  1. Yup, can't wait for management to sign a 6 to 7 year deal and bring us another anchor contract to replace OEL's. Can't wait!! Exciting!!
  2. Have any Cup winning teams carried dead cap on their roster? LTIR - yes, but true dead cap from a buyout? I haven't looked into it, but I'm guessing no.
  3. What the hell??? This is a really short sighted move. Feels about the same as when Benning traded for OEL/Garland in the first place. Really about ready to just give up watching this team and this sport. First the expansion VGK cup win, and now this...
  4. OEL playing 15 to 17min a night will likely mean a much more effective OEL. I think he's just not able to play the big minutes anymore. We need to find a big defensive LHD that can play big minutes next to Hronek. Then have Hughes take all the offensive responsibilities, and OEL anchor the 3rd pair.
  5. Not sure why we're still talking about Tryamkin. He's not even Canucks property anymore. If he were to want to come back to the NHL, I doubt Vancouver would be tops on his list lol
  6. Back to CLB for PLD... back to WPG for Roslovic lol To WPG Roslovic Peeke To CLB PLD
  7. I feel bad for Bedard... nobody is gonna be taking him out for dinner except for CHI
  8. The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Oskar Pettersson to a three-year contract, the club announced Thursday. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/ottawa-senators-sign-draft-pick-oskar-pettersson-to-three-year-entry-level-contract-1.1973661
  9. Scratch him off the list. Time for our young guys to get a chance -- Woo, Johansson, Juulsen, Burroughs, etc
  10. No surprise. This is probably the first time in decades that I didn't even watch 1 full game of the finals. Definitely 1st time since I became a hockey fan that I didn't watch the Cup being awarded. https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/columbus-blue-jackets/news/nhl-witnessing-a-decline-in-stanley-cup-final-viewership
  11. Can't a team win with a cap that actually matches what the upper limit is?? Such a mickey mouse league.
  12. I'd be curious what the viewership has been like for this final vs others. Personally I've watched about 1 period of this entire series cuz I just can't accept that a 6 year old franchise is winning a Cup before the Canucks that have been suffering for half a century without either a cup or a 1st overall pick.
  13. IF he develops to that level. Same could be said of Podkolzin, but with Podz, if he doesn't develop to that level, he's still a valuable bottom 6 forward. Benson would be useless if he doesn't produce.
  14. Ummm... Benson, Hoglander, Garland, Kuzmenko, Beauvillier, Lekkerimaki ... are we trying to build a sub 6'0" forward group or something??
  15. The key here is they are trying to clear cap. Boeser/Garland/Beauvillier/Myers/etc are not what they want. So unless we're willing to take on either Mantha or Kuznetsov for picks and prospects, there's nothing to see here.
  16. I'd be happy with that. Just wouldn't think PIT would wanna take on Boeser's cap hit.
  17. Both great reasons why the Canucks will likely never win a Cup.
  18. I'd be thrilled with a RHD out of this 1st round: The hype was all around Reinbacher, but then ASP made his case as well. Now sounds like Willander is making waves too. I don't think we can go wrong with any of these 3. The likelihood is 1 of them will be available at #11.
  19. Trade #1 To VAN: Marcus Pettersson To PIT: Conor Garland Jack Rathbone Penguins have POJ and Dumoulin ready to play top 4 LHD. Their RHD is set with Letang and Petry. There was smoke around Pettersson this past season, and after missing the playoffs for the 1st time in years, the Penguins are ready to make some bigger splashes. Garland gives them a real sparkplug up front. Playing with somebody like Malkin could see Garland hitting the 50 to 60 point totals again. Rathbone gets a fresh start with a very reputable franchise. Trade #2 To VAN: Colton Sissons To NAS: Nils Hoglander 3rd Round Pick Sounds like NAS wants to re-align their talent with guys in their mid to early 20s. Sissons is 29 now and with the emergence of Glass and Novak, Sissons becomes expendable. They acquire a very good prospect in Hoglander and more draft capital. Canucks get a very good 3C locked in for a few more years at a good cap hit. Trade #3 To VAN 5th Round Pick To 3rd Party (50% retention) 3rd Round Pick To COL Tyler Myers Really? Myers to COL? Yup. Erik Johnson is done there. What the Avs need is another big, solid, veteran on the 3rd pair. Canucks pay a 3rd round pick to the 3rd party team to retain 50%, but regain a 5th round pick. Would be great to bring Schenn back, but if not, I think we need Bear back. Beauviller-Petey-Kuzmenko Mikheyev-Miller-Boeser Podkolzin-Sissons-Mcdonough? PDG-Aman-Joshua Hughes-Bear or Schenn Pettersson-Hronek OEL-Juulsen/Burroughs/Johansson If Pearson and/or Poolman should return mid-season, we would have enough cap space to bring them both back into the mix. Would be a really nice boost. I'd actually want to see them both back if it meant we could ice a roster like this: Beauviller-Petey-Kuzmenko Mikheyev-Miller-Boeser Pearson-Sissons-Podkolzin Mcdonough/PDG-Aman-Joshua Hughes-Bear/Schenn Pettersson-Hronek OEL-Poolman
