  1. he has 2 goals since the coaching change.. his goals per game is even lower since the coaching change.. so doubt that's happening
  2. pretty sure he didn't sign the contract when the canucks were a bottom feeding team.. arizona and their college arena? ya dont see it happening
  3. again i'm 100% sure myers have every single bottom feeding team on his NTC.. i'm sure it'll be easy to trade him to a team on his NTC lol. he aint going to arizona sj columbus anaheim chicago to rot.
  4. They had no rush to move hronek.. if the Canucks are all in on an injured player like that now.. they will gladly pay that after the end of this season before the draft or at the draft.. he still got a year left so there was absolutely no need for Detroit to make that trade now if they felt strongly about the player. Obviously they don’t
  5. i think Pasta's contract is going to be the floor for EP if we are serious about keeping him in Vancouver especially if this team misses the playoff again next season.. why? coz we are going to have to overpay to convince EP to stay thru a middling team with no sense of direction.. with the horvat trade we thought we were going to build for the future down the line.. then with the hronek trade nope we are going for the immediate future. EP will also be 1 year younger than Pasta at the start of the next contract so you'll probably get 1 more year of value in terms of performance out of EP assuming they play and decline at the same rate of course
  6. they wont have the cap space with only 15 players signed and 14mil ish to play with assuming muzzin is perma ltir and likely re-signs samsonov to a raise too
  7. good luck finding a basement team that's not on his 10 team no trade.. like the SJ Arizona Columbus Anaheim Chicago..
  8. lol a team that's in a playoff push gives up on the player.. that's how much the detroit red wing thinks of him.. they are probably laughing so hard that we offered a 1st and a 2nd for a player they dont think all that highly of.. look at their defence right now after they got rid of hronek.. if they can afford to trade a player like that in the middle of a playoff push?? there should be some red flags.. these are not the type of move a team makes in the middle of a playoff push and not the type of move a bottom feeder should be making at TDL..
  9. Lol hronek is a 2nd pairing at best.. that doesn’t really do anything to help the defensive side of things. Hronek Hughes pairing is a disaster waiting to happen. Once again we have no extra draft pick missing a 2nd on a team that should be selling/gaining picks lol. St. Louis Nashville Washington teams that are well ahead of us in the standing have way more picks than us
  10. i'm so so about the trade but honestly i see 0 reason to make that trade right now.. can easily make the exact same trade at the draft.. wait and see what the islander picks turns out to be before making a trade like that... everyone was gushing about how the islander pick is a 13-16 pick this year or a lottery pick next year because they are 100% sure islanders going to be a lottery team next season.. ok so if islander miss the playoff this season and end up with a top 12 pick.. and defer to next season.. and they are a lottery team.. so if we end up trading a top 5 pick for hronek that's a W?
  11. You don’t make any sense In reality the trade is just Horvat and a 2nd for hronek beau and Raty the 1st is from Horvat so we gained 1 and traded it out so net is 0
  12. Don’t recall I said move Demko at the TDL just something to explore whether it’s summer next year or whenever
  13. Nope I don’t look thru every single trade teams 24/7 on my phone like some of you. Depending on what they do with korpisalo and if they wait to see how he performs before re signing him. They might still revisit in the summer if korpisalo doesn’t get the job done
  14. So how many Tim Thomas are out there? There are far more examples of goalies starting on declines when they hit 30 than there are tim Thomas. Need no look further than markstrom. Goalies have a longer shelf life than forwards? Ya as a backup maybe lol.. look at all the goalies 30 and above this year? Maybe a couple starter kuemper and maybe markstrom bob etc.. none of them are even in the top half of the league in stats in any category. And maybe a couple of the 30+ backup are having a decent year.. it’s also fact that most goalie coming back from significant injuries don’t last long in this league. Missing almost half the season is pretty significant including his off season surgery he already had.
  15. so we should wait till demko is worth nothing more than a backup before trading him? we aint competing in the next 2-3 years.. demko contract will be over in 3.. if we can get value for him right now i'm all for moving him.. keeping demko in Vancouver doesn't help with the rebuild in the next 2-3 years.. easier to find a stop gap goalie in UFA while we continue our tank.. with demko's injury history.. he can very well be the next Cory Schneider.. couple good years left and then deteriorated fast.. we prolly aint competing till his contract is over.. and by then there's a big risk he's the next schneider.. if that's the case do both a favor give demko a chance at a contender if there's one willing ie LA while Van gains asset for 3-4 years down the road i find it hard to believe a lot of the player before they came to vancouver were all doing fine.. and then as soon as they reach vancouver.. they don't know how to play hockey anymore.. i want to believe this is just a case of miscasting players in the wrong role putting them in a spot to fail
  16. i prefer them to baby OEL and give him hughes role and see if he improves than just buy him out for the sake of buying him out.. OEL is miscast here.. he and Hughes plays the exact same role.. the offensive top pairing with a defensive baby sitter partner. you revamp the defense the next 2 years go right up against the cap again.. then what in year 3 and 4? cut a 5mil player somewhere to make up for the increase in cap penalty? when we are supposively ready to compete?? makes no sense to have a gigantic penalty right at the meat of EP's prime age 27-28.. either play him in Hughes position to see if he can bounce back and move him next season.. or see where he's willing to go and dump him with big sweeteners if we are competitive at that time.. maybe he'll have a magically LTIR retirement somewhere along the way.
  17. if schenn doesn't re-sign in the summer this would have been a disappointing trade coulda just retained some of those 3rd party trades and gotten the same thing a 3rd rounder lol
  18. buying out OEL is the dumbest thing they can do.. i rather retain 3mil to move him then have his cap on the books for 8 years with years 3 and 4 supposively their timeline for this "retool" is almost 4.8mil in cap penalty
  19. you mean every year.. this team is not good enough to be a cup contender.. not bad enough to be a lottery contender.. we end up with a middling pick every year and hope we find a gem... i think it's safe to say canucks in the last 8 years had the worse drafting position of any teams that have missed the playoff 7 times or more.
  20. lol the 2nd worse goal against team that's in the playoff is the favorite?? them and LA goals against is not even close to any other team lol.. literally the worse defensive team and goaltending duo of any possible team in the playoff. i take my bet dallas and vegas to pound them to a pulp or colorado to skate circles around their defence.. the only reason they'll even get out of the first round is the current playoff format tbh is trash.. they get to play LA in first round.. i don't like the current playoff format where it benefits teams in weak division to have a easy path to the conference final.
  21. well you have to assume anyone even wants him next year even at max retention.. right now he's barely even good enough for a bottom 2 pairing.. he doesn't bring anything offensively.. and he's a disaster defensively.. he's not really an upgrade on any contender's bottom 2 pairing the way he's played the last couple years
  22. so they are trading their captain away on an expiring contract?? ya let's trade away the captain on a contender at the deadline
  23. i agree with you on karlsson subban and burns not that great defensively but when i say recent i'm prolly referring to the last 5 years when scoring seem to have taken off with the defenceman with the likes of makar hughes fox etc. i still think you need at the very least a norris caliber defenceman one that will be in the top 4-5 voting each year at the very least to win a cup. maybe carolina will break the trend as they dont really have a norris caliber defenceman on the team.. but the favorites again most of them have that defenceman on the team whether it's vegas colorado in the west, tampa boston and rangers in the east.. only exception is carolina and i dont think jersey is a contender yet. toronto and oilers will never win a cup with their defence.. they can win a round or 2 but they'll eventually be shutdown.
