To Minnesota:
Brock Boeser
Nils Höglander
To Vancouver:
Jordan Greenway
Jesper Wallstedt
Brock gets to go back to Minnesota and the Wild get the scorer they need. They also get a very good prospect in Höglander who doesn't seem to be a fit in Vancouver and is not waiver eligible next year so we either need to play him or trade him.
The Canucks get a big power forward who can play up and down the lineup and would be able to play Rick Tocchet hockey. He is not having a good year at all so his trade value is low. We also get our future #1 Swedish goalie in Wallstedt. Makes up for the mistake of letting Markstrom go. Wallstedt IMO was the top goalie prospect in 2021 and is having a great year in the AHL. I think he will be a true #1 goalie in the NHL.
We shed almost $4 million in salary as well for next year...
Who says no?
I like the trade but don't think Wild trade, Wallstedt 20 --6'5 Goalie of the future..
Maybe Dumba 28 -6'0 - UFA 5.5 - 6 million. demand ????? - Lambos 6'1 - 19 -LD 26th O/A 2021 draft --
Boeser - Rathbone
Don't know if Vancouver want to lock into 4--6 year contract X 6 million, with Duba 29 next season??

Have to say, watching McDonough’s game earlier tonight, he’s so much faster now. Was flying out there on a few shifts. Seems like the work he’s put in with his skating is paying off. On the negative side, he had a few “JT Miller style” shifts defensively, halfheartedly waving the stick at guys he probably could have taken pucks off of if he’d been more engaged, and standing around the zone a bit (albeit well positioned, usually) when more of a pressure mindset might have allowed him to win back some pucks. I won’t hold it against him too much, and generally he was solid enough, plus he’s there to score more than anything. Just felt the effort in his own zone could have been more consistent and he could dial up the intensity a bit there. Overall, however, he looked good. And both his regulation goal and the shoot out winner were impressive.
Hope he chooses to sign with the Canucks. I like his chances to become an NHL player, especially now that the skating is looking better.
EDIT: And the defensive stuff can be coached and some of it comes with experience and maturity. Plus, I have seen McD play better games in his own zone and he can be more of a force there. I think the fact they went down 3-0 and needed to pull themselves out of a hole probably played a factor. Can’t really blame the kid for thinking offence more then defence, and maybe looking to cheat a little here and there, saving energy for the next offensive opportunity, and focusing on being ready for when his teammates win back pucks and turn the play up ice. And certainly can’t fault his intensity in the offensive zone, on this or any other night. He was fully engaged and looking dangerous for much of the game. Not just on his scoring chances but battling for pucks on the forecheck and working hard to gain and/or keep possession. He definitely uses his size and skill to his advantage in the offensive zone.
It will be very interesting to see if he signs with the Canucks..

so you have no good reason
I asked a simple question
the old vetran presence excuse … yup that sound like the same nonsense jim Benning use to try to pour in his long list of stupid mistakes.
There is in fact no real reason to keep miller
the timeline for this team makes him worthless.
I have no hate for miller aside for how grossly over rated he is by some here.
I have a hate for keeping players that serve no purpose and will lose all usefulness and value before the team can compete for anything.
The “vetran presence” is easy to and much cheaper -schenn is a far superior vetran leader and presence than miller Ep hughes will be the vetran presence.
find a different excuse maybe” foundational “ lol
so keep miller and watch him lose value while the team wins nothing or trade him and get the chance to get a player that’ll be in his prime and help this club when millers in the last year of his retirement contract.
Signing miller was in fact a mistake and was driven by the same mistake we will make this year with a pointless winning streak that refools some into thinking this team is actually close and competative.
I was shocked new management team decided to sign Miller 29 over Horvat 27?Horvat a true solid centre plays a great 200 foot game that should score 26-33 G-- 62-68 points
Miller better winger then a centre had great trade value, should produce 24-28 G-- 72--78 points.
I really thought Canuck management could of signed Horvat to a 7 million X 7 yrs last July after previous season of 54, 52 , 39, 53, 61 point seasons.
Canucks were most likely offering 6 -- 6.5 million - they sign Boeser to 6.8? I then said Horvat worth 6.8 - 7 million ? It backfired on Canucks management team..
Then Horvat doesn't get sighed and starts producing crazy points like never before? Too late to think about signing once season started..
I think Miller is a great talent but his personality I have always wondered about..
I don't blame Horvat for not wanting to sign for low ball offers after management signed Miller, Boeser..
NYR supposed had offer Chytil 6'3 -24 C -- Lundqvist rd 23 - 1st rounder? Miller ?
I don't mind trade for Horvat---- Raty 20 # 2 C. 2024-25 SEASON--Beauvillier 25 -W speedy --- 1st rounder 2023 or 2024
1.Need to move Boeser 25 6.8 million or Garland 26 - 4.9 million
2. Myers 33 - after July 1st bonus 5 million is paid out - new team 1 million remaining easy to move - Rd #3 plays 21--23 mins.
Need to find good replacement other wise it will be a long season.
3. Schenn -33 - trade at deadline the 2nd rounder or prospect and run...
4. Bear 25 RD - sign 2 yrs 2.5 million show me more
5. Dermott 26 ? Injury not sure...
6. Pearson 30 ? If he place again buy him out...
7. OEL 31-- He is here for next 4 seasons-- He should be better wonder if he has nagging injury ?

