  1. I'm saying because they can use his contract on LTI and we can get something back. Not serious of course, because we may need that little extra space ourselves.
  2. The thing with the KHL route is he would go straight there and not be attending camp. I know he really wants to attend camp from the sounds of it so I'm not sure that's his first preference. AHL or CHL he can go there at the end of camp.
  3. Had definitely hoped he stuck with the Canucks, especially after winning a Gaunce jersey at the prospects tourney one year, but he never quite put it together despite not being a liability on the 4th line.
  4. Hits a little bit, blocks a bit more, but if he can control his giveaways and put up some offence closer to two years ago, this will be a good signing even at that term. If he truly did have 12 teams interested in him it makes sense we had to go up a bit in term vs wait and try and get something more favourable.
  5. Oof, popped him once right at the start, then got two more in a row at the end. That was pretty one sided. Of the players we signed today I didn't know about, he's one of the more intriguing.
  6. Yes, he can be loaned. It used to be the contract would slide overseas until they turned 21, and I don't think that's changed. Yup, the contract will slide until he goes pro in NA or becomes too old. He just can't go the college route.
  7. That'll be good to see, and maybe even in person!
  8. But wasn't sure how much he'd sign at with another year of flat cap. Seems like a good deal, definitely good term.
  9. A little growth spurt to 6', but not worried about his weight being a younger player (a couple of weeks away from being eligible for next years draft). I guess we'll all be watching the Swedes at the WJHC in the next few years!
  10. Obviously we're all hoping for a growth spurt, but he might have the biggest jump in his ranking this coming season depending how he does.
  11. Adaptable, skilled, and maybe his defence will translate to higher levels. Will be interesting to see how the development goes on a number of these picks.
  12. We do love our Swedes, going all the way back to Gradin.
  13. Gotta love Clark's input on these goalie picks.
  14. Yeah, we always talk about potential with draft picks - and it's alright to be excited about them - but so often they are picked where they are for a reason. We can sure hope though! He seems to have some intriguing skills.
  15. Good depth guy, but he knows that's where he is as well. Can't cry much if a replacement level player moves on.
  16. Who says the tweet is about Goodrow? Could easily be referring to Johnson, or any contracts that aren't that bad but they can't afford.
  17. I had them picked as the best team to come out of the North at the start of the season ...and then there was that terrible performance mid-way through where they didn't look like they'd win anything. They're a solid team though, with players playing to their best. Even with Price you need that, especially doing it without a big name top center.
  18. Fair enough, as I don't know the history (or the other things mentioned). A contract clause wouldn't have any control over his mother, but Jones will probably find somewhere not asking him to restrict his opinions anyway.
  19. I hadn't heard about that. Certainly sours me on him a bit. He can still play hockey though, and with the proper media/morality clauses in his contract, it should be manageable.
  20. I'd be surprised if that's all they ask for, and Schmidt likely has Columbus on his 10-team no trade list. I'm sure Columbus would love some players with a couple years of term. They'd have to get some quality back, and they have some cap space to play with. Defence in particular will be a need if they trade Jones. Our problem is Myers and Schmidt both have a 10-team no trade list, and the forwards we'd part with aren't enticing enough. They won't want Virtanen (would love it if they did), Pearson is a maybe piece, but we'd be looking at picks and prospects otherwise. Rathbone and Gadjovich, maybe even Woo, our 1st and a little more. If we could give them a combination of that, with someone like Pearson mixed in, I think I'd consider it though.
  21. That's a HUUUUUUUUGGGGEE leap. It would be a smaller leap for Bieksa (or Stewart) to leap from behind their desk at home to the studio and one punch McLean in the face.
  22. Yeah, it's a bigger stretch to say just because someone has a shirt off they would test positive for HIV than it is to think it's weak that it's about the picture and having a high blood alcohol content.
  23. Nice to see the Utica fans can keep their Comets identity. I had heard the Devils usually force their name on their AHL affiliate. The colour change was expected though. Good luck next year!
