  1. no he's above a ppg against teams like LA St Louis Vegas Ottawa Colorado Anaheim Nashville CBJ Dallas Washington Seattle Detroit Panthers.. i mean there's some good teams there.. and teams he struggled against toronto buffalo new jersey and boston the rest he's pretty close to a ppg against them.
  2. is the norris a scoring title? there have been 3 norris winner that were the scoring leaders for defenceman that year. and none of them are recent. all the norris trophy winners of recent indeed scores a lot but i don't think you can point and say any one of them are below average defensively.. i personally think they are all above average defensively and exceptional offensively.. otherwise tyson barrie should have won in 2020-2021 when he topped defenceman scoring.. or finish top 3 top 5.. but he didnt even get 1 single vote for norris.. i think the Norris trophy evolved that it no longer goes to the exceptional big hulking defenceman with exceptional defensive ability and average goal scoring to exceptional offensive ability with above average defence. so i think it's still very important to winning a cup till that trend is broken.
  3. as good of a player as PLD is i wouldn't even consider him.. he already held his last team hostage by demanding a trade out when columbus was decent.. stated his desire wanting to play in Montreal.. good chance he'll do the 1 year qualifying offer and bolts to montreal if they are willing to offer what he wants in contract.. or signs with winnipeg for 8 years are max money he can get.. and then a year or 2 later demand a trade again and abuse his NTC.
  4. lol even if it is the secret recipe.. not everyone can do it.. how many norris defenceman are around?? like 3-4 legitimate one? in the last 14 years there have been 12 different norris trophy winner? and 10 of them played in at least 1 SCF and all but 1 of them won a cup?
  5. of coz 1 or 2 elite players doesn't equal a cup but having one or 2 is like 50% of the equation. most of those team have the 1 top pick that's a superstar forward and 1 norris caliber defenceman a lot of the other parts are interchangeable. Chicago with kane toews keith the supporting class changed throughout. pittsburgh crosby malkin letang. tampa is a different class they have way too much talents stamkos hedman kucherov point vesi etc. but all of them have in common is a top 3 talent and a norris caliber defenseman. even colorado whom are favorites if they didn't run into injury problems Mackinnon Makar. we have EP who is another level right now but we need another elite talent up front with him ideally.. and no Miller is not that guy.. if we can grab one of those C in the top 3.. that'll go a long way towards the cup.. not another 5-15 pick that prolly ends up well below EP in terms of talent.. then we'd probably be 1 norris caliber defenseman short of being a legitimate cup contending threat.. as great as Hughes is offensively and ok defensively i don't view him as a number 1 defenceman.. he's one of if not the best offensive defenceman with average or slightly below average defence mostly due to his size while his skating his great he doesn't have the top end speed of say a makar to make up for the lack of size. Edmonton and Toronto biggest problem they never have a norris caliber defenceman or a defenceman period.
  6. not even sure wtf you are on about.. sure the actual contract year is next season.. the canucks are going to wait for next seasons "contract year" before making an offer to EP? or you think they'll use what he's doing this year and last to start negotiating this summer? so you want to pick an argument over the actual "contract year" not even worth my time
  7. it's not but they'll be stupid to not get a contract done this summer and wait.. as soon as next season is over they have to qualify EP and EP can accept it right away and walk to ufa the following year losing all leverage whether in a trade or extension
  8. You are an idiot. Badmouthing? Ep piling up the points for his next contract is a bad thing? Without miller ep reached this numbers a few years ago? U mean when he’s injured? Ep is reaching next level because they found a guy that’s compatible with him ie kuzmenko. You think EP is a 100 point pace guy a few years back without miller and just playing with boeser? Gimme a break. He’s great but miller definitely helped the first couple season.
