They're going to be tight against the cap but looks like Romanov is playing top minutes for them.

I'd target Pulock - he's 28, big, strong RD who can play top-4 minutes but is currently playing only 18-20 minutes a night (buy low?). Most importantly, he's got a 6.1M cap hit for a very long time. If we're trading any of our big contracts, we've got to take some on.

Miller for Pulock + 1st or even 2nd? I'd do that straight swap. Couple of pretty bad contracts.

If NYI want more cap wiggle room:

    TO VAN: Pulock + Pageau + 1st

TO NYI: Miller + Rathbone (or Woo, some defensive prospect)

We go +3 in cap though on the deal but then with the 3C situation and top RD sorted, we can move Boeser and/or Garland and Pearson for picks/next to nothing. I'm sure there's a Boeser/Garland + pick deal for Peeke out there. If not, Boeser for Severson or Dumba (two expiring contracts) might be on the cards? Flip Garland and Pearson then for the cap space (might gain a 2nd or 3rd for Garland but then spend a 3rd to get rid of Pearson's contract) in the off-season and suddenly we've got all sorts of flexibility, and can re-sign Bo and Kuzmenko in the off-season if Dumba/Severson want to walk.

    Please please don't take another small forward making 5 million Pageau big no..Pageau 5'10 - 30 yrs - 4 yrs X 5 million

Edit: Doesn’t look like a the Garland/Kuzmenko scratches from earlier in the year.

I think both Klingberg 6'3 30 -RD - UFA. and Severson 6'2 - 28-RD - UFA  not playing as much this season only 6 points this season..

I like both of these guys but I like Severson better...I see both of these guys traded before March 3rd..

I think Oilers and Leafs will be chasing these 2 very good RD men...

  3. Lane Pederson 25. 6'0 - 190lbs - GP 18 - G 17 PTS 24 decent skating plays all roles with Abbotsford since arriving.

He needs to play on 3rd line with say Garland and play 12-13 mins..So many offensive players get called up and play 8 mins on 4th line..

He might feel more comfortable 650 talk show guys were saying he is dating Schenn's sister..

    Go Pederson Go !

Horvat 50% retained as a rental...............But he signs with either Columbus or Montreal.......Caronlina as a pure rental

All will include short term cap dumps

    Carolina - Morrow and a 1st

    Columbus - Ceulemans and a 2nd

    Montreal - Mailloux and a 2nd

I could live with these returns...........I would feel sick, but since Rutherford will not allow the other team to talk to Horvat, I see it as the best we get.........

It is really the other move that happens this TDL

I think Horvat will be traded to one of these 5 times -- Colorado - Boston - Minnesoda -  Columbus- Carolina

    Colorado - Need #2 C bad to make the long run again. - Newhook C - Ollausson 19 W - MacDermaid 28 D Toughness

    Boston -  Krejci 36 C They need a centre like Bo----- Lohrei 6'4 D -21 --  Lysell  19 --Zacha 25 6'3--

    Wild --   Need C bad ---  Faber 6'3 RD ---  Greenway 25 - 6'6 W --  2nd rounder

    Columbus -- Peeke 24 RD --Merchenko  22 -- 2nd rounder

    Carolina -- Morrow  - 1st rounder

I don't see retaining 1.6 per as a huge cost for 2 years, and if the return gets us a mid 2nd, where it might only get us a 3rd or 4th, otherwise, I am all for it. But that is just me.

I hope Canucks management see this? They offer Miller 8 million X 7 yrs last summer..

I was hoping they offered Horvat 6.8 - 7  million X 8 yrs  last summer ?Horvat would of signed now he won't sign. Having a great start and knowing how management decided on Miller last summer .. Horvat  will demand 7.8 --8 million X 7 yrs now

Sure hope We get a decent return for Horvat? Management are in a tight corner now trade deadline March 3rd..

Horvat has to be signed or traded before this big day March 3rd?

Why are we retaining?  Stevie Y's gonna recoup Boeser's value so well, it's probably going to look like highway robbery.

