  1. Horvat for me is close to untouchable but everybody has a price. This likely works out better in the end for us but I still can’t do it.
  2. I think we are at the stage where we can move any pick outside of this years first and that includes all picks from next year as well. Only for core augmentation and not rentals though. It will complete our depth concerns because we acquire known quantities.
  3. I think Woo and Rathbone are knocking on the door as early as this training camp. As they earn it, they find their way in. That situation will maintain our D once we have the core. Likely some D emerge from our next could drafts as well.
  4. Yeah it might then we could run with Demko and experienced backup. I would be winning to overpay for Ristolainen. Him and Joulevi on paper are a perfect complimentary duo.
  5. He could be part of it too. My point was mainly around the top 4, and the bottom 2 are flexible and may even be needed for acquision. If players are better than the ones shown you continue to promote and replace.
  6. 2020 1st, 2019 3rd, Madden, Tanev or hopefully less. Maybe need to put in Hutton. Whatever it takes without taking out the core.
  7. Joulevi Ristolainen Hughes Tryamkin Hutton Stecher is the perfect balance of size and offense. Few things need to align for it but it would work for ten years.
  8. Probably true, good point. If he had another 65 he would be off the charts but maybe it’s slightly lower. Can only hope.
  9. All I hope is that we don’t hear we reached out to a lot of teams and there just wasn’t a deal to be had. He needs to make something happen that works in our favour. Come on JB! I still believe.
  10. Ghost would be a nice addition if there aren’t any bigger options brewing. Seems like a buy low candidate.
  11. I want JB to get somebody core. I know it will cost more but then it’s someone we can build around. I will still be holding out for a Joulevi Ristolainen pairing until it won’t actually happen. We need to add a sub 25 cost controlled core D men at the expense of higher picks and prospects.
  12. I like these all. Removal of Vancouver is a win, retro C is better and clearer and nice to have the plate of spagetti still a retro option. Only think that could be better would be the two bottom green stripes on the retro C but otherwise I think this is good.
  13. 9 points in 8 playoff games. That's what he's done for them lately. He had 59 points last year as well. No way he is in full decline. I think this is a fair deal for the Islanders. Obviously it may not work out in the last 1-2 years, but what contract is not structured that way.
  14. He played for Lev Praha (KHL) in Prague during the lockout. I actually watched a game live when he played there. You are highlighting my point. I don’t know of a player that was good in the NHL, left for the KHL (Not including players that are 35 plus who are naturally declining) then came back to the NHL in their prime still and stunk because the KHL ruined their game. I think Tryamkin would have continued to learn and improve while there. Obviously he would have learned more in the NHL but people are claiming he would regress because of this.
  15. I would give them Sutter and this years 2nd for the 16th overall. Not even sure they would go for that to be honest. If they did we’d have more cap room and one of the second tier d men like Seider/York/Harley.
  16. I think you only make these core changes if your core don’t look like they will work out. I think our core is solid and needs to be augmented with UFAs, draft picks and some buy low trade options like Puljujarvi
  17. Agreed on Chicago potentially going Turcotte. In a few years I could see: Turcotte Strome Toews That is strong center depth especially if they keep Toews long term
  18. Oh I like the sounds of all that. Sounds a lot like what 2019/2020 could look like.
  19. This will certainly be tougher based on our phase of rebuild. We have many players that are just sub-core that may need to be exposed. Luckily they will only take 1 but it will still hurt.
  20. I like Stecher too and he will be a good player for us but if it comes down to Tryamkin or Stecher who do you protect? Let’s assume they both have 3x3 contracts. I bet this is a rough split but I could be wrong.
  21. Just looking for examples. Don’t doubt it’s possible but I can’t think of a good NHL D man that went to the KHL and got worse. Only Chara comes to mind and he got better. Partially kidding on that one but can’t think of another example.
  22. Chara? i think that the point is that good D men don’t go to the KHL and get worse. I can’t think of any examples? Larsson is an example of a d man that wasn’t good in the NHL became a KHL all star and then sucked at the NHL level again. What examples do we have of the KHL ruining players? Tryamkin will just have naturally gotten better with maturity. He has a unique skill set and that won’t vanish in the KHL.
  23. I will assume that we may have Stecher exposed by the end of it. Joulevi UFA/Trade Tryamkin is my line if thinking unless Stecher takes a huge jump. I think there is an element of everyone feeling jaded by Tryamkin leaving but what were everybody’s thoughts before that was announced? Everyone would have said no way to allowing a team to claim him. He won’t be worse when he comes back. Likely much better.
  24. To me the only thing that will happen will be Lucic +Puljujarvi for Eriksson. Only if a clause is in place that Lucic doesn’t take up an expansion slot. with ten I am feeling stronger and stronger about Newhook being our sleeper pick. Remember way back when Newhook just considered top 3. That was about a year ago so lots has changed but I think he could be a great find at 10.
