  1. I think Jake doesn’t realize how powerful he is yet that’s the issue. When you can consistently level guys, you don’t need to be mean, it’s actually just becomes fun doing it. I played football and loved hitting but it wasn’t anger that made me enjoy a big hit, it was legitimately just the fun of leveling and guy and knowing he was intimidated. The idea that you have to be some mean ogre to be physical is actually false. What he’ll learn from Ferland is that hitting is “one of your tools” to help the team win and create space. Not that you have to by hyped up on AC/DC before every game and want to kill someone. The guys who want to kill people, guys with tempers are usually the dirty guys.
  2. Cleaning the toilets in the dressing room
  3. Ferland is going to create Havoc, room for Petey and Boeser imho. Just as he did for Monohan and Gaudreau in calgary. That and make sure no one even looks at Petey the wrong way going forward Ferland Petey Boeser Miller Bo Pearson Baer Sutter/Guadette JV Roussel Beagle Motte Goldobin, Leivo
  4. They won't JB was quoted as saying Ferland's acquisition should be a big help for Jake. They see him as a mentor for Jake as well
  5. I haven’t looked but who are the likely candidates (if you know off the top of your head)? quinn vs jack for sure (won’t that be fun!) kakko who else?
  6. Who is moving Schaller or Leivo for a 5th or 6th or some project you can put in the minors “Raymond Ballard and a 2nd”? You hyperbolic responses are nonsense and simply trying to put words in my mouth to support your position. seems you don’t understand how players develop. You mentioned burrows, how long did Burr take to develop into an integral piece of the Canucks? Or are you not old enough to have been around to see that? If you think players don’t learn from others (when they themselves are still young and developing as players) who’ve been in the league longer, play the same style, and been effective at it, you certainly don’t understand hockey let alone sport
  7. 1. Jake is clearly still developing. Anyone who watches hockey can see that, and he has been improving. He needs to still learn what it means to be a power forward in the NHL, how to impose his physical game on teams to change an outcome, when to do it, when to be careful, etc. Ferland is one of the best at this, if you don't think a kid like Jake can learn a great deal from him you're fooling yourself. Jake is not a finished product, so yes, a mentor he can learn from to play a very unique game is helpful 2. Who said Schaller and or Leivo as an add on? Moving them alone, and many teams would be happy to have them as cheap depth, removes any cap issues whatsoever.
  8. when we got Baer he was 21 and a former 13th overall pick and we needed at top 6 winger. he has been a valuable player to this team. I don't think it was a bad trade at all.
  9. I wouldn't shed a tear given how he's tried to end people's career's regularly - karma
  10. How is Baerschi for a 2nd a bad trade man? Other than injuries he's been producing at a top 6 level.
  11. I would disagree, the combination of speed and size is unlike anything I have seen as a fan. Sure we've had some big players, Momesso, Hunter, Antoski, Gino, etc. but Never have we had big guys who can hit and score and skate like this imho
  12. This is what I love about this signing - whole new mentality. Players like this make everyone play bigger. He’s going to bring the best out of Jake, Petey and Boeser won’t have to worry, guys will back each other up more, hell, he’s going to even show Tryamkin that playing with that edge matters. this team has the best mix of skill, speed, toughness and size I have seen in my 30 years as a Canucks fan. And seeing us bring in a guy who has the tenacity of old #12 makes me ecstatic! Those guys can change the outcome of a game through their intensity. We’ve missed that for a long time.
  13. Jake’s going no where. He now has a mentor. the Canucks have cap room. They have 5 mil + Roussel on LTIR plus 1.9 in Schaller, 1.5 in Leivo etc. They have 22 mil in space next year and 46 mil the year after. There is no cap issue that requires giving up young potential to get rid of contracts. Schaller and Leivo are easily moved given their contracts at worst.
  14. So Dhaliwal DMs me after I told him he needs to use cap friendly. He goes back and forth with me and runs when I prove to him how little work he actually does. Lol!! I also explained to him that Roussel would be on LTIR to which he came back with it’s about term. I said well the Canucks have 22 mil in cap space next year and 46 the following so why is term an issue? Then he said bye lol
  15. They don’t need to move Erickson to begin with. They have 9 mil in cap with him. They can move Leivo for a 5th and they’re fine once Roussell is back. Erickson can still play and his salary is 3 mil. You retain 1 mil and any team who needs to take on cap would take him as he’s still effective defensively and there’s always the “you never know with chemistry” 2 mil salary and 6 mil cap hit is attractive to teams like Ottawa and anyone needing to be over the floor
  16. Dear Mr Jim Benning. Thank you for your work for the last 6 years and what you started with (nothing but old washed up players and no youth) to where we are now, for your patience, your drafting, your strength to be maligned as “stupid” or “Dim Jim” by media and fans. It wasn’t perfect, could it have been better, sure, but you rebuilt us. As a fan for 30 years, I have NEVER seen a stronger team, more promising future than we have today. Thank you sir, take a bow. I look forward to seeing you continue improving this team for years to come, and finally bringing a cup to Vancouver.
  17. Sutter and Beagle are now very important pieces to this team. We’re going to be in the post season. Those guys matter. Erickson, Goldy, Schaller, Leivo are the guys who will be moved. That creates around $10 mil in cap on top of our $6 mil. Gaudette called up for injuries and if he’s showing he can supplant Sutter, Sutter is moved at the deadline. I don’t want to be overly optimistic as a lot of things would have to go right (few injuries, chemistry, great goaltending, young guys take big steps - QH, JV, EP, OJ) but if so the way this team is constructed they can literally push for a cup next year folks. Now it’s up to green to get the most out of these guys. If so, Sutter may remain. This team is built to go deep. It’s got every single piece, only lacking experience for our elite talent.
  18. No chance. Ferland is now a tutor for Jake, much as people wanted Lucic to be. Goldy is the sweetener. And in all reality, Erickson for 3 mil cash isn’t bad, retain a little and it’s a good deal for any team needing cap like Ottawa
  19. Erickson and Schaller out, maybe Goldy. They keep Sutter, Jake is going nowhere with a mentor like Ferland to teach him how to be a power forward. I think a lot of people are missing how important Ferland will be to Jake’s development.
  20. This is good news and no big deal. They can trade leivo and carry all the dead weight. Not that they will but why it’s important is other than trying to move Erickson, other GMs won’t have leverage on us to sweeten deals if we want to move Sutter or Tanev. Meaning, we can get real value (whatever that may be)