You won't get some crazy haul for Hughes. Quinn is an excellent defenceman, but a team is not giving up 5 or 6 assets for him.
I think any package starts with Nemec and a 1st.
Then you add in a roster player, and MAYBE a smaller add-on (B prospect or 2nd round pick)
So...
Nemec
Wood
1st
2nd
or to make room on the LHD...
Nemec
Siegenthaler
1st
These proposals of Nemec + another top tier prospect + 1st + good roster player would never happen. Nemec is worth so much that I don't even think NJ would move him for Hughes.
I agree so many of these Canuck fans on this forum have no idea how good Nemec and Mercer are....
To your point if Canucks received, Nemec 18 RD -- Mercer 21 W--- 1st rounder in 2023 - 2nd rounder 2024, Hockey experts would say Canucks did fantastic with Hughes trade

To Canucks
Karlsson 4 Mil salary retenained.
Karlsson is still a beast for the next 4 years. top R defenceman.
OMG worst trade idea?
Karlsson will not get Canucks into playoffs? Another old D man injury prone look at previous 4 yrs..
Canucks want players under 27 and they want 1st round draft picks.
Deal never happens..Karlsson will want to go to a contender also..

In memory 2 top d-men drafted are Dale Tallon and Quinn Hughes. Tallon was the beginning of poor player development which has continued for decades. Hughes is a talent that has risen above the BS of Canuckland. Like any player management has to value Quinn and decide if moving him is a net benefit to the organization. If they misjudge then the Canucks will suffer their decision for a decade or longer. My biggest fear is that he wants to move on like his friends did in Calgary. PA has some time to figure that out. This is not a panic situation. There are more important players to trade right now.
I agree Tallon playing on poor expansion team .. Devils trade will heat up over next 6 to 10 months when youngest Hughes brother Luke joins the NJ Devils team..I imagine Luke will sign with Devils when his college season is over this year.

to NJD
hughes
schenn

Not happening you say? exactly.... Jersey can either make it really worth it or buzz the hell off.
Thats ridiculous NJ doesn't make that trade..Your key players Nemec RD 18 - Mercer 21 W-- 1st rounder 2023 -- 2nd rounder 2024

They don't need Quinn and we don't need to trade the greatest Dman in Vancouver Canucks history...
Canucks have never drafted great D man since coming into the league in 1970 so shocking..
I will always say if you can move 1 great player and your return is over the top with 4--5 players coming back you have to make those tough trades..Vancouver will be a middle of road team until they make this kind of trade..
Canucks will be 14th to 26th place team for many years if they don't make a big trade like this..
Return with NJ Devils would be very very good.

Quinn had 53 points in 68 games in the NHL as a 20-year-old. So, what is your point exaclty? Quinn is the franchise player right now, not Nemec...
Never said Quinn is not a star ?
Just explaining offer NJ Devils would be giving up is a game changer?
Adding Nemec 18 - Future #1 D ma - Mercer 21 - future top 6 forward and 1st rounder 2023
along with prospect would make Vancouver a better team?
Subtract Hughes ?
Add 5 players?'
Are you not a stronger team? Come on ?????????? Way more depth is this not what we are talking about????
Make the team stronger..Experts would all say yes..

