  1. It's not quite a 15 point deficit as the majority of Gomes' voters will go to Haddad in the run-off election. Honestly, Haddad is probably a $&!# candidate as well. Part of the same party as former president Lucas, who's facing corruption charges. His party also has far-left sympathisers and supporters who support Maduro in Venezuela. These countries are a mess right now.
  2. Don't see how Brazil avoids electing Bolsonaro given just how disastrous their previous governments have been. Be prepared for even worse, much worse. Wouldn't be surprised if Brazil goes dictatorial under Bolsonaro given that they are still a young democracy and much of the populous is distrustful of democratic leaders currently. People are swayed by showmanship and Bolsonaro has that in spades compared to Haddad. If you want to make some money, invest in the Brazil stock market now. Should continue to soar if Bolsonaro is elected.
  3. His passing and transition games are good. Needs time to get up to NHL speed defensively and mentally. I think there's enough here that he'll get some NHL games in this year and, hopefully, be a permanent spot by the end of the year/next year. Yea he was poor defensively last game but I think he can improve on that and do better.
  4. Yes, in one of only 7 states that have no state tax. California's is also 13%. Plus you only pay taxes where you play so only 50% of your games count for the local taxes. Of those seven states with no sales tax, I think only three? of them have teams. Most of the big market teams have some of the highest taxes in the states. Then you have the exchange rate and the Raptors players are paying 25% less for everything while they are in Canada. The main reason why nobody comes to Toronto is because it's in Canada, not because of taxes. Less exposure, foreign country, probably less endorsements for some players.
  5. Unlikely, taxes aren't too different than in a good portion of the states from what I recall. California's taxes aren't much better than Toronto's. Players get paid in US dollars as well so they come out pretty well with the current exchange rate.
  6. Pretty sure the Raps made this trade knowing that there's a 99% chance Leonard leaves next year. It's an all-in move for this year and then Masai will likely go young the following year and start anew. Raps organization had zero trust in Derozan + Lowry taking them to the finals, not that I blame them. Lowry is 33 now so they'll get another year or two out of him and then it will be a complete changing of the guard.
  7. Did you take into account the interest? They don't usually show how much interest you're paying when they give you your estimated monthly payment, just the rate.
  8. What did they expect when RAW was happening in Minny, Brock's home state. Just a stupid idea.
  9. She lost her vision for doing that. She can't use the faces as she is "someone".
  10. Batman vs Superman: complete utter garbage, nothing else to say. 0/10 Captain America: Civil War: best movie I've seen so far this year. Solid 8/10, plot holes bring it down. Next up: X-men (can you tell I watch a lot of superhero movies?)
  11. Way too difficult for McGregor to jump two weight classes like that. Put himself in a huge disadvantaged and he paid for it but props for him for taking the fight. Definitely has guts (or maybe just a lack of brains) for fighting at a weight too heavy for him.
  12. Milk = good is the general consensus. Onus is on you to show otherwise. If you can't, it's just hot air.
  13. That's an excellent way to make your dad money but not so much for yourself.
  14. Mike Trout is far better than Pujols right now. The difference between the two of them offensively is much larger than the difference between Donaldson and Bautista. They aren't even close. Pujols has an OBP of only around .320, and an OPS of .830. Well below Trout's marks. This isn't <30 year old Pujols. Goldschmidt is also a top-3 batter in the entire league and has an elite 1.027 OPS (higher than Trout). Peralta is good but again, not even close to Goldschmidt. Donaldson and Bautista are relatively close in terms of production. Each getting on base at an almost equal amount with Donaldson having the better slug%. Another reason why Donaldson doesn't get intentionally walked is that Bautista is one of the rare batters than walk more or equal to the amount they strikeout. He puts the ball in play at a very high rate which is what you want to avoid in high leverage situations.
  15. Don't underestimate the importance of defense. Pillar is one of the best defensive center fielders in the game right now which ups his worth a lot. He's still young at 26 and in his first full season in the bigs. His strike out rate and decreased nicely with only 60 strikeouts in 400+ plate appearances. He also has decent speed and is a stolen base threat. If he can get his walk rate up and subsequently his OBP to around .320-.330, he could be an above average center fielder for many years to come.
  16. Problem with Pillar is that he has a terrible bat. He's been a better clutch hitter than past years but his underlying numbers still suck. .305 OBP, 5:1 SO/BB ratio, etc. Guy has got to learn how to take a walk. His defense has been great and is what's keeping him in the line-up. His steals add value as well and if he can become a 20+ steals/season player with +++ defense and a below average bat, he should be able to stay as a starter. The Jays pitching (especially the starters) have been hot garbage and has earned the league's best offense a below .500 record.
  17. FYI, when it comes to lower back pain, I'd put Chiro's at equal footing with MD's. Low back pain is very poorly treated in the medical community, but is USUALLY self-limiting thankfully. When it isn't and not surgically repairable, then an MD's pretty limited in his treatment options. You've got NSAIDs 1st line (along with non-pharm: heat/postural changes/physio). If NSAIDs don't work you move onto opiods which very often do more harm than help in this case and aren't much of a benefit in terms of pain relief in low back pain. Chiro can save a patient from months/years of drug use and even surgery in lower back pain. Not to mention patient preference will typically lean quite heavily on the chiro side over drug use and surgery. Chiropractic practice isn't high on evidence (quite difficult to do so as well seeing as how patient's cannot be blinded) but even if it's just a placebo effect, it's important to remember that the placebo effect is still providing benefit to the patient.
  18. Mike Wilner ‏@Wilnerness590 now AA: People in our analytics dept. think there's a lot of offensive upside in Smoak. #Bluejays #Jays Analytics is the way to go. Really excited to see what the starting line-up looks like. Saunders was a good pickup and should put up a decent enough .OPS. Seems like AA has been basing all of his trades on analytical analysis. 20 million plus and Navarro's trade still left over. Looking for a SP and a RP or two.
  19. The new Hunger Games movie was easily the worst of the movies I've seen all year - 2/10 GOTG was pretty good, lot of wierd lines however - 8.2/10. Interstellar - 9.5/10 - really love the soundtrack of this movie. Matt Damon scenes pulled the rating down, along with some others. Days of Future Past - a lot better than the other X-men movies - 7.9/10 Winter Soldier - really liked this one - 8.4/10 Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - not as good as the last one but still enjoyable. Will probably rewatch in a year or so 8.6/10
  20. Based on back to back 7+ WAR seasons (2nd only to the game's best player, Mike Trout).
