At least you survived the Greyhound trip with your head.

^ That was a disturbing story, I remember hearing that and wondering how that happened and nobody did anything about it?  

Was down & out in '93(When Habs won Cup) in New Brunswick(worked at a CP Hotel there for a summer). Had broken up that spring with my ex in Alberta( a kid involved & all..), & was miserable & broke.

So I sat on a F***in bus for 3 or 4 days to think about things. I must've resembled a statue. Tried to budget my dwindling resources to have a cuppa' Joe in every small town across the nation.

When I finally got to Calgary, I stayed a day. Only to find my bank acct had been cleaned out! Won't name names :^) Perhaps had enough for a coupla' more coffees thru the Rockies :^(

One of the last stops(Kamloops?..forget) was in the dead of night. having a last cup of beans, in walks an old flame from Cowtown, 4 or 5 yrs prior. She was a Greek lass who cut hair near the army base - charming girl w/ great sense of humour. We were both tired/jaded, but surprised to see & hugged. Told her I was headin' west..she said her bus went East(a last hearty laugh). Was something wonderfully ironic about this bleary-eyed encounter.

If that was rock bottom, luck perhaps changed from that moment. 15 mos later, had saved up $10,000 & was headed to Asia...
