  1. Gotta admit I do like Totems as the team name. Its a blast from the past and an opportunity to include the local indigenous community as part of the "festivities".
  2. I would imagine Lucic will have been bought-out by then. I'd be more concerned if I was Chicago, they are definitely going to lose a good young player unless they start trading/buying-out some of the "Big 4".
  3. Yeah just got the details and apparently they are using the same rules as Vegas. 1st and 2nd year pro's and unsigned draftees are exempt. So for the Canucks if they do the 7-3-1 Bo EP Boeser Virtanen Gaudette Dahlen? Gadjovich? Lind? Palmu? Jasek? Gudbranson Juolevi Hughes (if he comes up at the end of this season and burns a year of his ELC) Hutton? Stecher? Tanev? Edler? Demko
  4. Sorry dude, but when I see a completely idiotic post like that I just have to call it out.
  5. Alright you expansion draft wizards...if the rules stay the same as when Vegas had their draft does them starting in 2021 as opposed to 2020 mean the Canucks are going to have to protect some young players they might not have had to if they started in 2020..?
  6. Yeah you're right...those 18 games in Utica over nearly 2 months probably wore out the 20 year old.
  7. I dunno why I got a laugh out of this but the goalie situation has been so depleted in Utica that the empty net is a qualified AHL goalie for the Comets this season because they have pulled the goalie in 10 games which is the threshold to have goalie stats count.
  8. Would likely be the smallest, softest top 9 in the league and CDC would be bemoaning the "injury bug" by early December yet again as another season is off the rails before Christmas. JB needs to bring in a couple of gritty vets as UFA's or its going to be another long season for Canuck fans in 18-19.
  9. What year do you think this is? The Canucks have a soclal media person or people that handle their Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. This forum is social media, how hard do you think it would be for that person or people to create an account here, scan through once in a while and throw out a team positive spin post or reply every now and then? Literally 20-30 mins a week at most. You do know that most companies have social media "professionals" don't you?
  10. Either you and I have a very different definition of "doing better" or you're not strong at math and don't know what half means. I count 9 players that some might say are doing "worse" than JV but 5 of those are defencemen and take longer to develop and one of the 9 is Goldobin. Not to mention other players taken in later rounds like Barbashev, Montour, Dvorak, Point, Arvidsson, Heinen, Labanc, Kase; heck even Forsling that are outperforming JV so far.
  11. Is Bo's injury worse/different than has been revealed? Allow me to plays devil's advocate with the timeline and info we've been given. Dec. 5th Bo is injured in what looks like a harmless check on the boards and skates back to the bench. He doesn't finish the game. Dec 6th-7th. They announce that Bo has a "broken foot" and that he will be seeing a "specialist" and will be out "up to 6 weeks". Then...silence... Dec. 16th Bo is spotted in a walking boot at the Canucks Xmas party. Dec. 30th Bo is seen at practice on crutches. Jan. 3 Linden says Bo is "going for a scan" and he "hopes we get good news" and that they are "targeting" the All-Star break. Jan 30th is the first game after the break which is exactly 8 weeks from the injury date. So if a targeted Jan. 30th return is if they get "good news" from the scan then what does "bad news" mean? Doesn't a broken foot usually require an x-ray; or is an MRI more or less the same thing these days, or is there some other damage that hasn't been revealed that could require surgery (aka "bad news") which is why they are doing an MRI 5 weeks after the initial injury? Just some questions I had, probably nothing and Bo will actually be back BEFORE the break. Right? For all the NFL's faults at least they announce the injuries in detail (and yes, I know its because of betting). I mean a star goes down and you know exactly what has been injured, when the surgery is, who the doctor is, when they start rehab, a total expected timeline. Would be nice if all sports did that, from a fan's perspective.
  12. The question is...if Brock scores 40 goals and 80pts this season and puts up similar #'s to start next season how does his agent not ask for $10mil per for 7-8 years when he is eligible to sign an extension as of Jan 1st 2019? And does the idea of Brock making $4-5mil more than everyone else sit well with some other players?
  13. In a way he kind of reminds me of Yakupov, and its more than just the Russian/Sarnia aspect. Let me steal/alter a line from Bull Durham...Yak and Goldy seem to have million dollar skills but 5cent hockey IQ's. For Yakupov it was he would skate around like crazy and never seem to accomplish much and for Goldy it seems like hes never in the right position, even most of the AHL and couple on NHL goals hes scored just seem to be on an individual effort as opposed to a great team play. He's signed for one more year after this one and then will be an RFA, hopefully he doesn't get frustrated if they send him down again and decides to bolt after next season. Yak has stuck it out and Goldy has said he will as well so I guess only time will tell.
  14. I didn't mention anything about the Calder trophy "race". It seems that alot of people are just writing the Canuck season off and focusing on BB winning an individual award. I think the coaches, management and fanbase wouldn't mind if he loses the Calder but has a strong finish to the season and doesn't hit a wall.
  15. A big test for Brock will be how he plays the last half of the season. A lot of college players can hit a bit of a wall after the 40 game mark due to the short season in NCAA. Brock played 74 reg. season games at UND and another 20 or so in playoffs/tournament in 2 seasons. It's also likely he'll be the Canuck representative at the All-Star game so I'll be watching for his stamina and how he reacts to all the attention he'll likely get at the ASG when he comes back for the last 30+ games of the season.
  16. Next season will be Jake's 4th as a pro and at some point there has to be more offense from his game. I mean half his goals and points this season came in a 3 game stretch 2 months ago.
  17. Jumping the gun a bit here but if Brock does get 40goals and 70+ points this season and is having the same kind of season next year what does the next contract look like? $9-$10mil could easily be what him and his agent ask for in terms of $$ and 7-8 years for term. Management will likely try and compare his contract with Bo's but BB's agent won't be hearing any of that. Could BB get double what Bo got with the cap going up and players asking for a percentage of the cap? Could be interesting negotiations in the summer of 2019.
  18. Just noticed that JV has over 200 pages of comments more than all the other players combined. What is it that is so poloarizing or controversial about him that illicits that ridiculous discrepancy in the # of comments?
  19. Sorry, but even at $3m cap hit I think it will be hard to move 35yr old LE if he has 3 more seasons like these first 2 in Vancouver.
