  1. Of course this is a possibility, but given the fact that the athletes were actually hugging each other BEFORE the official came over, one can infer that the Olympians actually respected each other for getting to THAT POINT. Then Barshim decided to just share the gold.
  2. Any actual thoughts on Poolman based on the descriptions I lifted from HFboards? Somehow hometown fans who watched Poolman day in and day out can be disregarded by two guys you deemed 'experts'. So what's the point in watching a team? Just read someone's opinion instead....
  3. https://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/winnipeg-jets-defense.2804328/page-5 Poolman is massively underrated. Ppl don't like him cuz he's 26 but what I see Is a guy who can move the puck and actually make a pass and 95 percent of the team can actually clear the D zone.. dude really did step up vs Calgary last play Ins and is actually a solid NHL d man. Stanley been hella sheltered. Beaulieu sucks. Poolman is great value and a solid top 3 RHD. --- I just really liked Poolmans game since his return. There doesn't seem to be any panic. I thought Stanley struggled a bit on Saturday. Poolman and Forbort are doing ok. but it's hard for me to imagine the Jets being a real contender with both of them in the top 4 To be fair Morrissey hasn't looked good with De Melo or Poolman either this year. --- In summary so far, Poolman CAN play top 4, but he's more suited for bottom pairing. Maybe he can work on his game - because players do try to get better during the offseason. In general, Winnipeg fans seem happy with him as a player and is underrated.
  4. (continued) Below are comments made by posters - not my opinions. I don't think there is any reason to draw Poolman out of the lineup, so there's a spot for one defenseman, and it's arguable whether that d-man should have an offensive or defensive impact. If we had a stronger defensive impact from Morrissey, I'd say that spot would be Heinola's for the taking, but I'd argue that Stanley's probably the best suited right now to fill that role, as he has the potential to fill both ends. Beaulieu's PKing might make him more valuable however, if you are measuring the overall impact, including special teams, that's a tough call. Samberg is the one most likely to make the jump this year, but he's had the longest layoff and as long as Forbort is playing decent hockey, I'm not sure I'd promote him over Stanley at this point. By midseason once he's gotten up to speed, I think he offers more to his game than Stanley can, because of his better mobility. Starting him on the right side maybe he could replace Poolman, but I wouldn't be racing to do so. Poolman took awhile to process the game, I'm not sure Samberg would offer better results as a raw rookie. 6/7 kind of guy like Beaulieu. Someone whose best suited on a 3rd line. I disagree and see poolman, Stanley, forbort all better than beaulieu. ---- From these comments, we can probably infer that Poolman is no scrub.
  5. https://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/winnipeg-jets-defense.2804328/ Poolman: Playing very well this year. Good skater. Ideally third pair. Morrissey just doesn't look comfortable, and I can't explain it. Doesn't matter who is out there. He hasn't had too many dominant games this year. I'd like to see more from him and Poolman, because that's unequivocally our best skating pairing, and of all defensive combinations we have, that is actually the one who has the most games together, which is another part of our defensive struggles at times. I think we could get more results form having Poolman and Stanley in the lineup, and there is potential for Morrissey-Poolman to be a solid 2nd PK. I honestly think Beaulieu plays better when he fights, but maybe he's been told not to. He's a guy I want on the team, and I think would be professional enough to handle the #7 role well. As a top 4, there's no superstar, and a couple of guys who are competent there but would be excellent bottom pair guys (amongst the leagues best). Poolman: Didn't realize how much this guys game has grown until he was pulled out of the lineup and I saw him come back and play again. He's really great at puck retrievals and using his big body and reach to protect the puck for exits. Great bottom pair option
  6. <Insert comment about I was talking about Poolman the other day until it got derailed> First two comments of the thread. This is all the proof you need to see that AV is only interested in taking shots at the GM more than the player. Need more proof? This was literally found in just 5 minutes. This guy has absolutely no intention of talking about Poolman as a player without taking some kind of shot at the GM, which is problematic, considering this isn't a thread about GM Benning's performance in previous free agencies. Does he offer anything insightful about the player? Perhaps some knowledge about the player's performance during the season and playoffs? One Winnipeg fan said this about Poolman: "But he's actually pretty good when he's appropriately slotted. The hate he received was never justified." https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/christopher.turtoro/viz/shared/WXB27MC3J
  7. Well stated post, especially the bolded. Thank you!
  8. I don't see a point for either side to want it to happen. Ferland gets his money - and a chance to heal with family. Canucks can find a replacement player if need be.