Why would teams want Boesers 6.65 million X 3 yrs ? Retaining salary would make trade easier...

Boeser has done nothing last 2 yrs doesn't look engaged, slow not physical and he doesn't score like he did in his first 2 yrs..

Retain 1 million and move the asset..Kuzmenko can fill his spot..

    Simple and quick

Boeser ($1,650,000 retained)   for  Detroits  2nd round and 5th round picks

Now you might think Detroit should pay more, especially with retention, but it is to our advantage

So that clears approx $5,000,000 per season

Look at this way............its a 2nd and a 5th , plus either money to resign Horvat or its money to resign Kuzmenko, or a RHD, or a part there of.

This deal can really be made with anyone who wants Boeser.

Yes I agree with this trade. Fans are going to be upset but no teams are going to offer Canucks a great package for Boeser 25.

Boeser values has really gone down and starting.. 3 yrs X 6.65 million not great - slow, injury prone Boeser needs a re start on a new team..Retain 1.65 million - free up cap take a draft pick 2nd 2023 -- young D prospect, use the money to sign Kuzmenko who might be a better player we will see..

    2021-22 GP  71 - G 23 PTS 46

    2022-23 GP 22 -G  4 PTS 16

  8. I like Garland but he rally doesn't get quality time in Vancouver to but up more then 40--45 points.

If he was on some teams playing top 6 he should produce GP. 75 - G 23--25-- PTS 55-60

Lets trade with Calgary they could use Garland talent 4.9 million X 4 yrs..

    Dillon Dube 24 - 5'11 - 190 -speedy -- Gp 75 -- G 17--21 --PTS 35-40 I think he will break into a top 6 forward..

So one thing that baffles me on here is how so many people think Kuzmenko is gonna sign a 'show me' deal, or a bridge deal.

WHY?  WHY ON EARTH WOULD HE DO THAT?

Kuzmenko will be 27 years old by the time he signs an extension.  If you were him, and never made any big bucks in the NHL before, would YOU sign a 1 to 3 year deal that transfers ALL of the risk to you?  What if you hit a slump next season?  What if you get injured?  What if, what if, what if?

Reality is there is a really good chance that Kuzmenko hits 30 goals and 75 to 80 points this season.  Those are great numbers and puts him easily in the $7M+ AAV range.  As a UFA, I have zero doubt that a team would be more than willing to hand him a $50M deal over 7 years.

I just laugh and cringe when I see people here thinking he will go ahead and put pen to paper on a 3 year deal worth $5M per year lol.  Keep dreaming CDC... keep dreaming.

Kuzmenko 27 UFA will be in driver seat lets say he ends up with GP 75  G 25 PTS 55 - Will demand 3 yrs X 4.5--4.9 million

Canucks will be in a tough spot..

While there’s been near-weekly reports about the Vancouver Canucks and Bo Horvatgrowing further apart in extension negotiations, it seems today’s update might be the nail in the coffin for Horvat’s future in British Columbia. TSN’s Pierre LeBrun added to a report from CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal that Horvat rejected an offer from the Canucks “a couple of weeks ago,” saying the team is now entirely focused on Horvat’s trade market between now and the March 3 deadline.

Speculation will now be entirely focused on potential destinations and, more so for Canucks fans, possible return packages.

It’s a foregone conclusion that the Canucks would ask for a high-end defense prospect as the centerpiece of any Horvat trade. The 2023 NHL Draft, while stacked, is weak with defensemen, especially near the top. For the team’s most significant area of need, trading for an already-drafted defenseman will likely spark the team’s pool of young players.

Trading for Ethan Bear helped in the short-term for Vancouver, who was bleeding goals against early in the season. But it doesn’t solve the issue that Jack Rathbone, a 95th overall pick, remains the organization’s top prospect on defense.