Could be a game changer not would.
The first is a throw in that probably won’t equal anything that’s just the odds.
Mercer looks good but it’s early. He’s not even playing center for the Devils right now. Is he gonna be the answer to our second line center problem? Because if he’s not that doesn’t do a lot for us.
Nemec is the biggest piece of this deal because of hype. Do we really wanna trade a young star defenseman for hype? Let’s be honest we’d be lucky if he even came close to Hughes level. Sure he might be better defensively but he’s not gonna be a point per game defenseman.
Raty will be # 2 centre 2024-25 season

How can you say he will be a 3rd line winger..lol lol..Come on look at his stats man..
Nemec 18 - playing in the AHL-- playing great? Did you watch U20 WC ???
These players will be star-- Do you listen to experts talking about there players ?
The trade will set Vancouver up..

I'm not trading the greatest Dman in Canucks history for a guy who MAY be a 3C in the future, and for a Dman who MAY be a top 2 guy in the future. Mercer already needs to be a 3C who is showing that he can take draws with the best of them, and Nemec already needs to be a top 4 Dman playing 23 minutes a night before I make this deal. I;m not trading Quinn for potential. It needs to be a sure thing...
Mercer is only 21 yrs old now--- Age 20 --Gp 82 - 17 G - PTS 42 -- Age 21 -2022-23 GP 50-- G11 PTS 29 Future Top 6
Nemec 18 yrs old - RD - 2nd O/A 2022 -AHL GP 38 - PTS 17 Utica Comets --U20 WJC GP5 - 5 PTS - 1st team Allstar
1st round draft pick and prospect ?? Could be 3 - 5 players? Would be the trade to really turn team in upward direction.
The deal would be a changer for Vancouver .. New Jersey will over pay and they have prospects to make it happen..
Vancouver would be crazy not to..It will happen sooner then later..
Devils will want 3 Hughes brothers great for marketing etc..

maybe , maybe , maybe today .. talk to us in 2 years when we are starting to really compete .. hughes will be way up that list .. im so sorry but I know Im right . 23 man ..
There are a lot of great young D men and we can all have our favs? Nobody can argue Hughes is a top 8 D man with special offensive skill..
But if New Jersey Devils make a ridiculous offer to get Hughes brothers together Canucks have to listen and lean on taking a very great deal of high end prospects.. The deal would be very good as its not easy to get brothers together and Quinn Hughes is worth lots..
1. Nemec 19 - RD playing fantastic this season - 2nd O/A 2022 - 2.Mercer 21 W-- 18th O/A 2020 2 NHL season--

Glad you are not GM package you will get for Hughes will set up Canucks for years?
Hughes is great but package coming back with be much better then Hughes..
You with stick with roster we have?? Spinning your wheels in mud for years then?????
Big change is needed and Devils are loaded with top end prospects to make a very good trade..
Might be 4 players under 23 years old for Hughes? High end players
Devils will make it happen sooner then later...
Would start with - 1st rounder -- Nemcec -RD 19 - 2nd O/A playing great -- Mercer 21 already in NHL playing well.. 2nd rounder 2024

We should ask for either Stephenson (better center replacement) OR Roy (lesser C replacement) + a center prospect, plus Korczak and a 1st.
Time to fully charge that divisional tax.
I agree a centre has to come back..This deal will never happen unless Vancouver take back 8 million in cap?
Vegas is up against and over cap...
Kane will be a player Vegas trade for.

Mercer 18th O/A -21- W top 6 forward in near future -- Nemec 19 - RD future top D man #2 O/A 2022 -- 1st rounder 2023

Even if that first can just fill a role on your team. Bottom pair D or even a bottom 6 energy/shutdown guy.
Having guys completely bust out absolutely kills a teams build.
We’ve had 6 top 10 picks since 2014 and only currently have two players on our roster to show for it. That’s absolutely brutal. Benning needed to be canned long before he was.
In the last 9 years since 2014 Canucks hav had 5 top ten picks - 2 yrs no 1st rounder - Boeser #23- Lekkerimaki #15
2022- Lekkerimaki #15 - 2021 - No 1st rounder Klimovich 41st -- 2020 - no 1st or 2nd Rd -- Jurmo #82 - 20019 #10 Podkolzin
2018 Hughes #7 --- 2017 Pettersson #5 -- 2016 - Juolevi #5 -- 2015. Boeser #23 -- 2014 - Virtanen #6 -- McCann #24
Really hurt Canucks also no 1st rounders 2021 and 2020 and no 2nd rounder in 20220..
Raty might make up for no 1st rounder 2021 as he was ranked as high as #1 that year..
Raty 20 - 6'2 - 195- future # 2 centrę..
