  1. I think Parayko would cost us too many assets unfortunately. Guys like Dobson, Bouchard, and Boquist would be nice, but I think those teams’ asking price would be too high (and rightfully so given their respective ages and ceilings). I wonder if it would be worth it on our end to inquire about Timothy Liljegren from Toronto? Benning and Dubas have an excellent relationship, and I don’t think it would cost us an arm and a leg to get Liljegren (although in Toronto’s case, I think they need a young RHD to emerge almost as badly as we do). If we get Bode Wilde out of Long Island, we’d have two of the coolest names in the NHL. :p (Bode Wilde + Jet Woo).
  2. [proposal] Adam Gaudette and/or Tyler Madden for a young RHD Pretty self explanatory: 1) Would you do it? 2) What kind of player/prospect would Adam Gaudette fetch us? 3). What kind of player/prospect would Tyler Madden fetch us? Originally, I would have been interested in trading Gaudette for Fabbro (Dante Fabbro) but Nashville is pretty set down the middle, and I think they want to give Fabbro a legit shot. A young RHD would be nice however, and Gaudette/Madden are pretty decent bargaining chips are they not?
  3. I’m about to go into corny territory here, but here goes: 1) The draft is in Vancouver this year. 2) We have the 10th pick. 3) Pavel Bure wore number 10. 4) Why not fly Bure out to Vancouver from Russia or Florida (or wherever he is right now) to make the selection? Keep it as a surprise as well. Spoil the fans.
  4. Sounds like a good prospect but I personally wouldn’t risk taking him that high. Plenty of blue chip/safer options can be had at number 10. As someone that’s a little bit older, I’m not sure if the risk/reward factor really measures. If he’s there in the 2nd round however, then yeah......definitely make a pitch.
  5. I’m thinking Viktor Soderstrom if he’s still there. Smooth skating two way defenseman with an excellent shot and defensive ability. I’ll actually be surprised if he’s available at 10 but if he is, you go for him.
  6. They won’t be necessary if Markstrom gets extended.
  7. Even in the new NHL? Guys like Johnny Gaudreau and Yanni Gourde have blazed a new trail have they not?
  8. I reckon it would take more than that no?
  9. This is what I would strongly consider doing: 2019 opening night = forward roster completely built. Duchene-Pettersson-Boeser Pearson-Horvat-Connolly Leivo-Gaudette-Virtanen Roussel-Beagle-Eriksson Edler-Stecher Hughes-Tanev Hutton-Schenn Markstrom Demko -Baertschi either retires via LTIR, or is traded for a pick. -Sutter is moved for a pick. -Again, I would pick Duchene here due to the fact that he can play both LW and C, and will likely come much cheaper than Panarin (due to Duchene’s perceived lack of character).
  10. This post. 100% The OP’s “analysis” prior to this post was complete nonsense in my opinion, and so I won’t comment on it.
  11. I’m tempted to build an all-star team like most others have done, but I want to do something a little different. My team is based on two things: 1) Proven Chemistry 2) An actual team with 2 great proven scoring lines, 1 great two way line, and 1 shut down line. 3) Realism 4) Not having any glaring weaknesses 5) Each player being the perfect fit in said given role. Sedin-Sedin-Burrows Naslund-Morrison-Bertuzzi Gelinas-Kesler-Linden Ferland-Malhottra-Hansen Brashear Erhoff-Edler Jovanovaki-Salo Ohlund-Tanev Hamhuis Mclean Luongo Coach: Pat Quinn GM: Brian Burke
  12. If Hockeysfuture/Canucks and CanucksArmy counts, then I’d like to give them a dishonorable mention.
  13. My dislike of Brad Marchand and Kelly Sutherland is on a personal level, and goes beyond the NHL. Ditto for Albertan and Torontonian NHL hockey fans. I will leave it at that.
  14. That Johnny Canucks logo on the upper left would get my vote. That one on the upper right is a little too bland for my liking, while the gay man holding the axe on the bottom looks too Brokeback Mountainish.
  15. Quinner seems like it’s too much of a rip off of Kaner (Pat Kane). Quinnsanity gets my vote. Quinnsane also has a nice ring to it. Quinner will probably get the vote though due to its convenience.
  16. Just a thought: What if they kept the jersey format the exact same, except for the following: 1) Change the Orca to the Flying Skate. 2) Change the Colors to the same as 1994. Black and Gold / White and Gold. Everything else, keep the exact same.
  17. He’s had an excellent stretch no doubt, but honestly, I’d give him this year AND most of next year before I start to say, “ok - this dude’s for real.” Any goalie can have a hot stretch, and any goalie can have a good year. Jose Theodore says hi by the way. Markstrom has been an excellent stretch of hockey lately, but the sample size is still very small.
  18. I would argue that Torts and Keenan are and were different. Yes - both men are confrontational and have fiery tempers, but Keenan was a jerk that played cruel mind games with players. Torts has a temper, but he’s a guy that always has the players backs and will always stick up for the players (case in point - that 1st period intermission when he bolted Calgary’s locker). Torts is demanding of his players and can get angry at them, but he’s trying to show them tough love. There’s a difference between showing tough love and flat out being a mean spirited jerk.
  19. I’ve always maintained that a good and successful rebuild takes atleast 5-7 years. In my opinion, the rebuild for the Canucks unofficially started when Luongo got traded at the 2014 trade deadline. I think the Canucks are on pace to successfully finish theirrebuild within this time period.
  20. The estrogen levels at Hockeysfuture.com went through the roof when we passed on Jack Wise. Lol.
  21. I suspect that Canucks management has a “we will promote the player if he’s ready” approach, even if it means dealing with consequences later on. We’ve seen that with guys like Boeser in the past. “If he’s ready now, he deserves to be here even if it burns an extra year off his ELC.” ”If Motte is NHL calibre, we will waive Gagner and admit to our mistake.” I think it’s just management style for better or for worse (and for the record, I think this approach is for the better). As it relates to Hughes, I think management will let Quinn Hughes plays of Quinn Is ready and if Quinn wants to play for the Canucks at the end of the year if his NCAA team is eliminated. Management will then worry about who to protect at a later date. “if the young guy is ready now, then don’t delay his progress.”
  22. I’m basing this on nothing but a hunch, by does anyone else besides me feel that Dipietro will not only be our goalie of the future, but will also be a future star in this league? Im going to go out on a limb and make this prediction. Despite being undersized, Dipietro just seems so confident and dynamic back there. He also really seems like he enjoys the challenge of being the goaltender back there. The impression I get from Demko is that he’s a little stiff. I think Demko might be a decent goalie in the league one day, but I’m not seeing stardom in him. Hopefully, I’m wrong.