When you think of contenders looking to add at center at the deadline, you think of the Colorado Avalanche. It does make sense that they would have an interest in Horvat when the time comes, but whether there’s a trade fit there is less certain. Considering Bowen Byram is likely untouchable, the organization doesn’t have any under-23 defensemen that would move the needle for Vancouver.

There is, however, Samuel Girard. If Vancouver remains insistent on making moves like a team with playoff aspirations, that acquisition could make some sense. He’s off to yet another disappointing start this season though, with just five points in 20 games. While it looked like a sure bet two years ago that Girard would develop into a high-end top-four defenseman, doubts are beginning to grow.

For now, it’s wait-and-see time for the Canucks. Horvat’s value is at its peak with his goal-scoring through the roof, leading to what could be a franchise-altering deadline deal.

We are in serious trouble if you trade Horvat and Miller?? One not both..

If there trading both Miller and Horvat why are you stopping when are you trading Demko?

Hard to find Horvat and Miller in drafts look at our drafting?

Very hard to find #2 centre ..Canucks would be trading for one very soon after they trading both of them.

lol..lol .. I don't think there are any GM'S on this site..All people opinions or rumours they have heard through different good sources on TV or radio.. Colorado, Boston are two teams that need a centre like Horvat..Colorado don't have a #2 C since Kadri left..

Boston Krejci 36 - Boston really need a centre-- Those are 2 obvious teams that hockey fans can pick out and there both playoff teams.

"Nail on head".  I think we are pretty much destined to make sideways type trades.  So guys like Garland and Boeser might be moved, but the return will be for equal contracts and players who are not wanted by their teams.  Maybe we can find guys who are a better fit with us?  And maybe Garland and Boeser are better fits on those teams?  Then everyone wins, which makes for the best trades.

I don't see us moving OEL though. We seem to have a good partner for him now with Bear?

OEL would be impossible to move only had 2 team trade list 3 years ago Boston and Vancouver..

  15. I think trade talks will heat up with Horvat in January. Colorado with all there talent will want to make another few runs at a cup and Horvat is the perfect fit.Horvat 27 , 58 % on draw - should produce 25-30 G--  60--65 points regular- solid game - PP - PK

    --Newhook 22- C --Olausson 19-- MacDermid 28 D man - 6'5 -233 lbs toughest guy around --2025 --3rd rounder

Talks Not Going Well: One of the more prominent pending unrestricted free agents next summer is Canucks center Bo Horvat.  However, while many expected a deal to be done back in the offseason, that hasn’t materialized and extension discussions aren’t progressing to the point where they might have to move him closer to the trade deadline.  The 27-year-old already has 20 goals this season in just 27 games which is certainly only adding to his asking price.  Of course, it looked like things were heading this way with J.T. Miller just a few months ago before they ultimately settled on an extension.  However, with their cap situation, it’s possible that Miller’s contract might also help push their captain out the door.

which team are you moving them to and for what and how much retained? are you including draft picks to move them.?

this group has been trying to move brock, myers, pearson oel and miller. what could you do differently to turn this team around/

1.OEL - will be here forever do remember he had a 2 team trade list.. We should of hosed Coyotes on this trade..Team wants to unload OEL 8.5 million X 7 yrs = 59.5 ? We trade 3 players 9 million that expired in 1 year--  We get Garland --We also give up a 1st and 2nd rounder???? We got hosed so bad..

Team might have been asking too much in return? Have to decide if you want to free up cap...

    Example -- Peeke 24 - 6'2 - RD - Great salary plays 20--22 mins -- --  Trade  Miller or Horvat

Boston, Colorado, Washington,  Hurricanes- Kings- Come trade deadline one of these teams will make a good offer..

I say Colorado or Boston...Horvat will have playoff teams very interested

    Columbus - Horvat - Hoglander---     Vancouver  Peeke 24  RD - - Boone 29 C/W - 1st  rounder 2023

    2. Pearson 30 --3.2 X 2 yrs -- retain 1.5 move this player

3.Myers 32 - RD - Next summer last year of contract ? 5 million bonus has to be paid -- 1 million remaining for new team

The 6 million against cap can be moved so easy as new team has 1 million to pay..

