  1. Where's Alf? He's an ancient alien. Sure hope Olli gets into the game tomorrow.
  2. The Professor is going to want his Podz.

  4. Anyone have any updates on NHL testing of players since the July 27, "No positives in >4,200 tests on >800 players from July 18 - July 25" report? I checked NHL.com, but they only have this last report up. Maybe their next report is for July 26 - August 2nd or something like that. I also imagine that, if anyone had tested positive, it would have been reported and the contacts traced.
  5. All this talk about the good news for Juolevi, the Canucks, and Canucks fans got me thinking about what Pool Party is up to. So I dragged this off the Deadmonton Journal: Jesse Puljujarvi's strongest hint at return to Edmonton Oilers: "I have grown and I see things a little differently" Author of the article: David Staples • Edmonton Journal Publishing date: Jul 29, 2020 • Last Updated 2 hours ago • 2 minute read Sweden's Mikael Wikstrand skates against Finland's Jesse Puljujarvi in the Euro Hockey Tour's Karjala Cup on Finland Nov. 10, 2019. JUSSI NUKARI / Reuters, file Article Sidebar Share TRENDING Masks will be required in Edmonton's public indoor spaces starting August 1 after city council approval Edmonton weather: Hotter than the hottest hot that ever hot with Video Alberta Legislative Assembly wraps up spring sitting with passing of Bills 30, 32 Player grades: Hard-hitting exhibition ends with Edmonton Oilers beating Calgary Flames 4-1 with Video COVID-19: Four new deaths reported in Edmonton; Good Samaritan Southgate Care Centre becomes city's largest outbreak Article content This in from Jesse Puljujarvi talked to Tampere Iltalehti, his strongest statement yet that he’s backed off the notion he’ll never again play for the Edmonton Oilers and is thinking of coming back: “You can never say no. I have grown and I see things a little differently. There’s now a different GM and head coach out there. Build a winning team in Edmonton. It may be possible that I will still be playing there.” In regards to his latest conference call with Oilers GM Ken Holland and coach Dave Tippett, Puljujarvi said: “It was a good and constructive conference call. However, I will not go into the details. The call left a positive overall picture.” Jesse Puljujarvi's strongest hint at return to Edmonton Oilers: "I have grown and I see things a little differently" Puljujarvi said he could sign with his club in Oulu again this year, but return to the Oilers when the NHL season commences late in 2020 or early in 2021. My take Calmer heads are prevailing. It’s clear that Puljujarvi was unhappy with his previous treatment in Edmonton but there’s also a hint here he’s taking responsibility himself for his previous mediocre play. The most hopeful comment he made here? “I have grown and I see things a little differently.” On the right wing, Edmonton has Zack Kassian and Kailer Yamamoto on the top two lines, Josh Archibald and Alex Chiasson just below them, with Cooper Marody and Patrick Russell also in the hunt for pro jobs, and Kirill Maksimov on the farm. Yamamoto and Kassian are part of the long-term future of the club, but it’s not clear Kassian will always be a top line winger. There’s an opening for a strong two-way winger on the second or third line for the Oilers, with Archibald hanging in as a checking forward. It could well be that the Oilers still trade Puljujarvi, who makes it clear playing in the NHL remains his top goal. He may well have more value to a team with a gaping hole on its right side and in need of a top young attacking prospect, but one who is 22 and not 18. It’s not like Edmonton doesn’t need Puljujarvi. If he can find a way to bring his “A” game to Edmonton, he can help this team win. But another club may see even more value in him, given that team’s specific needs.
  6. Their strength is also their weakness. That is, Suter, Parise, and Staal are very good but they are older and not what they once were. The Avs might even be able to win this game with their speed and youth overpowering late in the game. And we are a lot like the Avs in our balance of youth and experience, not overloaded with all their cap tied up in a few older players.
  7. We can take the series. Staal is a handful, to be sure, but we will shut him down. Nobody is going to stop Huggy Bear, Tofifay, Petey, and JT. And Marky will stop everything.
  8. Who are these people who get to decide what we hear or see? Watching shows and movies where the f-bombs and heavy sex scenes are deleted is ridiculous. Advanced civilizations like Sweden for example, don't have any of this nonsense. Either show the production or don't; don't 'sanitize' it for me; that should be our prerogative. They show all kinds of terrible things like torture and pedophilia but nobody should hear an expletive? (Expletive deleted)(expletive deleted)!
  9. He just wanted to make contact with the guy's head. Lined him up and delivered the force of the hit directly to the head. Good call by the dop(e)s, imo.
  10. Maybe sit Virtanen and dress Juolevi as a 7th D/13th F?
  11. For some Olli Juolevi content: From The Last Word On Hockey, May 22/20: https://lastwordonhockey.com/2020/05/22/introducing-the-vancouver-canucks-black-aces/ A lot of Canucks fans don’t want to hear this, but Olli Juolevi is a pretty darn good prospect. Everything the Canucks liked about him in 2016 is still there. He thinks the game well, makes smart, reliable plays. He defends well, picks his spots to attack, and will be on the ice in any situation. Assuming he’s not ‘on ice’ that is. After a few injury-plagued seasons, Juolevi finally played a mostly healthy season, playing 45 games and getting 25 points. It didn’t match his points-per-game from 2019-20, but Rafferty seized the power-play time that was previously his. Not a great loss, as that’s not where Juolevi was going to be used in Vancouver anyhow. With all the time he has lost to injuries, there is concern he is behind his expected development curve. And he is, but he remains a 22-year old prospect, despite being in the news for what feels like decades. And for something more recent: From Canucks Army: https://canucksarmy.com/2020/07/15/a-full-recap-of-day-three-at-canucks-training-camp/ Juolevi looked sharp and powerful with his skating on day two of camp. He competed in the scrimmage as a forward and a defenceman and then practiced with the second group, looking strong in many drills. (Apologies for the bold type; couldn't get rid of it.)
  12. Thanks for your considered response. I was just ranting a bit because there seems to be a resurgence of support for Luongo and I feel balance is required. Very little action on CDC these days; I guess we're all a little bit heartbroken. Saw a clip of JB sitting by himself up near the cheap(er) seats looking despondent. Feel for the guy; he's done so much good work to get the team ready for the playoffs. Sad days; stay well.

  14. Gotta love all Green in the top 6 ratings for the Canucks. Miller #7 LW Petey #14 C Toffee #25 RW Adequate.
  15. I stand corrected. (But TBF, they were/are both head cases.)
  16. Grrrrrr Hate being reminded of that clusterbfuglin. Still think it was a deliberate attempt to injure Brock by steering him into the door jam. Glad Brock's back. Jake deserves to stay in the lineup. We went from a dark hole at RW to pretty well set up w/Brock, Tofu, Jake, and Double Big Mac. We got Brock back. Marky's skating. And the Big 'Friendly' Guy just played his last game in the KHL. It's happening..
  17. That's it. We win Tree is free!
