True but getting a shutout as an Islander (back when he was there - the Fishsticks were REALLY bad) was still a bit of an achievement.

Technically he did get a shutout *AS* a NY Islander (and of course, the number of shutouts as a Canuck goalie).

Florida had a number of key injuries last season; they were a team with not alot of depth & the results on the ice were indicative of that. I think Luongo himself was out a number of games.

Can't help but think that maybe Methot got a bit overrated as a result; or maybe it was just that good a fit for him. Much like Guds playing top four minutes (and leading his team in minutes on the blueline that one post-season) because he had a defensive partner that was a great fit for him (Campbell). Development depends on many things, not just talent (like skill of teammates, coaching, etc.,).

If the officials would actually CALL the infractions - that might solve a number of these issues. I still can't over the fact Ferland was allowed to continually take runs at our players like he had an immunity idol on back in our last playoff series with them. Sedins have always NEVER received the proper respect from the men in stripes (it's hardly like the twins are dive artists).

Last I checked, Loui didn't ask for #11 on his jersey. There's HUGE difference between a player who is just overpaid (by alot mind you...) & that piece of manure (reason why I will never buy Lays chips because he used to do commercials for that company LOL).

That should hardly surprise you though after consecutive 3rd & 2nd last place finishes in the league (coupled with some of the dullest hockey on ice many nights on home ice). People were spoiled from fairly recent history of entertaining hockey (not to mention "W's").

Nope - only that an event totally devoid of any emotion is just as bad. I might as well watch the game at home (with friends - where I'd enjoy it more).

I dunno. the atmosphere at games (yes, I DO attend home games) are almost devoid of emotion for me lately. Makes the experience (for me anyways) alot less enjoyable. Not trying to be argumentative (just my point of vie).

"Fan" is derived from the word "Fanatic". As such, opinions devoid of emotion rarely come into play. If *I* got paid $8 million, I'd gladly be the whipping boy. For the record, I actually pay to be whipped....but that's a story for ANOTHER forum.

Dude has a $6 million cap hit on a long-term deal & is playing like a journeyman bottom 6 forward. It's hardly like it's undeserved.

If Derek Roy was ANY good still, he'd be an NHLer . Actually, the Derek Roy NHLer was trash (at least at the stage in his career when he was a Canuck YEARS ago). Heh, I STILL remember Bryon Ritchie of all people leading his team in scoring (Modo) one season in the SEL.

Plenty of blame to go around - *including Japan* as well. I'm probably in the minority; but I'd rather have Horvat over a 1st line forward. Tough to get a guy with (I think) future leadership potential (future C I think) with enough skill to be a more than solid 2C. The problem is...he can't do it alone (much like a 1st line forward can't do it alone - else the Pens would be winning the Cup every season & they got TWO franchise forwards). Boeser is looking pretty darn good so far though!

I seem to recall (heh I'm too lazy to look it up & confirm - especially since the NHL.com site sucks - I miss the "old site") the Canucks leading (or close to the lead) in fighting majors for a season or two under AV. Didn't stop people (fans of other teams) from still calling the Canucks a bunch of "girly-men". Do I want players with toughness & skill? Of course I do. But failing that, I'd rather have players with skill.
