Horvat for Nemec (+Tatar if needed cap wise)

Would you trade a 30goal scorer for potential top pairing Defenceman?

I agree Nemce 6'2, 200 lbs 18 -AHL numbers last week 18 pts 18 GP? I read that somewhere before world Jr U 20 started...

I think he is core player for Devils already...

    Myers>zaitsev

myers isn’t NEARLY as bad as Canucks fans think he is

he has value across the league and if he didn’t have that 5m bonus in July he’d be a TD target for some teams

he only makes 1m in salary next year

He would be easy to trade after July 1st and bonus of 5 million is paid...

Yes Myers plays tough minutes against other teams top players.. solid #3 or #4 D man.. Canucks are worse when Myers is out of lineup..

OEL will never okay trade there? Did we forget 3 yrs ago OEL would only okay trade to Boston and Vancouver...

So why not sign Bo for 8 years to reduce the cap to 7.2?  Then that’s a great cap allocation for a super important piece to our core.

I don't think Horvat will sign under 8.5 million now? If Canucks trade him I sure hope return is big..

I think Colorado will be #1 team after him..

    1. Colorado - team has so much talent missing solid #2 C - For a long cup run.. Need to put chips in..

2.. Boston - team having a great year and there #1 and #2 centre men are over 34--

    3. Carolina -- Horvat is key to cup final solid centre they need..--So close need to put serious trade offer...

    4. Minnesota Wild -- Team needs a centre like Horvat.

    5. NYI  - 6 - Columbus 7.

I like a lot of things new management  team have done in 12 months.

1.Winning the Kuzmenko sweepstakes this past summer over many other NHL teams.

    2.Mikheyev 28 - great speed and solid 200 foot game.. Should produce 24--26 G --   48--55 points

    3. Bear 25 -RD  Looks very good should be a # 3 D MAN--Also add Pederson in the trade playing well also..

    5. Off season signing Lazar  26 and Joshua 26 very good depth player

    4. Signing Miller 29 before Horvat  27 last summer was a mistake....Horvat will cost 7 yrs X 8.4 million now..I would not sign Horvat to that contract..Last summer bet Horvat would of taken  7 X 7.2 million

    5. Signing Filip Johansson RD 22-- having a great season..Also signed Aman play good # 4 centre..

    6. Stillman #7 or #8 -- Give up 2nd rounder to unload Dickinson

So you agree with the proposed moves but you want to sign Horvat to 7.6m, Kuz 4.9m, Bear 3.5m, Dermott 2.4m? Fine by me but I don't think that gets you Horvat or Kuz. And overall those moves cost another $1.35m above what I proposed, so it won't be cap compliant.

Where do you propose to find a defensive minded #2RD under 27 years old? (can you name even one that might be available?)

Do you think anyone on this site would know??? Come on serious?? These things are kept internal except for those who start rumours?

Personally I'd prefer a rebuild but can't see FA agreeing to that. So what else can we do?

Depending on who you believe all these 3 guys have little to no to negative value...

However, I have seen a few trades proposed on Capfriendly from other teams' fans for these players and makes me wonder if these trades would be good moves to make before the TDL (Boeser) and in the off season (Myers and Pearson):

    To BUF: Boeser

    To VAN: Mittelstadt

Mittelstadt just turned 24 years old. Is a center, has been averaging 16 mins a game and can play both PP and PK. Seems like a decent candidate for future 3C. Most importantly this trade moves Boeser's full cap hit without retention.

To ARI: Myers + 2023 4th round pick

    To VAN: Little

Trade made after Myers' $5m signing bonus is paid. Little will have 1 year left at $5.2m but is on LTIR and contract is fully insured so VAN can bury him on LTIR. Arizona is running such a cheap roster that Little is not even on LTIR there, so not much difference for ARI between Little's cap hit and Myers' cap hit. Arizona gets a top 4 RD in Myers for only $1m in salary cost plus a 4th round pick.

    To WPG: Pearson (50% retained)

    To VAN: 5th round pick

Trade made in off season. WPG get a cheap ($1.625m) middle 6 winger.

    VAN signs Horvat (8m), Kuzmenko (6m), Severson (6m), Bear (2.75), Dermott (1.8), Schenn (1.0), Burroughs (0.8m)

    image.thumb.png.685d77816bd3fc088c51ed9f4d884d70.png

Trade one Boeser 6.8 million or Garland 4.9 million --

Pearson 31 - I would retain 1.5 million to move him 2 yrs left -slow good player for playoff team

    Kuzmenko - 26 - Would not sign for 6 million? Only one season..2 yrs X 4.6 - 4.9 million-- show me more..

