  1. Well in that case, WE'RE SCREWED!!!! SELL THE FRANCHISE!!! MOVE THE TEAM!!! In all seriousness though, I'm all for moving one of the wingers and redistributing against defence. Boeser is not going anywhere. Too much cap, and not enough production. I think we're looking at Beauvillier or Garland on the move. I also think we're better off staying away from the UFA pool unless we can acquire a 3C for cheap (ie $2M or less).
  2. Something the management team could consider is a buyout of Poolman. Buyout cost for Aquilini is $4M (this is really peanuts in the grand scheme of things). Cap Hit (Cap savings): Year 1: $500k ($2M) Year 2: $500k ($2M) Year 3: $1M (-$1M) Year 4: $1M (-$1M) So that takes Poolman out of the equation. If Pearson comes back, we bury him in the minors for the year. Cap hit becomes $2.1M for 2023/24 ($1.15M buried in the minors). So with the buyout of Poolman, even if Pearson comes back, the cap becomes a wash between the 2 of them. Just need to make sure we don't spend the cap savings on Poolman until we're certain Pearson is done for the season.
  3. So you're saying Wood will be on LTIR and then perfectly time his return game 1 round 1 of the playoffs? Nice...!
  4. Yeah I feel like they're about to break out like NJD.
  5. I could see Sillinger and Roslovic being dangled if it meant a PPG powerforward centre in his prime a la JT Miller. Roslovic is a pending UFA. Sillinger had a pretty bad sophomore year, even by sophomore slump standards. He had 3 goals and 11 points in 64 games and even spent time in the AHL. Acquiring Miller, they'd have Miller, Jenner, Johnson down the middle. And yes, they'd still have Carlsson/Fantilii inbound. Johnson could play on Miller's wing. Then they'd still have Miller, Jenner, and Carlsson down the middle.
  6. I'd do that trade 1-for-1, it'd suck to lose Garland, but if Peeke can play top 4 RHD minutes and do well, at $2.75M, it'd be very good value. We'd also save $2.2M in cap space. I could also justify keeping Myers for his last year on the 3rd pair. Hughes-Peeke OEL-Hronek ____-Myers
  7. Future extensions have no bearing on their value assessment right now. We don't know what's gonna happen 1 or 2 years down the road. What we do know is that Hronek's cap hit is $4.4M, Provorov is $4.725M. What we do know is that Hronek is a RHD, Provorov is a LHD. What we do know is that Hronek was coming off his best year. Provorov has been on a downward trend the past 3 years.
  8. Lots of hypothetical info here. About the same kind of info as we can quantify for the premium on a RHD vs LHD at a particular point in time in the NHL. Not sure what a Hronek extension has to do with a trade. Completely different event as we're only talking about trade values, but thanks for your 2 cents
  9. Provorov is not equal to Hronek. Hronek is a RHD, arguably the most difficult position to fill in the NHL. There is a premium automatically added. You make it seem as though adding an 8th year to the deal is a good thing?? I'm pretty sure CLB rather only pay him for 7 years lol.
  10. Lol no kidding... Laine is gonna love it too. Not to mention Roslovic.
  11. So they paid... A 1st and a 2nd for Provorov. A 3rd for a UFA that they could have signed for free in July. How is that so much better than a 1st and a 2nd for Hronek (who's a RHD which is much, much more valuable than a LHD)?
  12. If Jiricek is ready, then Peeke or Guddy need to go. I doubt they'd find a taker for Guddy, so Peeke is likely the one being moved out. Roslovic is a pending UFA. Sillinger took a big step backwards last year, but still lots of potential. Johnson is definitely the more promising prospect. Sillinger Roslovic Peeke for Miller PeteyD (CLB is a bit light on LHD depth)
  13. Elite high end game breaking talent down the middle: 1st line: McDavid 2nd line: MacKinnon 3rd line: Bedard (assuming he lives up to what he should be) 4th line: Crosby No country can match up down the middle like that.
  14. I've been saying it for awhile. You just need to look at which players are locked in longer term to see what a team is gonna do. Gaudreau 29yo Jenner 29yo Guddy 31yo (still dunno why they did this lol) Merzlikins 29yo (a real indicator when your #1G is signed long term at 29yo) Laine and Werenski were their younger core guys at 25yo. Now Provorov has come in at 26yo and Severson at 28yo. I could see Roslovic being dangled as he's a UFA this year, and Peeke as well to open up some room for Boqvist and/or Jiricek. They'd probably want to keep Johnson and Sillinger, but I feel like one of them will need to go if they want a real impact player in return. My proposal: Sillinger Roslovic Peeke for Miller Petey (D) -- they're a bit light on LHD
  15. I think they will be running a 1A and 1B pairings: Werenski-Peeke Provorov-Severson That's pretty darn solid. TONS of depth too. Funny thing is they actually have a lot of RHD depth, but not as much LHD. We should pry Ceulemans out of there for one of our LHD guys.
  16. Or even potentially $3M AAV with a 50% retention by a 3rd party team. Easy move IMO.
  17. You gotta wonder how overpaid Mayfield is gonna be at this point. $5.75M x 7 or something?? With the weak UFA group, it raises the value of trade targets around the league I think.
  18. I'm just gonna place my prediction as a mock draft here to come back to in a few weeks after the draft is done: 1. CHI - Bedard 2. ANA - Carlsson (yup, a surprise here as a lot of people have Fantilli going first) 3. CLB - Fantilli 4. SJS - Smith 5. MTL - Dvorsky (what?! Yup, I think they build around their Slovak pair of Dvorsky and Slafkovsky) 6. ARZ - Michkov (they can afford to wait for this guy) 7. PHI - Wood (just seems like a PHI type player) 8. WAS - Reinbacher (will pair nicely with Sandin) 9. DET - ASP (their new Hronek) 10. STL - Moore 11. VAN - Leonard
  19. Cap dumps are generally negative value. So it depends on who the cap dump is I guess?
  20. I could totally see Peeke, Marchenko, and that 34OA for Demko. Mind you the 34OA is a 2nd round pick, but I valued it as a 1st this year since it's a deep draft. Miller would be more valuable than that. So I still think we're missing a 1st round pick somewhere along with that 2nd/3rd.
  21. Maybe he's still here because coach and management sees him as a good player for us. He is definitely not negative value.
  22. Yeah, I love Hughes, but Dahlin is way more complete of a defenceman. 6'3" 202lbs, great skater, great vision, great shot, logs huge minutes, can play in all situations, definitely capable of putting up 20+ goals and 80+ points in his prime. He's a true franchise #1 defenceman, no questions asked.
  23. Wowza... $10M man. He's gonna be a norris winner though, so probably worth it.
  24. Doesn't seem like enough value for the Canucks. Realistic return values on these guys: Miller = decent to good roster player, B+ tier prospect, 1st round pick Demko = decent to good roster player, B+ tier prospect, 1st round pick Garland = 2nd round pick Roslovic = decent to good roster player Peeke = decent to good roster player 34OA = 1st round pick Johnson = A tier prospect = 2 B+ tier prospects I'd say we're missing a 1st round pick and and 2nd round pick in value. That's quite a bit.