    4. Boeser or Garland - NYI could use Barzal-- Retain salary-- Mayfield RD-30 - 1 yr X 1.4 ---- Wahlstrom 22- W - ELC

Well, first off I agree with the question(s)

#1. Where is this change Rutherford talked about upon arrival?

    #2. Where is the accountability.

I watched last night as young Boldy went down a blocked a shot. Sacrifice for team!

But the biggest single question/problem/reality is............where will the improvement come from? I mean, basically Pettersson, Horvat, Hughes, Miller, Demko do not collectively have enough to consistently pull this team along, and when I look at that as a problem, I ask where does the next improvement that puts us into being a contending team, come from?

My answer is, it is not here! And what is worse is that with our current Cap allocations, we are more likely to loose talent, than actually add to it.

You can add to the Horvat, Kuzmenko, Pettersson contracts all coming up either this year or next, it will be hard to compete for top UFA talent, that actually might, fill in the holes.

In addition, we do not have enough character players. As a matter of fact, I don't see many that can actually will or lead a team out of a lack luster performance. People love Horvat, but in tough games, he is sporadic at best, Miller disappears and pouts. Pettersson is talented, but just so light and gets bounced around, and poor Huggie get beat up daily.

Unfortunately, we need a player that can take the heat off of Pettersson and Hughes, and is dominant enough to lead the team.

It is not the easy games that I speak of, but rather the tough ones, where teams focus on our 2 young stars, and there is no one to answer. IMO, this team needs to be totally rebuilt. And I do not see Aqualini allowing that to happen.

The sky does not fall every game, but big teams that have talent, really give our team a tough time. Poor Schenn can not do it alone, and Stillman is a middle weight, Joshua does not play big enough, and they don't play Burroughs enough.

The 2 most positively frustrating players IMO are 215 pound Horvat and 218 pound Miller. Neither consistently hit, and neither are good defensively, with Miller actually being atrocious.

It is a "Fn" mess, and Rutherford sits on his hands.

Changes have to Abe made with this group. They get fans excited the bubble run..

Lost Markstrom - Taffoli -- Tanev for zero return and that cannot happen those were top 6 players on team at the time..

Then we went on the amazing run last season when Bruce took over and not so inconsistent ..

    Trades need to take place..

    1. Miller 29 -- 7 X 8 million next season or Horvat  -- One of these guys must be moved soon..Would keep Horvat

    2. Pearson 31 --- 2. yrs X 3.2 million - trade and retain 1 million

    3. Myers - 32-- RD plays big mins-- will be easy to move after his 5 million bonus is paid out this July..

    4. Boeser  25 ---3 yrs X 6.7 or Garland  26 - 4 yrs X 4.8 million-- One of these players need to be moved

Karlsson has a FULL NMC, he completely controls where he goes. It was rumored when Ottawa was trading him and again before he resigned with the Sharks, that Vancouver was one of his preferred landing spots due to his connection to the Sedins etc.

The question is, does he still see Vancouver as a desirable enough destination to control the narrative and use his ability to dictate his destination.

Personally, I would make this trade in a heartbeat.  We might need to add minorly on this, maybe also send them the 4th rounder this year that we got from the Rangers for Motte?

The size of contract limits teams and return that San Jose can expect to receive on this trade. I think what has been proposed is pretty close to what it would take to make the deal fly for both teams.

Don't be surprised if this is the type of deal that is engineered partially by the agent for Boeser selling Karlsson's camp on pushing for the Canucks as a destination.

Again, Yes I would do this and I believe that this is the type of deal that could happen. It's the type of deal, IMO, that Rutherford would engineer as a major shakeup.

Every time management group talk they want to get younger and free up cap space?

    Boeser 25 - 3yrs X 6.7 million

    Karlsson - 32 -- 5 yrs X 11.5 million ???

Not freeing up cap space and locked into another old player like OEL...Canucks never make this trade...