Don't want to get into big contract after 1 year..

    Bear 25 RD - sign 3 yrs 3.5 million - current salary 1.8 million

    Dermott  26  LD/ RD - sign 2 yrs X 2.4 - show us more --

Myers-- easy to trade July 2nd after 5 million bonus is signed - New team pay 1 million--

Horvat 7.6 million X 7 yrs first big season ? Horvat has been a 55--61 point guy --26--31 G --Is Horvat a 75 point player??????

    #2 C- great leader - 75 GP-- G 26--32 -- PTS 56--65-- great PP--PK - 20 -23 mins

Miller -29 - 7 X 8 -- Think his personality can be awful when things arn't good? That guy you work with that can make others feel awkward..Seen the smashing sticks etc on ice at times..

I would sign Horvat and trade Miller before July 1st...

Need to make change for very talented # 2  RD man defensive guy under 27 yrs old...Very important this off season ..

Salary will be big but worth it..Good defence creates offence ..

    Petey 24 - star -- July 2nd lock up 8 years X 9.6 million

    Who stays:

    Joshua          Lazar             ?

    Hughes               ?

    ?                          Bear

    Dermott               Burroughs

    Rathbone            Schenn

     Martin

    Who goes:

    Garland and Pearson for picks/prospects

Myers at the trade deadline for picks/prospects.  Myers’ value as a trade chip will definitely increase after the five

            million dollar payout

Boeser for a bad expiring contract and a prospect

Demko and Ekman Larson packaged together for a bad expiring contract and picks/prospects

Schenn and Burroughs at the TDL for picks/prospects

Horvat (love Horvat’s game, but we can’t afford another long term expensive contract.  For a windfall of talent

    Who goes but comes back:

Aside from resigning Kuzmenko, Canucks should resign Burroughs and Schenn (our next captain) during FA.

I welcome any constructive criticism about these proposals.  Have at her gang!

Sounds great  but OEL will never get moved full NT?? Do we remember 3 yrs ago only teams he would go to is Boston or Vancouver?

We had Coyotes in a great spot and should of got more return--

    We trade 3 players X 3 million all expire after 1 season = 9 million -- give up 1st - 2nd rounder

    Take back OEL 7.2 million X  7 yrs = 50.4 million -- add Garland  --

    OEL 31-  if healthy # 3 D man still -- 4 more seasons left

In a flat cap big contracts have to come back? 28 teams are all up against cap? Not east to do?

Example. - move Boeser 6.7 million-- players coming back will have big contracts..

This summer Myers will be easy to move last year bonus paid 5 million only 1 million for new team?

Free up 6 million with Myers July 2nd..

Pearson 31 - trade 3.2 million retain 1.4 million -- free 1.8 million might have to take player back?

    Demko -27 - Petey 24-- Hughes 23  core 3 players ...

With Patrick Kane nearing the end of his career and Chicago near the end of their dynasty, they look to rebuild and acquire picks. Yet its hard for teams to make moves due to cap hell.

    Canucks acquire

    Liljegrin, Domi, Toronto's (ottawa's 3rd pick 2023), 30% of Kane's contract.

Toronto acquires Patrick Kane at the cost of $3.675M.

Chicago acquires Miller, Toronto's 2023 1st rd pick, a 2024 4th rd pick, and they retain 50% of Kane's contract

    ---

now I'm no Cap expert w/ the LTIR ---

but Canucks gain near 500k in cap

Toronto gains 2.2 M in cap- but w/ LTIR it works? not sure tbh

Chicago does this to get some assets on Kane who may not be moveable at this point due to contenders being strapped for cap.

    -

Domi replaces Miller on Horvat's line, also allows us to move Boeser/ Garland for other assets / cap relief

    Chicago don't want  Miller 30 years old 7 yrs X 8 million--Never never ? Like players Vancouver get ..

Chicago want to rebuild and have already started? They want to trade there older players Kane will be traded by March 3rd for sure..

Yeah i hope we keep him for about that. He is a UFA

The 4 million X 4 year deal was crazy..

Bear 25 needs to show more before you offer over 3.3 million X 4 years....

Bear 5'11 - 195 lbs RD - playing good in Vancouver but remember wasn't long ago Oilers traded him and Carolina never played him this season?