  9. I already said drafting top 3 doesn’t equal cup. But not having a top 3 pick your chances of winning 1 the odds are so low the chances of it happening is not likely. finishing low doesn’t mean you win the draft lottery but it ensures you have a better chance and not let the season go to waste. EP is great but please the best player in that draft is makar. The Norris conn smyth and Stanley cup winner. I’m sure 31 of 32 teams would agree. And heiskanen is no slouch either. In a redraft makar would go 1 heiskanen ep would go 2/3 or vice versa but prolly heiskanen since a legit 1D is a or harder to find than a 1c. Also finishing low in the standing to ensure the best possible draft picks and odds allows you to pick who you want.. not pray to god someone is an idiot and skip this guy that guy and it falls to your lap. If Detroit didn’t go brain dead and skip Hughes we prolly end up with zadina lol. In the salary cap era hardly any team won a cup without a top 3 pick that is a superstar. That’s just fact doesn’t matter how you look at it. The more you have the better ur chance of winning multiple cups. Tampa stamko hedman pittsburgh fleury Crosby malkin Chicago toews kane the only exception is Edmonton but then again there wasn’t any players in any of those draft that u can call a elite superstar.. so that’s just more the draft top end talent was weak Until a team wins a cup consistently without a top 3 pick that is an impact player trying to ensure u have the best chance of winning the lottery is the way to go. As it fast forwards a rebuild/retool and it historically gives you the best shot at a cup
  10. We pull out wins coz even when we suppose to rebuild/tank.. we still put out the best possible line.. coz we don’t really sell at the deadline other than some fringe players. we have a really really weak schedule to finish.. even if our goalies let’s in 4 per game which is almost every night.. we will still manage to score 5 against those echl teams
  11. man EP is just piling up the points now playing for his next paycheque.. for all of those that don't care about tanking and getting a top 2-3 pick by finishing worse possible and thinks we can build a winners drafting in the 5-10 slot? yes you can build a contender like carolina etc.. but your chances of building a cup winner is slim.. look at all the past stanley cup winners in the last 14 years. outside of St. louis, every single cup winner featured a own drafted top 3 overall pick on their winning roster. all of those top 3 overall picks played a significant role in winning the cup.. well maybe not boston.. they had seguin that they drafted but he wasn't big yet.. but they technically did have a super old horton that was the #3 overall pick and played a big role in winning the cup. St louis have pietrangelo who was squeezed out of the top 3.. obviously not saying drafting top 3 equal winning a cup.. but your odds of winning a cup looks a lot better and your team looking like a contender also significantly increase
  12. oh u mean the 3 game california sweep in 2015 that took us out of last place against the top 3 teams in the pacific? and as a consolation prize for screwing ourself the chance at matthews we got gem juolevi?
  13. i mean replace barzal with Horvat they'll just be back to where they were pre-trade. Horvat actually out produced barzal this season at EV. so they'll likely still be floating around the WC spot unless a team goes on a tear
  14. lol i've never seen a "rebuilding" team capped out every season and have 0 extra picks.. 4 season 28 picks total.. not a single extra pick.. we were just straight up a bad team every year hence we picked high.. we never rebuild once since our last cup run.. we didn't even trade away hamhuis and just let him walk in free agency and a bunch of others.. and we traded away like 8 picks during that time for projects and nhl ready players...
  15. if they can just stay above .500 while bazal is out they'll be fine sorokin have been a rock in goal for them this season. and they've won 2 tough games since barzal is out. while buffalo and Detroit would love to get some playoff reps in.. they'll be stupid to be paying assets to acquire players just for experience when they have no chance at winning a cup
  16. the way you guys say 13-16 pick like it's guaranteed.. right now that pick is sitting at 20th based on the actual standing and not point %.. sure teams have games in hand.. but again until they win those games it means nothing on the actual standing. pittsburgh had a bunch of games in hand on the islanders and lost back to back to the islanders literally a 8 point swing. washington have given up on this season.. so now it's really going to be pittsburgh florida islanders fighting for the last 2 spot.. detroit will fall off once they sell off larkin and buffalo maybe a wild card... if we end up with a 20th pick.. chances are it's just a luck of the draw what we pick and what we get.
  17. actually their pick is 18th right now based on actual standing and not predicted standing based on point % where teams have to actually win their games
  18. lol i dunno how you come up with that.. nyi is 5-2-2 since the horvat trade while the teams they were chasing the capital is 3-7 and the penguins are 4-5-1.. the canucks schedule is so weak to end the season.. there's a real posibility Montreal St louis all passes us in the tankathon. even ottawa.. their schedule is nasty down the stretch
  19. so who have a worse team? the Arizona or the Canucks? Both their goalie have far superior stats than any one of our goalie. so while the canucks defensive have been bad... our goalies every single one of them have been just as bad while Arizona defence is bad.. their goalies are still thriving.. so is it possible it's not just a defence issue it's also a goalie issue? did Ian clark change something with our goalies or they figured out our goalies and we did nothing to adjust?
  20. damn patty kane here is trying to drive his value thru the roof the last couple 4 games.. 7 goals 3 assist so far
