevi and you have something. Not sure I buy into the +/- as he has been in Buffalo and they have underperformed overall.
