  1. Just pointing out stats isn't denigrating at all, if you think it is then that's in your head and on you. I just pointed out a glaring disparity between Quinn and the rest of the d-corps and the only difference between the d scoring the last 2 seasons and the previous 4 is him. He is "going right" not necessarily the d-corps or the team. Dmen scoring 15-16 .24 p/pg 16-17 .22 p/pg 17-18 .25 p/pg 18-19 .27 p/pg 19-20 .38 p/pg 20-21 .37 p/pg
  2. Of the 51 pts the Canucks D have scored 21 are from Hughes. That's 41%. The other 8 D they've used this year have a combined 30pts. I think some fans would have a complaint about this disparity. If Quinn has a cold streak or gets an injury then the D scoring would dry up almost instantly.
  3. Damn... Julien and Muller out in Montreal. Alex Burrows is back in the NHL!
  4. Kane, Toews and Keith only have 2yrs each left after this season and Seabrook 3. Kane is still a top producer and the Hawks have a quite a few good to great young players. Why is their window any different than the Canucks..?
  5. I just noticed that Loui played his 250th game with the Canucks recently which is 26% of his career. More than a 1/4 of his career and it feels like he's barely played here.
  6. 8 more regulation losses until the playoffs hang in the balance. (Based on the 30-21-5 minimum needed).
  7. Funny that Smith was wearing the Grant Fuhr tribute mask tonight. This was exactly what Fuhr would do in the 80's, give up a few early but would never give up that 4th or 5th goal and eventually Gretzky and crew would come back and win.
  8. Great start to his career but I'm not sure about the Calder. Lets compare his #'s to Brock, EP and Quinn the Canuck Calder winner and finalists. Brock 62gp 29g 26a 55pts EP 71gp 28g 38a 66pts Quinn 68gp 8g 45a 53pts Hogs 82gp(pace) 11g 22a 33pts Lots of great rookies this year and some are older than Hoglander so if/when he doesn't get a ton of Calder votes CDC shouldn't explode.
  9. If the Canucks claimed Schenn his first game wouldn't likely be until Mar. 13th (8 games from now) because of the 2 week quarantine he would have to do. Not ideal but worth a consideration. A couple of teams just lost dmen for the year, Buf. (McCabe) and Edm. (Koekoek) so Schenn will probably get some interest.
  10. I think it will definitely be a low total, especially trades right on TDL day. Wouldn't even be surprised if its a record low for TDL day deals.
  11. Nearly 6 years ago and this hit is what JV is most known for. Says alot about his career or lack there of so far. Technically this wasn't even an NHL game.
  12. I'd be more concerned about the $15m, 1pt in 24 games Skinner/Okposo vortex if I was a Sabres fan. I'll bet the tree-topper on Jeff Skinner's Christmas tree for the next 7 years will be an angel with Jason Botterill's face.
  13. He's been on a gradual decline for a couple of seasons. I mean he's not Erik Karlsson who has fallen off a cliff but OEL can see the edge of that cliff and signed for 6 more years at $8.25m will become a nightmare in 3-4 years. Just about the time most expect the Canucks to start making the playoffs consistently and contending for a Cup.
  14. Fair enough. However inherent bias and it nullifying someone's belief or acceptance of your opinion is not confined to politics. By your logic, as a Canucks fan your opinion can be "Elias Petterson is the best player by far in the NHL, better than McDavid, Matthews etc", it clearly shows your bias and nobody would take you seriously but you're free to express that opinion and I don't think "liberal CDC" (i actually snort-laughed at that line) will have any issue other than to call your opinion ludicrous.
  15. Yes you're allowed to be bias but then your opinions don't really hold any water because you've already made up your mind about something by having an inherent bias. Why would anyone listen to your opinion if they know you have a bias against something already?
  16. But players going from Canada to the US don't have to quarantine for as long. Laine was playing just over a week after the trade and the only reason he missed a few extra days was because he was injured.
  17. You just described the "main missing piece" of about 14-15 teams in the NHL right now.
  18. Both teams started 1-3 with the win coming against each other. Since then the Oilers are 11-5, 10 wins in regulation. In the 5 losses they have been leading or tied in the 3rd period, so they have been in a position to win their last 16 games. A couple of regulation wins and they would be 10pts up on the Canucks with 2 games in hand. Needless to say these are pretty much must wins for the Canucks.
  19. That's what I keep saying in my head when people say..."we're going to have $XXm in cap space in the next 2 years"...that "cap space" is about 4000 games of NHL experience if you include Beagle, Sutter, Roussell, Edler, Benn, Pearson. And by the sounds of it most people want their $$ to go to current RFA's, a couple of UFA's and the rest are on ELC's or rookies from the farm. I'm not sure that's a recipe for success.
  20. So from hope of the team taking the next step and challenging for the playoffs to the acceptance that only a miracle can save the season in 5 1/2 weeks? Damn I guess 14 losses in 22 games does that to you. Well, like you said, at least you don't have to worry about wins or losses anymore on a given night. Just 7 months until training camp opens.
