  1. So much Gretzky in the last 10 pages I had to puke a couple times to catch up.
  2. With Baer out, we have a huge hole on left wing. I am starting to wonder if Motte hasn't earned a chance higher up in the lineup. He sure put an end to all his direct competition, Leipsic, Gagner, Boucher, Gaunce, Dahlen, Archibald, etc (I must be missing some more).
  3. Bang on, Not-So-Silent-Sam! We already own his rights, do not have to trade anyone away to get him, just get him back here after this season. Get Tryamkin, Hughes, and Karlsson (UFA) and our rebuilt team is a contend-ah (as in, "I couldah been a contendah" - Brando in On the Waterfront).
  4. This is more a proof of a corrupt system than evidence that intelligence is a prerequisite for admittance.
  5. Maybe start a new thread to drum up support for a review. Compare this silence to the uproar over EP perhaps. (Don't know how to do it or I would try myself.)
  6. That cele is so sick. Teammates all getting mugged in front of the net, WL just tucks it in, and skates away.
  7. What you are is, "On Ignore". Most of us don't even see your drivel unless Rob chooses to put you in your place.
  8. Yeah, I think this could well be true. LAK is an example of a team full of "OK" players that form an excellent team overall. I first started fumbling around with this idea when Gillis was trying to fit everyone under the cap. I think Crosby/Malkin and Ovechkin may have, in a way, held their teams back a bit until management figured out how to work around top-paid "super stars". It also creates distortions in the room if one or two guys are too far ahead of the rest; e.g. Barry Bonds in baseball with his own locker room (full of drugs), trainer, etc. I hope we can keep Hughes, Pettersson, Boeser, and perhaps others from demanding the highest market value with the high character they all display, including Horvat of course. I don't know enough about it but I would think something like long-term RFA contracts before they reach UFA status might could help. (Grammar learned from talking to a gorgeous Southern Belle in full huge dress that took up 3 -4 seats in the stands during a short trip to Georgia for The Masters. Her beautiful response to my question was, "I might could do that". lol) Oh well, great problem to have; just like it is going to be great to move some lesser players and prospects out of the system this year.
  9. No, you're not wrong. Look at how much CDC has improved since school started.. Edit: I am really looking forward to the time when we have Quinn Hughes passing to Pettersson; really can't seem to wait for it, even though this season is about to start with the first pre-season game tonight.
  10. Yeah, it was one of the first things I noticed about EP; they both have their heads up all the time looking at the whole ice, and confidently understanding the entire situation and opportunities.
  11. Quinn Hughes is an amazing talent; can't wait 'til he makes the team. This is the best group of young talent we have ever had, without a doubt. Old Farts Club members may recall the entirely bleak 70's when we may even have had the worst management in the league. It was brutal. Most people I knew (remember, it was the 70's) didn't even follow sports and the Nux were second to the Lions. We used to get in either sneaking in or buying cheap scalped tix or if we really had to, we'd buy standing room only and watch the best seats for the first ten minutes. Then we'd just pick out the best empty seats at center ice for the rest of the game. It was less than ten bucks. And you could sneak in booze (et cetera) and it was more or less ok ('til the Lemon Gin ran out)!
  12. Does listening to the WHL Canucks on the radio for years before the NHL let us into the league (and years before watching Snepsts' first training camp) get me into this old farts' club? Snepsts' first training camp highlight for me was watching this huge grin grow on Harry's face when he realized someone was actually going to ask him to dance. (Might have been Dave Hutchinson?) It was so exciting to see him realize his opportunity to show what he could bring to the team. And, he did not disappoint. But that was about '74, I think and I had already been a fan for about 10 years.
  13. I like the way Manukyan sees the opportunity and heads right at the defenceman until he can't do anything but put his stick between Manukyan's legs. Then he lets it rip before D or goalie can adjust. Top corner too. Nice goal.
  14. Hint to canuck73_3 et al who are arguing with these trolls: Put them on "Ignore". They are cluttering up every thread.
  15. No apologies necessary! One more sleep. Anyone in the lower mainland gonna greet him at the airport? Sing the song? ('Lias is our Idol) Paint yourself GOLD? In about 8 hours it will be Monday in Sweden. Direct flight is almost 10 hours. So maybe, anytime after 1:00 am Monday?
  16. This is like CDC's version of Christmas. Kids are going back to school and we get to open our presents soon.
  17. Thanks for posting that; good read. Any idea which Monday EP is flying into Vancouver?
  18. I guess I missed that footage; anyone care to repost?
  19. I think the problem with your posts is this juvenile, "man up, tail between his legs, run home", etc., tone. He made a decision, for his own reasons, and we all have to live with the consequences. Your points are well made, just get rid of the (imo) unnecessary derogitories. I want Tryamkin back in a big way (pun intended) and anything that can help, like extending open arms, offering a second chance, and starting from scratch with a clean slate should be offered to help his transition back to the team, and assist him gaining management's and his teammates' respect.
  20. When did Tryamkin say that they could smell weed everywhere in Vancouver and where were they? Just thinking that it may have been around April 20th in the West End. Regardless, I am one who wants Big Nik back; I think he is a unique player and NHL calibre. I'd much rather we had him on the team than if we have to play against him.
  21. Thanks. I thought people on here were talking about an urgency like 2 or 3 weeks from July first, but I guess it was more like you say, an effort to be fair to his college team.
  22. What is the deadline for Hughes to decide? (Googled for a while but got nowhere.)
