Not just ranked as a 1st rounder, he was touted as a possible 1st OA.  Karpat was just not a good team and did not play a style conducive to boosting a draft eligible player.

    Yeah I read that also..

Yeah I read that also but never put that in post with negative people on these sites..I am excited to have Raty in Canuck prospect pool..

    1. Raty  20 - C - 6'2 -- 2.  Pettersson 19 - LD - 6'3   3. Lekkerimaki  18 - W  5'10- -  4. Jurmo  20 -D -6'4   5. Kilimovich - W- 20-6'2

    6. Turcott 20 - 6'1 D

    • There it is 1
  2. Looking at NHL Future Watch May 2022 Aatu Raty is NYI # 1 prospect then . At one point Ranked a first round pick but slipped into second moving from Karpat 2021-22  - Gp 6  PT 1  to  2021-22 Jukurit GP 41 --PTS 40..

Future Watch Raty NHL 2024 -25 season - So time line is perfect season with Abby most of next season who know with his skill he could be ready October 2023-24 play 3rd line centre?

Very excited with this very young prospect centre just turned 20 on  November 14th..

Raty 20 - 6'2 -  C -190 lbs-- Future #2 centre -- We don't have depth at centre so happy to get a young talented centre in this trade only 20 years old... I know we need RD men also both positions are hard to find...

    Go Canucks Go!!!

I would love Morrow, I am not sure they let him go...........

As for the Boeser trade.........we are retaining for 2 years..........that is alot!!!!!!!  (Dramatic! Sorry!)

IMO....just mine.............those picks are so late they look like the next round almost, so I don't think  they are that bad........

Carolina will lose alot of offense next year, so I think Miller replaces some of that. You have to remember that NYR actually thought Miller was worth trading for...........

Chytl , Lundqvist and a 1st.......vs..........Kotkinaneimi, a 1st, and a 2nd...............................I would argue that the Ranger package was better, so I don't think it is out of line

then you look at the Horvat Package................That 1st is pretty early compared to the Carolina one.........Beau = Kot, and I think Raty is much more than a very late 2nd

So, I guess you could be right..........but???????????

I would rather trade and retain money the buy players out..

Boeser - I am okay retaining 1.5 million X 2 yrs -- Much easier to trade and get prospect and say 2 nd rounder back

Miller - might be tough to move as with Horvat gone we do need him playing #2 centre now ? If there is a great deal to be made yes trade him..

Myers - will be traded in summer after his bonus is paid 5 million only 1 million remain for new team trading for him..

Schenn 33 - RD -- have to get return -- 2nd rounder or prospect

NYR - Lundqvist was traded in October to Dallas ?

McDonnough and Klim are both big, skilled guys.  I very much like their chances too.  Can’t teach size.

Will be interesting if McDonnough signs with Vancouver this spring? He might not sign?  Sure hope he does....

Doesn't he have to sign with the team before the new season rolls over?  He was drafted almost three years ago.  I thought draft rights expired over time.

EDIT: I did some digging, and it looks like both sides expressed interest in him coming over following the conclusion of this season.  So we might even see him play for Abbotsford this year in March.  His rights expire June 2024, over a year from now.

I think he signed 2 year contracted back home..He should be free from his contract 2023-24 season?

Yes, I am that confident Jurmo is truly the best prospect we have.

Over Rathbone, Podkolzin, Hoglander, hell even Raty.

He was ranked 20th on NHL central scouting and ranked 46th by EP, as well as 60th by Bob McKenzie.

    Just look at his highlights:

He’s 6’4 198lbs. His skating ability, size, athleticism, physicality etc scouts rave about are evident. He is a true defensive defenseman with offensive instincts.

I’ll buy his ticket, this is the type of defenseman we need and he’s literally in our system!

I am a big  Jurmo fan also 6'4 can skates well, physical, defensive big guy.. Hope he comes over soon and plays some games for Abby Canucks..