  9. I'm honestly so glad. Everyone needs to see it. I was extremely moved by this moment.
  10. This will send a chill down your spine! https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/summer/trackandfield/high-jumpers-share-win-tokyo-2020-1.6126182 Olympic high jumpers persuade organizers to let them share gold medal Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim added Olympic gold to his list of accolades in the men's high jump in Tokyo on Sunday — and persuaded organizers to let him share it with his friend and rival, Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi. CBC Olympics (@CBCOlympics) Twitter.mp4
  11. That's a great takeaway from this situation. You're absolutely right. Thank you for sharing your perspective on this. That being said, she is responsible for her own behaviour, and what she's doing doesn't reflect her very well. We can come up with excuses/reasons and what not for what she's doing, but it doesn't change the fact that she shifted from him abandoning the household to her making snarky comments about his gambling. There is a certain level of immaturity that bleeds through her posts that cannot be explained by what he did.
  12. Found this here today on CBC's Olympic twitter. An incredible moment where Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim asks the official if he and Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi can share the gold medal in men's high jump --- You can absolutely feel the love and respect from these two athletes, regardless of their origins. Absolutely inspirational. "History, my friend." CBC Olympics (@CBCOlympics) Twitter.mp4
  13. Thank you! I believe they're both narcissistic in their own ways. Their relationship was bound to fail because of their character defects.
  14. I didn't mean to imply that at all. I didn't suggest EK was in the right or wrong. I'm just saying that believing one story over the other is fallacious. It seems clear that both sides have their issues. I am not favouring one over the other. Just look at how the wife is writing her messages. It's purely vindictive in nature. Suddenly it went from him abandoning the baby to 'exposing' his laundry about gambling, all the while writing snide comments? Something doesn't add up.
  15. No one has ever said Benning has done a perfect job, so I don't know why you are making it seem like we are blind Benning homers. This is a complete misrepresentation of fans here.
  16. Wait, you just continued the derailment, added your spin to it, and told ppl not to go off topic anymore? Kind of hard to do that.
  17. The same can be said about his wife. I think BOTH people have their issues. They're toxic.
  18. Don't get me wrong here. EK doesn't get a free pass for anything she said, if true. He is just as responsible for his actions/inactions as she is though. So now you're saying that she can be snide/vindictive while being "desperate"? Being vindictive on IG is a luxury that poor people don't generally have. . Realize that there's two people, and only ONE person is narrating the 'story'.
  19. I've already acknowledged the context and her plight. Instead of re-stating the obvious, I am critiquing how she is PRESENTING the message. If her situation is DESPERATE, does she have to write snide messages like this? It's OBVIOUS to me that there's more to the story. "Don't post old pictures like your home or like your with her. Everyone knows the type of person you are." Also, 14 weeks ago (~4 months ago, she posted this on her IG story). This isn't about character assassination. This is about UNDERSTANDING the full story. At no point am I saying Kane should be excused for anything she is saying. If she's really as starving as she said, would she be doing this? https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17872723460375486/?hl=en Then look at these stories - she's incredibly vindictive in her messages, IMHO: https://www.instagram.com/stories/a.kane_/2630036831464262390/?hl=en This one stuck out to me, in particular @Aladeen I'll repeat again: there's MORE TO THE STORY.
  20. You really missed the point. There are proper avenues for her message. And even if IG was her only outlet - laughable really - you can see how sensationalist her messages are. Don't you think there's a better way of expressing what she's saying? The way she's writing it is like a freaking teenager. I'll give you an example of how she should've written them: My husband, Evander, needs help. He has a gambling problem and he's been ignoring the family. Please understand that we are suffering here. We do not have enough money because he keeps the money for partying. Something like that? Instead, she's going "EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT KIND OF PERSON YOU ARE." It's quite nasty when you think about it.
  21. Suddenly it went from Poolman to a commentary about Benning?
  22. She clearly has time to spend hours on IG roasting her own husband. I'm not saying that her words are false. I'm saying the way she is delivering them in a sensationalist manner.
  23. @lmm No one is required to answer your silly questions because you keep changing the parameters to them. Sorry, your 'point' (if you had one) has long been invalidated. You just hate OEL, and Benning too. You want them all to fail. What kind of a fan WANTS players to fail, and designs 'questions' to make players look like failures? You don't like this team at all. Signature says it all about how irrational you are.
