  1. Why not just offer sheet him for 8.1 over 7 years. 1st, 2nd, 3rd as compensation. Use Tanev to get a separate second back. If he signs then you at least know he wants to be here.
  2. “It is very cold in spaaaaace!!!!!!” k, back to the topic. Not sure Zaitsev is who we want to target. We need to go bigger this year. Zaitsev is a fall back plan but that won’t work either because Toronto will want him gone at the draft. I say we move along.
  3. My focus would be Risto too because the cost would be lower and he has a better contract in place. What about: 10th + Tanev for Trouba and 2020 1st + Hutton for Ristolainen Edler Trouba Joulevi Ristolainen Hughes Tryamkin Hate giving up 1st but doing it for that? Yes please! D rebuilt for 10 years with the exception of Edler
  4. Yeah unlikely worth it due to cost. Would require waiting a year for FA.
  5. Zaitsev and Liljegren for Tanev. Toronto gets a useful player while giving flexibility and Van gets a risky youngish D with a long contract and a top prospect to offset the risk.
  6. Brayden Schenn would be a very good add to our top six if the cost is reasonable. Unfortunately he is not a UFA until next year. 1 year remaining at just over 5m.
  7. While we are dreaming why not trade 10th overall and 1st next year for Laine. Then trade some scraps for Puljujarvi and unite part of the Finnish super line. Laine Pettersson Puljujarvi Baerschi Horvat Boeser
  8. Edmonton is looking for low cost top 6 fill ins but that is a secondary need to D and G which is foundational to them.
  9. That looks like such a natural fit. Man it will be a great offseason if we land the bread man.
  10. If that was the offer I would say no. Not worth compromising our selections in two rounds for a 50th.
  11. 10th for Ekblad, Ristolainen, Trouba, Subban, Seth Jones, Theodore or the like.
  12. Just have this feeling about Broberg too. A lot to like about his game. I think you have to use every tool to improve every position. For example my approach would be: -draft Broberg (Edler replacement who can also be mentored by Edler) -trade 2020 1st + Hutton for Ristolainen (PMD RHD we’ve never had) -offer sheet or trade a second for Puljujarvi (Lotto ticket with 2nd being the risk) -sign Panarin to firm up Scoring depth. Someone like Dzingel would be the backup plan. Right age group FA. -bring Tree back as soon as possible -trade away Sutter, granlund, and Tanev to reclaim what you can If our D looks like: Edler Ristolainen Hughes Tryamkin Joulevi Stecher Broberg (Waiting in the wings) I would be very happy!
  13. No way do I give up 10 for Zucker. 2nd round pick tops. Doesn’t get it done then move on. Plenty of FA wings that can do the same. If 10 gets you Subban or Zucker then you take Subban every time.
  14. If Seider/Broberg/Soderstrom are the target then it may be worth it. Collect some early round additionals and get the targetted guy.
  15. I would love to try and pry Foote out of TB. Likely hard to do and likely not worth the ask. i think my favourite part is how JT Miller is typically a cap dump throw in and Zucker is worth our first this year in many proposals. Same age, same stats, same contract.
  16. Good idea on overall value. Helps both teams in my mind as well.
  17. For me it would be Ristolainen. Fills the top 2 need and likely a good pair for Joulevi going forward. I would hope to snag him for less (Next years 1st lottery protected or a 2nd plus), but if I compare against who we get at 10 it's pretty even. 24 year old, 45 point, RHD is a big need for us. Yes, the - is a risk, but one that is likely more team/system related.
  18. I think he was healthy and also not a freak of nature like Jagr (Similar to Ovechkin). Strain on the body may be less with the game he plays. Doubt there is even a convo there but it wouldn’t hurt to inquire. Datsyuk on Petterson’s wing for one year is not the worst idea out there.
  19. So basically this could be Byram, Newhook, Seider, Jost for Horvat? As much as I think Horvat is essentially untrade-able, that likely won't fly for Colorado. It slows down our rebuild by 2 years, but we likely come out ahead from where we would have been.
  20. Definitely. More Prime years and Tram is better at the intimidation factor. Both are decent to good puck movers. To be honest I would trade Tanev and sign Tram and Myers.
  21. I would give it to him as part of the negotiation. He is an NHL player no doubt. Top 4 no question with upside of a number two. Don’t forget that he has had a couple years to continue to develop. Yeah it’s the KHL but guaranteed he’s only improved. There is so little risk in committing some term to him in my mind. Make it happen JB.
  22. I would potentially do Lucic + Puljujarvi for Eriksson. That helps offset the extra year and the greater decline of Lucic.
  23. Future D is shaping up nicely and as early as the end of the regular season it could look like: Hughes Tryamkin Joulevi Rathbone Edler Stecher
  24. Hughes Tryamkin is just a nearly perfect pairing. If we buy out his contract for this year, what do you think he would sign for? I’m thinking a 4x4 deal fits well but it’s a hard one to judge.
  25. Just heard this today and it put me in a state of shock. Never met him and didn’t always agree with his takes but loved that he pushed the envelope. So sad to hear and especially with the family he leaves behind. He brought something special to the Canucks and it sounds like to those who knew him too. Very sad day.