The team has zero goaltending and virtually nothing coming down the pipes if this happens.

Neither Martin nor Delia are NHL goaltenders.  Silovs is still a long-shot / project.

Trading Demko makes no sense whatsoever unless there is a high end / can't miss goaltending prospect coming back as part of the deal.

Furthermore, who is lining up right now for guy with a 3-10-2 record with a 3.93 GAA and S% of 0.883.

Maybe Demko wants out of Vancouver ? I have heard rumours and as long as Rutherford doesn't get interview Canucks will keep things top secret..

  9. I am okay with the trade.. We get younger and more trades coming.

I really like blue chip prospect Raty 20, 6'2 - 195 lbs playing in AHL with 15 points in 27 games

U 20--2022 - GP 7 - PTS 10 Finland-- Sure hope he turns into a #2 centre... Let him season in Abby this season..

    Beauvillier 25---5'11- 180 lbs, speed, play a complete game both ends -- Future GP 75 -- G 18--22 - PTS 38 -- 44

    Okay with this player..

1st rounder hope its this year and pick should be between 13th and 17th-- Nice having 2 picks in first round..

    2023 - Canucks pick 5th -- 9th -- NYI pick between 13th - 16th...

  10. I think Vancouver and NJ Devils could be serious trade talks? Severson 6'2 RD - 29 August -UFA could fit in #3 D man ..

Making 4.1 million..New salary could be 5.2--6 million X 5 yrs?I would think Vancouver would want to talk to his agent and sign him before trade is made..

    Boeser 25 - 6.8 million

    Severson 28 -- 4.1 million

  11. When Demko comes back and ready to play they will have 3 goalies..

    Martin - 27 - 3.94 GAA - signed next season 1 way contract 750,000

    Delia - 28 -- 2.94 GAA - UFA

I think Martin will be put on waivers teams might not claim him with his contract?

Unfortunately, this means that something's gotta go. One of: Garland, Boeser, and/or Pearson will have to be traded.

Boeser or Garland , 1 of these guys will be traded and hoping its Boeser and 2 yrs at 6.8 million need to retain 1 million for sure to help move him..

Pearson 30 -- 2yrs X 3.2 million need to trade, will have to retain 500,000 to move off this player rather then buy him out and part of his salary goes against cap? Rather just trade and retain 500,000...

Miller or Horvat - will need to be moved.

Myers - easy to move in summer after his 5 million bonus is paid out July 1st..new team will only have to pay 1 million..

    Bear  25 - RD - sign 3 yrs X 2.8 million show me more

    Dermott 26 -- sign 2 yrs  X 1.8 million

Go with A-A-A until someone really demonstrates they have the ability and the intestinal fortitude to take the reins and reign.  Right now, we don't have anyone that meets those qualities at this time.

I agree 3 - A- A-A and at some point next season name either Petey or Hughes as future captain...

Next season Petey A -- Hughes A-- guess we will still have Miller "A"

Please please Miller can't wear the "C"

Sure hope we can unload Miller and Keep Horvat weeks before March 3rd..

You're gonna have to take some medicine with your sugar. Sure the contract isn't great. But he's a 6'2 22yo natural C who is over 50% in the dot he fills a 3C role for us and there is room for him to grow. He is what we will be saddled with if we want the 1st and Morrow. Or we can sit on our hands and watch the deadline pass and Horvat walk UFA.

Teams know JR blew his cap last year. We don't have the money for Bo. We have Brock Miller and Mikheyev instead. 32 GM's are going to be trying to trade us magic beans for our golden goose.

Canucks will get a decent package for Bo Horvat  a few weeks before trade deadline.. So hard to find  centre like Horvat.

Come on Horvat is such a asset to any team in playoff hunt..

teams like 1.Colorado 2. Carolina 3. Boston. are teams that will really push there chips in on Horvat in next 1--2 weeks before March 3rd trade deadline.. Window to win cup is slim and adding asset like Horvat 27 -- 28--35 Goal guy -- 68--75 point guy,  great on PP - face off circle 57% so hard to find..