Show me more 3 yrs X 3.3 --3.5 million... His present contract is 1.8 million..

I like the upside PK solid #4 RD man..

And why would the Avs trade Byram for a rental?

Y'all are funny - this isn't NHL 23.  If you guys want to live in your own world - go ahead.

Have you ever thought when team that wants Bo Horvat get serious they get permission to chat with agent about what Horvat camp contract ???? Come on they sure do..Teams thinking about Horvat might want to make sure 8 million X 8 yrs can be signed after the trade.. Happens.. So not NHL 2023...

I predict team that Horvat is moved to ..

    1. Boston - both Bergeron C and Krejci C are both over 35 -- Horvat great fit .. Carlo 25 D 6'6---Frederic 24 W--Lysell 19 F -  2nd RD

    2. Colorado - team has so much talent but need a #2 C for cup run ---Newhook 22 C--Olausson 19 6'1 W--Behrens 19 -D

3.Carolina - Horvát would push Hurricanes to finals there so close now--(  Morrow 20 -6'2 RD-- -Drury 22 - 1st rounder 2023

retain 2 million for this season

    4. Minn - Horvát ----   Faber 21 RD - 6'2  Greenway 25 - 6'6- W - 2023. 2nd rounder..

    5. Columbus --Horvat --- Peeke 23 -RD. 6'3  --Marchenko 22 - 6'3   - 2nd rounder 2023

    6. NYI -- 7. NYR

    To COL:
    Bo Horvat (50% Retained)
    Kyle Burroughs

    To VAN:
    Sam Girard
    Alex Newhook

Pretty self explanatory... Bo Horvat is the perfect #2C behind MacKinnon. Girard is a nice piece but he'll eventually need to be moved as Byram will has basically supplanted him. Newhook is a nice piece but the Avs are more likely interested in winning the cup versus trying to develop Newhook - he likely won't be a material/impact player for 3-4 years. This doesn't fit the Avs timeline. The package is quite large for a potential rental, but the Canucks retain half and add in Burroughs as an interim LD replacement if needed to offset.

Canucks, as reported, is not looking for prospects and wants to make a hockey deal. This is the perfect hockey deal for them. Newhook has potential to be a #2C behind Pettersson in the future, and Girard is likely the second best defenseman on the team after Hughes. Girard is only 24 - he still has a lot of years ahead of him on a decent, cost-controlled contract. This it the type of move that will help the Canucks accelerate their re-tool. Losing Horvat sucks but this team needs to take a few steps back in order to take steps forward.

    Re: Contract Extension

I think this could work as a deal regardless if Bo has an extension in place. I think Sakic would be confident to get Bo on an extension with a discount. Bo clearly wants to win and Avs clearly have a a need for #2C - Horvat would be the perfect center to complement MacKinnon. The money saved from Girard (5) and Newhook (2/2.5?) next year is probably sufficient for Horvat's extension. 8 years for $7.5M per probably gets it done. And for people saying why would they give Horvat an extension when they wouldn't for Kadri, Horvat's extension kicks in when he's 28, whereas Kadri was 32 - that's a huge difference.

I agree Colorado must win again now and next 2--3 years.. Horvat is a key player for a top team like Colorado..

     Newhook 22 -5'11 -- Girard 24 --5'10 --Olausson 19 - 6'1  blue chip prospect

Horvat -27  retain 1 million - Rathbone--  3rd rounder 2025 if Newhook  gets over 40 points in a season before 2025 draft

Also think Boston - there star centre men are both over 32.

    Carolina - another good fit

    • There it is 1
  17. Allvin will have to move out salary..

Myers - this summer after 5 million bonus is paid new team will only have to pay miller 1 million---6 million gone

Boeser 6.7 or Garland 4.9 million -- One of these guy has to be moved..

Pearson 3.2 million trade retain  1.2 million each year X 2 yrs -- save 2 million

So just these 3 players can save you 12- - 14 million ? Might have to some players back...

    Horvat ? will demand 8 yrs X 7.7 million ? really a 58 -- 68 point guy---- 25--30 G

Miller 29 or Horvat 27-- one must be traded will save another 8 million-- say 5- million coming back in players salary? 3 million saved

    sign Kuzmenk 3 X 4.8 million

Sign Hoglander -- 2 yrs X 1.2 million show me more

Dermott 25   sign 2 yrs 2.2 million - show me more deal

    Bear 25 RD  sign -- 4 yrs  - 3.3 - 3.5  million AAV