Carolina hangs up the phone with a derisive snort one #1.
2nd rounder for Schenn sounds about right.
    ‘Not sure about #3.

Don’t think Myers has any value, 1 million cost but who has 6M in cap space and wants to bring the chaos. Even for 3M that is not what teams are looking for. He runs his contract out helping us tank again next year.
‘Pearson who knows if plays again, if does and is decent out at deadline next season.

Think you wrong abut Carolina trade..

I think from the Canes the return might be.

Kotkaniemi + Morrow + 1st. for Bo and Schenn

    Kotkaniemi 22- 6'2 -  GP 281- G 41 -- PTS 107 - 7 yrs X 4.8 million --NO THANKS  3rd line player

    Morrow RD - 20  6'2---- Drury  22 - 5'11 ----- 1st rounder---

    Horvat 27 --

  16. JANUARY 17, 2023 AT 12:29 PM CDT | BY GAVIN LEE 2 COMMENTS

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Luke Schenn had a nice time together. Two years, two Stanley Cup championships. Then they parted ways, with one choosing security and proximity to family. Now it seems that they might want to rekindle an old fling. The Lightning have shown interest in re-acquiring Schenn from the Vancouver Canucks, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Schenn, 33, won back-to-back championships with the Lightning before signing a two-year deal with the Vancouver canucks in 2021. That contract is about to expire, and the physical depth defender has drawn some interest from all over the league as the perfect deadline addition.

He’s relatively cheap, costing just $850K against the cap, right-handed, and has 15 years of experience in the NHL. He’s also in the midst of his best per-game offensive season, with 14 points in 43 games so far in Vancouver.

Schenn has over 200 hits already this season, easily leading the league. While that isn’t always indicative of success (the other team has to have the puck for you to deliver a hit), it may be exactly what the Lightning are after.

Friedman notes that they are also looking for “a forward with an edge.” They’ve targeted players like Blake Coleman, Barclay Goodrow, and Nick Paul in the past to great success.

The Lightning won’t be the only team considering Schenn, but if they are set on him, they’ve shown a willingness to pay whatever it takes at the deadline. Tampa Bay is focused on championships, and has enough faith in their scouting and development system to move high draft picks. Schenn shouldn’t cost a first-rounder or anything, but he’ll be a nice chip for the Canucks as the deadline nears.

    How about this trade?

Cal Foote 6'3 210 lbs - 24 - RD - Needs fresh start to prove himself..

    Luke Schenn 6'2 - 225lbs  33 - RD -

I fully expect that this kid will join the team as soon as his season over there wraps up. I think we'll find a way to make room for him.

Also great that we have 3 swedes on Abby the same age.. Excited to see him play in Abby and maybe a few games in Vancouver..

  18. Petey will sign big contract in early July for 7 years X 9.5 million Dollars AAV.. He has his buddies still in Vancouver, Hoglander, Hughes, Podkolzin.. He like playing with Kuzmenko and both players are having great season..

Kuzmenk will sign for discount having Russian teammates Mikheyev and Podkolzin around and he likes the fit in Vancouver..He also get to play with Petey.. Kuzmenko 4 yrs X 5.8 million AAV -- This deal will be done before March 3rd..

  19. 1. Bo Horvat, C - Vancouver Canucks

While there’s still a chance the Canucks’ management brass wakes up one morning and decides to give Horvat what he wants, the likelihood at the time of this update is that the Canucks will trade him by the deadline. Contract talks haven’t progressed, Horvat rejected the team’s latest 7-year offer in November, and GM Patrik Alvin has been working the lines.

    TEAMS REPORTEDLY LINKED:

Colorado, Vegas, Carolina, Seattle, NY Rangers

This is from Fourth Period trade watch list.....I have heard Boston and Carolina are also teams interested..
